Press Info:
From Another Mind, founded in 2014, presents its fourth and most capacious release to date. Having started off initially as a South-German Party series, this release sees commanders-in-chief SHDW & Obscure Shape invite back previous guests from the clubnight, just this time using their talents as remixers to breathe new life into the first three much praised From Another Mind records. The likes of Rødhåd, Tale Of Us & Mind Against, Dax J, Konstantin Sibold and Shlomo all feature with contributions staying true to the Label’s sound forged initially by its founders, and whether going down an epic or a more banging path, all versions pay respect to that special hypnotism which has found so many supporters. Veteran Producer James Ruskin masterfully condenses „Nachtblende“ down to a loop while Ryan James Ford brings a touch of IDM-ish Bleep Techno to „Augen Der Nacht“. Ed Davenport explores his Inland project further, contributing a stepping techno journey which is only matched by Rødhåd´s version in its sheer vastness. The release is split in two version EPs, namely FAM004.1 & FAM004.2. Both artworks function by themselves however its full glory shines when held next to each other as the paintings complement each other.

Press Info (English):
Goldfrapp will release their seventh studio album ‘Silver Eye’ on March 31st through Mute.

The band, consisting of Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory, also reveal their new single ‘Anymore’. Featuring strident strands of underground electronica, sensual melody and metal machine pop at its core, the new track is an assertive return from the uncompromising duo.

Goldfrapp follow up 2013’s album ‘Tales of Us’ with the deep, dark and electronic musical palette of ‘Silver Eye’, their brand new studio album, made with an eclectic collection of new collaborators. Alison and Will spent 10 days in Dallas with John Congleton, Grammy-winning producer of St. Vincent, John Grant and Wild Beasts. In London they teamed up with electronic composer Bobby Krlic, aka The Haxan Cloak. Brian Eno collaborator Leo Abrahams added abstract guitar textures. The album was mixed by David Wrench (The xx, fka Twigs, Caribou).

On the making the album, Alison Goldfrapp said: “We’ve never liked repeating ourselves. Often we react to things we’ve just done. We like the spontaneity of not knowing. It’s only through the process that we start to figure out what it is. The fans who have stuck with us are the ones who embrace that idea and are excited by the thought that they don’t know quite what to expect next.”

Will Gregory added: “I think writing an album is like being lost in a wood. You’re trying to figure out an interesting path. You don’t know whether it’s going to be a dead end or somewhere interesting and you never know when to stop because around the corner some beautiful vista might open up.”

Alison headed to Fuerteventura, a volcanic island in the Canary Islands, to produce the remarkable visuals for the record, all of which were devised and shot by her. The black sands, stark cliffs, rolling dunes and blazing blue skies, captured in her own photographs, are a total complement to the elemental drama of the music on the album. Working with stunning twins who she spotted on the street in London, Alison created and shot a set of visuals that are as arresting as they are idiosyncratic. In demand more and more as a photographer, Alison has been commissioned for other projects in the past including shooting Laura Mvula live at Somerset House.

Goldfrapp will be performing a very special show at London’s Roundhouse on March 27th where they will showcase new music from ‘Silver Eye’. Tickets go on sale this Friday with a special fan pre-sale from Wednesday March 25th. Fans should sign up to the mailing list at http://www.goldfrapp.com to get early access to the tickets.

Silver Eye is released March 31st and is available to pre-order now.

Zum Entstehungsprozess des Albums befragt, sagt Alison: “We’ve never liked repeating ourselves. Often we react to things we’ve just done. We like the spontaneity of not knowing. It’s only through the process that we start to figure out what it is. The fans who have stuck with us are the ones who embrace that idea and are excited by the thought that they don’t know quite what to expect next.”

Will Gregory ergänzt: “I think writing an album is like being lost in a wood. You’re trying to figure out an interesting path. You don’t know whether it’s going to be a dead end or somewhere interesting and you never know when to stop because around the corner some beautiful vista might open up.”

Tracklist:

Substance B

B1.
Track 432

B2.
S-Drive

Press Info (English):
Where to start besides pointing out that Fiedel’s debut solo release on Ostgut Ton has been long in the coming, and that it’s a glorious one at the same time. The Berlin-Brandenburg native was there when the wall came down, started DJing in the 1990s at Subversiv, began producing with Errorsmith as MMM in 1996, held a residency at OstGut from 2000 on, continued doing so at Berghain since 2004, runs his own labels Fiedelone and Fiedeltwo, used to work at Hard Wax record store and is a mainstay at Wax Treatment and Killasan Soundsystem.

The old hand of Berlin’s Techno scene now presents himself fresh and in top form with his first full-length O-TON record, following up on his already intense contributions to our compilations Fünf (2010), Various (2013) and Ostgut Ton | Zehn (2015) with an even stronger three-tracker. Fiedel’s production style breathes the spirit from the early days of Techno music: blending genres and techniques, not focussing on a narrow musical narrative, combining Techno, Acid, Electro, Jungle, Boogie, Dub music and Broken Beats. Substance B is the logical consequence of being an avid vinyl-focussed DJ, experienced producer and a meticulous sound engineer: a compelling sound for a modern age.

The eponymous “Substance B” (on A) starts with a clear statement: play this out in a big, dark room, focus on the subs and tear off the roof while you’re at it. Departing from a clear idea which path to follow in the studio Fiedel constructed this high-energy, raving Techno belter around a doubled, heavy, bouncy bassline motif, with additional percussion and bubbling Acid lines slowly swelling until a jacking melody kicks in. Old school hasn’t felt so fresh and current for a long time.

“Track 432” on B1 evolved and assumed shape based on a phone-recorded sketch – a technique Fiedel enjoys to use now and then to pin down ideas on the go. Sonically we’re at the exact opposite end though: melody-wise this 7-minute lush, deep yet functional cut is reminiscent of shrill sirens, soon intertwined with cowbell jabs, all sitting atop a banging kickdrum and staccato-stabs from the drum machine. “S-Drive” closes this record on B2 with a tidied up and slower jam: its prancing, mesmerizing synth melody is the dominating element here, accompanied by a subtle kick and syncopated snare, hi-hat and other percussive components. Sounds best on wax.

Press Info:
Empty Vision provides the next pillar to the structure of Lanthan.audio and is the latest project of the italian-rooted Damiano Di Cagno. In addition he was able to convince Distant Echoes [Dystopian] and the well-known Chris Stanford to paraphrase his Visions.

Vision I gives an insight into a deep, abandoned space, reminds on a far away valley. Leaving it is accompanied by thundering spheres impressively.

Distant Echoes grasps this tension and turns it into a delightful and powerful interpretation which gives an affirmative spirit. Vision II goes ahead with a strong foundation pursued by congenial bizarre but memorable sounds that send you through the apparent infinity. Flattened with wide open spheres results here in a very solid dancefloor weapon.

Chris Stanford follows in similar manner, the foundations are well recognizable but he manages it to present the track in a different shape with putting his own stamp on it.

The last track – Vision III – slides us formally into our deepest core, before it opens in full beauty and rescues us from all vicious visions. It remembers us to the most important thing we are capable of giving, love, light and compassion.

Curtain on for Empty Vision.
