Press Info:
Uncompromising Italian DJ/producer The Southern makes his vinyl debut on Mutual Rytm’s sub-label, Spectra, with remixes from Alarico, Temudo and Sciahri.

An EP marking an impressive label debut, Carmine Portarulo, aka The Southern, lands on Mutual Rytm’s sub- label Spectra with a powerful showcase of his much-loved sound. With the lead track featuring as one of label head SHDW’s most requested IDs of the year so far, and packaged alongside outstanding remixes by close label associates Alarico, Temudo and Sciahri, the EP comes having established himself with a sound rooted in old school value and pure techno, favouring energy and authenticity over hype.

The track’s backstory comes from the moment Carmine and his partner found out they were expecting a child and went for their first ultrasound appointment. Overwhelmed by the emotion of the moment and the beauty of what nature is capable of, he returned home and poured those feelings into the music. The result, ‘Ultrasound’, is an anthemic, punchy techno cut with euphoric energy rising up through the synths and its catchy lead melody. Joyful melodies sparkle amid vocal groans, adding a raw emotional pull as the warm, driving drums march on.

Berlin-based artist Alarico is the first to remix on his return to the label, and his ‘Sad Mix’ has a more melancholic mood, with dark chords and tightly programmed drums that bring lo-key funk. Hayes Collective founder Temudo also returns and flips the vibe on his ‘Neuro Interpretation’ with a more psyched-out, twisted tune featuring trippy synths and booming drums for peak-time impact. Italo-Iranian Sublunar Records head Sciahri then drops his trance- inducing, hypotonic ‘Tunnel Vision Mix’, followed by two digital bonuses: ‘The Stripped Mix’, a bouncy workout with futuristic melodies, and Temudo’s ‘Neuro Interpretation 2’, which is raw, textured, and dark.

Press Info:
Mutual Rytm spawns new sub-label ‘Versus’ with debut EP from longtime techno associates Regent and Chontane.

Continuing to expand its creative world, SHDW’s Mutual Rytm imprint now introduces ‘Versus’ – a new sub-label crafted for creative symbiosis between two artists across one shared release. Opening the series with authority, Regent and Chontane man the debut offering – two close friends and native Berliners who have been shaping techno for more than 15 years. Both long-standing members of the Mutual Rytm family, having
released multiple times here before, the pair have always created music informed by life immersed in their local scene. Having both mutually influenced one another over the years, here they present their shared
interpretation of techno with individual artistic DNA, forming a unified sound that represents the best of both worlds.

Regent goes first, leaning towards functional, anthemic, dance-floor-focused techno. ‘Ephemera’ is tight, minimal but forceful; ‘Slow Burn’ has synth tension rising through the dark, next to glitchy percussion; and ‘Afterglow’ lets in more light, bringing otherworldly synths that hang above the groove and consume your focus.

Chontane then explores a more musical and unconventional approach. ‘Plaxaric’ is supple, warm, and deep techno that tunnels into an abyss. ‘Grounding Factor’ is just as economical in design, but with introverted funk and evolving layers of sound. ‘Mental Lab’ spins out into complex rhythms inspired equally by IDM, jungle, and techno. It’s a mental workout as well as a physical one.

Both artists add a pair of digital bonus tracks. Regent’s ‘Control Room’ and ‘Rarely Enough’ deliver elevated, hypnotic tools, before Chontane’s ‘Escore’ and ‘Outside In’ bring extroverted drum patterns along with
contrasting melodic unease.

Press Info:
Italian techno innovator SLV returns with his second EP on Mutual Rytm, serving up a blend of raw analogue power and cinematic depth.

Sicily’s SLV is able to merge technical mastery with emotional resonance. His potent techno sounds have come via the likes of SHWD’s Mutual Rytm and Slam’s Soma, and unite timeless yet forward-thinking sonics. On ‘Fleeting Dreams’, he continues to refine his signature sound while channelling introspection and intensity into a collection of meticulously crafted cuts that balance precision and feeling, energy and space. Each track reveals a different side of his sonic identity: hypnotic rhythms intertwine with evolving soundscapes, while layers of distortion and melody merge into a dreamlike tension between the mechanical and the organic.

‘Fading Moments’ kicks off with a sleek blend of driving, supple kicks and warm synth ripples, while a euphoric vocal cry is buried deep to amp up the emotion. ‘Scenario’ then brings icy hi-hats and sinewy synths to give a futuristic feel to the unrelenting, high-pressure drums down low. ‘Daruma’ has a darker energy with menacing textures and paranoid FX bringing the rolling drums to life, while ‘Bass Grit’ has a hunched-up rhythm, with groaning pads and fizzing static electricity that charge up the party. To close, ‘Shimmer’ sinks down into a muscular and deep rhythm that’s marbled with restless synths and ever-rising tension.

In addition, digital bonus cuts ‘Trust’ and ‘1990’ offer different perspectives, with slamming drums, seductive vocals, and feisty synth loops making for two more bold, immersive techno weapons.

Press Info:
Chontane returns to Mutual Rytm with a more raw and aggressive sound than before across six powerful new tracks on his latest EP, ‘Permanent’.

Berlin-based Ukrainian DJ/producer Chontane has had a busy twelve months. Capped off by recently launching his own new TANE label, the exciting talent has been working hard to reinvent and refresh his sound in the studio. Mastering new techniques to push things to the next level, this EP and return to SHDW & Obscure Shape’s Mutual Rytm proves he has succeeded and then some. Where previous works on the likes of ARTS and Rekids were full and more melodic, here he has restricted himself and gone for a more visceral sound. Developed and built in all new ways with an innovative approach to sound design and arrangement, the tracks on the package showcase a more serious and harder-hitting side to his sound as he unveils his impactful ‘Permanent’ EP.

Opener ‘Graze’ has a monstrous feel to it, with ghoulish synth loops and industrial textures all coming on strong and heavy. As it bangs along, incendiary hi-hats and lithe pads all bring extra weight and detail. ‘Cumaru’ is a high-paced techno workout with a frenzy of synths and percussion, all making for dense layers of heavily textured sound. ‘Schima’ brings some big techno bounce in the drums and more hurried, rusty synth loops that lock you into the darkness. Showing yet another side, ‘Lauan’ is a little more paired back with pounding tribal grooves and bright synths, bringing relentless yet funk-fuelled intensity. ‘Vevis’ is the most melodic of the lot – a heavy track but with subtle optimism in the rising background synths that will surely get hands in the air.

Last of all is digital bonus ‘Makore’, a cauldron of intensity with scraping hits and relentless drums, vastly oversized hi-hats and slamming bass. This high-impact, beautifully brutal yet groove-heavy techno takes Chontane’s sound into new realms, and delivers an impressive return on a label continuing to push the genre forward.
