UK rave, hardcore and jungle legend Force Mass Motion is back on his own self-titled label with another of his explosive dance floor weapons.

Force Mass Motion, aka Mike Wells, is rolling out tunes at a high rate of speed and consistency. He has been doing so for decades having been right at the heart of the UK’s rave and hardcore scene since he started producing in 1989. His essential catalogue takes in all that and more, such as nu-school breaks, another sound he helped to pioneer. He has been associated with key labels over the years from the likes of Lot49 to Kingsize Records to Colin Faver’s seminal Rabbit City Records imprint. Now he is back on his own crucial label.

‘Piece Of Mind’ is a caustic fusion of bristling percussion and twitchy synths with crunchy drums. A breakdown is unexpectedly emotive, with thoughtful melodic lines making for a moment’s reflection before the heavy technoid drums bang again. It’s a timeless and knowing mix of UK dance history in one potent tune.

This is another essential and indelible production from the peerless Force Mass Motion.

Veyl is pleased to welcome Marco Freivogel’s Prequel Tapes for an immense 8 song release, ‘The Golden Cage’. Completing an album cycle of themes and exploration which began with 2015’s ‘Inner Systems’, ‘The Golden Cage’ is perhaps Prequel Tapes’ most diverse and expansive work – utilising the artist’s own vocals for the first time and evolving his production and sound to new, uncharted dimensions.

Working off the trauma of his father’s suicide, ‘The Golden Cage’ was spawned from a hyper-realistic dream experience that revealed the artist’s path, catalysing new productions and techniques. The result is a striking work of unconventional electronics that journeys through rhythms, atmospheres and experimentations. A true narrative of a continuously challenging personal journey.

Beginning with the tension-building, free flow of ‘My Turn’, we then delve into grief and anger with ‘I Hate You’, which transforms into the pulsating tempos of ‘Stranger or Lover’. The glistening nostalgia of ‘Last Things’ marks the halfway point before grappling with the heavy introversion of ‘Alone’ and devious energy of ‘Mind Corner’. Nearing the end of our trip, ‘Without Remission’ uncovers the most dancefloor tuned piece, while finally the title track closes with an energy that will linger long after you’ve listened.

The Berlin-based blog and record label, NovaFuture returns with their fourth vinyl release, “We Are Flying High”. The record is a compilation featuring the work from four of the blog’s affiliate artists and incorporates elements of techno and trance, with uplifting, arpeggiated leads and dark, distorted beats.

The four-track sampler opens with MSKD’s “Entropy And Versatile”, a melancholic and atmospheric track reflecting the young French DJ’s exploration of classic techno influences. A reverb heavy trance lead is layered against sharp percussive elements and broken kick patterns for a versatile, dance floor-ready sound.

The second track, “The Dance Of The Misanthropes” by Tsorn, dives into the underground with a hard, repeating synth line and thumping kick driving the record forward. Her early musical influences from black metal are apparent as the Leipzig-based producer crafts this crushing and uncompromising techno release.

“Deine Worte” from Hephaistos follows, contrasting ambient pads and vocal ambiences with energetic drums for a dark yet ethereal soundscape. The track builds and opens up as synths and trance leads come in, adding energy for a pumping and vibrant high.

The final track, “Red”, comes from the Berlin-based American DJ, The Horrorist. While its title seems fit with NovaFuture’s signature red artwork, the track deviates sonically from the rest of the release for an intense and suffocating experience. Noisy industrial sounds, distorted drones, and crushed vocals are all mangled together to create a pulsing wall of hiss, buzz and screams that leaves the listener gasping for a breath.

Carefully curated by the CEO Of NovaFuture, “We Are Flying High” is a thrilling experience that will be released via their own label on the 17th of June 2022.
