Whilst heavily inspired by the first wave techno of the ‘90s, Gotshell’s approach to production is one of genre synthesis, drawing upon styles ranging from IDM and acid to ambient and dub, and grounded continuously by an honest commitment to intense, uplifting rave music. Having released on an extensive roster of labels, Sintaxis is his second full release for BPitch, following Rezagados in 2021, and an appearance on the acclaimed We Are Not Alone compilation series last year.

Armed with a passion for multi-genre musicality and a refined understanding of production techniques, Sintaxis brandishes references to subcultures from varying localities. Chaotic and serene in equal measure, Gotshell finds balance in the fusion of seemingly disparate sonic profiles.

Opening the proceedings is ‘Forest’, a misty spiral through bizarre dissonances and psychedelic pads led by a marching kick drum. Heading into hazier territory, the dub-centric ‘Who I Am’ nods to early era dubstep with a careful fusion of stepping percussions, echoey vocals, and airy synths. ‘Fluctuacion Paralela’ continues in an ambient-leaning vein, submerging itself into an uncanny world of distant alarms, robotic voices and subtle drums. Closing off the proceedings is the unrelenting ‘Acid and Die’, a no-nonsense tweak trip through harsh acid coils and heavy distortions.

Seamlessly fusing references gleaned from a true commitment to the music, Sintaxis is a statement of intent from the Colombian producer, tying together the threads between different shades of electronic music with an aesthetic distinctly his own.

BPitch welcome back one of Croatia’s most beloved electronic music exports, Insolate, with five uplifting grooves.

With a career spanning over twenty years – traversing from illegal underground raves in late ‘90s Croatia to hypnotising dancefloors the world over – she’s contributed considerably to the international scene as a producer, DJ, label head and more. Known as a producer for releases on a range of highly acclaimed imprints, her new EP for BPitch follows an appearance on the We Are Not Alone compilation back in 2020.. Utilising a vast range of hardware and software, and drawing upon influences accrued over decades of passion for non-conformist electronic music, Insolate’s strain of groove-driven techno is radiant, warm, and carefully balanced.

With a learned ear for the most powerful minutiae of sound design, Insolate crafts each production with a careful emotional sensibility. As the title suggests, there’s a strong belief in hope underpinning her music, and this EP is one of her strongest documentations of that feeling to date.

For his next solo release as Tensal, Héctor Sandoval – known to many for his collaborative projects as Exium, Komatssu, and Selección Natural – debuts on BPitch with The New Land Order, a four-track package of intense, minimalist techno.

Functioning as an output for his solo work, Tensal is a project that amalgamates various references into an exploration of tension in electronic music. Built using a combination of strange harmonic dissonances and abstract rhythmic patterns, the tracks are designed to be layered over time to build a tautly wound intensity; DJ tools in the best sense of the word.

With a learned understanding of the ways in which atmospheric surroundings are built within electronic music, and the role that this plays within nightclubs and DJ sets, Tensal uses his solo alias to experiment with a powerful range of sonic structures. He expands: ‘The concept I was thinking about when I made the EP is the timelessness of my influences which are currently running away from mainstream “modern” Techno and are closer to the music I’ve played as a DJ since I started my career in 1992, things like Acid, EBM, Electro, Techno-Trance or the first Rave music.’

Opening the release is ‘Misandei’, a dose of industrial-leaning techno centered around a cyclical synth line that charges continuously as the drums move in different frameworks around it. Minimalist and expansive in equal measure, it encapsulates the juxtapositions that inform his sonic palette. Following closely behind is ‘Mors Tua’, a frenetic cut driven forward by a dissonant melodic line that teeters on the edge of losing control, just about staying on track. ‘Jugoplastika’ then steps straight into the main room with a frantic blend of surreal vocal loops and heavy distortions, whilst closing track ‘Kodex’ takes an unexpected turn into broken beat territory, driven by cavernous acoustics and euphoric bells.

The New Land Order finds Tensal in total control of his craft, carefully arranging layers of sound to create a powerful dose of tension on the dancefloor.

Next up on BPitch is a four-track package of unfiltered techno and impeccable sound design by Turin-based duo Boston 168. Expanding on the sonic palette they’ve explored across three previous EPs on BPitch, as well as a 2019 appearance on the hotly tipped sub label UFO Inc, the duo head for cavernous industrial spaces and vivid psychedelic trips with Gigantia, due for September 1st.

Having begun their musical explorations independently, old friends Sergio Pace and Vincenzo Ferramosca began making music together in 2014, birthing what would then become their highly acclaimed moniker of Boston 168 (a nod to the address of their first ever studio). Building a name for themselves from an expansive strain of techno with vast spatialities, the duo’s organic approach to production has guided their musical output ever since. With a penchant for improvisation and a beloved collection of well-used hardware, their sound has carried them through an illustrious career to date, including the running of their own imprint.

Gigantia sees the duo drawing upon the industrial roots of their hometown, merging a range of influences with a distinctly melodic take on acid techno. With a strong affinity for carving sonic spaces, the four-track package is a masterclass in production, with each track exercising careful restraint in its acoustic arrangement. The result is a precisely orchestrated dose of unrelenting dancefloor power, and an authentic nod to the underground spirit that inspired it.

EP opener ‘Hit by the Star’ heads straight to the main floor with a peak time burner of cavernous kick drums, tripped out acid swirls and haunting melodic leads. Following closely behind is ‘Sirio03’, a double dose of psychedelic sonics. In a more melancholic turn, ‘Before Us’ blends emotive melodies with traces of breakbeat to arrive at a moment of dancefloor catharsis. Rounding out the EP is title track ‘Gigantia’, an expansive cut of raw techno for the main room.
