[Mix]: Frank Heise – NovaFuture Blog Mix March 2018

DJ:
Frank Heise

Introduction:
Frank Heise is a Berlin based DJ and Producer who always tries to put some deepness in his sets and productions. But his sound is versatile and can go from drone-ambient to raw Techno tunes, trance and electro. This maybe is caused by his way to produce his own tracks with analog drum machines and a modular synth.

After a long „Vinyl-Only“-time Frank decides to go with the flow and also use digital decks in his sets. Now he started to experiment with three decks while using his beloved vinyl-records. This is the first recorded set where he used three decks to put tunes he loves together.

As a part of the Klangbiotop-Family he found his home at about-blank in Berlin an he played at parties like STAUB, ISMUS, ESCH, COLOURS and Plötzlich am Meer Festival. One of the most important dates this year will be the Instytut-Festival in Poland where he plays alongside names like Marcel Dettmann, Sigha, Dax J and many more.

[NovaFuture Blog Exclusive Mix]: Gräfin plays Skryptöm

DJ:
Gräfin

About the concept:
Here is the thirty-second instalment of our series “abc plays xyz”.

The idea behind it is to ask some DJs/mixing artists if they have an artist or label in mind that they love and would like to use for a mix.

So the approach of each mix is clear: the choosen DJ/mixing artist makes a selection of tracks produced by one artist (and her/his monikers) or released on a label (and its sublabels) and creates a nice mix from it.

Find links to all instalments at our overview. Today we present you Gräfin’s mix of tracks released on Skryptöm.

About Gräfin:
Gräfin was born and raised in Istanbul (29 years old). Besides being a pharmacist, music and especially the techno scene is her life. She began my music career as a vocal first, and also graduated from state conservatory. Electronic music production, creating her own atmosphere while DJing got much more essential than anything. Until this time, she shared the same stage with Amelie Lens, Sam Paganini, Mind Against, Anja Schneider, Francesca Lombardo. She likes to captivate people with the dark but also energetic stuff.

About Skryptöm:
Skryptöm is a french label established in Paris founded in 2006 by Electric Rescue to release all his crushes without any strategy but techno passion. Skryptöm is an artist house who doesn’t do any one shot releases, the artist roster is only based artist the label developp in time. Skryptöm propose a real label with a techno phylosophy and artist developpment.

The story started at the middle of 2000’s during the minimal techno trance period, with the hit “air conditionné” from Julian Jeweil, “my toyz” from Popof and “midnight” from Laurent Garnier and Scan X. But the style of Skryptöm quickly moved to pure techno sounds to go back to the techno roots combine to modern senstions and sounds With releases from Electric Rescue, Psycatron, Traumer, Maxime Dangles, Moteka. Since 2010 Skryptöm is definitly pure techno, sometimes rough, sometimes melodious and always techno with releases from all the Skryptöm roster artists plus Dusty kid, Leghau, Paul Nazca, Dustin Zahn and Tim Xavier, always combine to great remixers like Truncate, Johannes Heil, Mark Broom, Slam, Jonas Kopp, Florian Meindl, The Hacker. Skryptöm always pay attention to the young techno generation, the label always developp new comers like Traumer, Maxime Dangles, Julian Jeweil, Popof, Moteka, Shekon and the new one Kmyle who’s arriving in spring.

2015 is a new step, to help the artists better and give them the possibility to express themselves in a freeway of global electronic expression, the label decide to release albums.

All the artist from the roster Maxime Dangles, Traumer, Paul Nazca, Leghau, Moteka, Shekon, Kmyle and Electric Rescue are invite to propose their own album on Skryptöm and the first who did it is Maxime Dangles for a huge “Resilience” LP of 12 tracks from electronica to techno to give a global view on his music.

“Resilience” is the first abum but not the last as Electric Rescue and Traumer already announced their own one before the end of the year … Techno is the leitmotiv from

Gräfin About Her Choice:
It’s one of the labels that made me love the other side of techno music, the soulful one. I love the vibe, the expression and the story in their music. There are different genres you can find, combine together. Still, the whole Skrptöm family speaks the same dialect. Their style is gloomy, mindful and also moving. I really admire this type of music, it mesmerizes the crowd and gives a moment they can’t forget.

Fabula About His Choice:
To me, Parabel clearly is one of THE labels when it comes to modern contemporary techno: the music always is subtle and minimalistic, yet never dull or flat, there’s always something special about each track. Although they work very well in a club, most of the tracks are in some way melancholic and introverted, yet never cheesy, which is something I appreciate a lot in my mixes.
