Trailblazing pop duo Goldfrapp celebrate two decades of their seminal third album Supernature with the release of the 20th Anniversary deluxe edition.

Originally released in 2005, Supernature was Goldfrapp’s era-defining masterpiece, a multi-layered sonic-pop thriller that shattered the electronic rulebook, replacing it with a radical, high-gloss vision of pop music at its most seductive and strange.

Supernature catapulted Goldfrapp into the pop stratosphere, spawning now-classic singles like “Ooh La La”, “Number 1”, and “Ride A White Horse”. The album topped charts worldwide, earned multi-platinum sales, garnered multiple BRIT and GRAMMY nominations.

Now reissued for its 20th anniversary, the deluxe edition offers fans the classic original album alongside B-sides, classic & brand new remixes, unreleased live radio session recordings and an Audio Blu-ray 5.1 surround mix. The release is presented across 3 CDs (2CD + Audio Blu-Ray) in deluxe packaging, alongside a stunning peacock-coloured double vinyl edition (the second disc being a remix 12” single EP), with everything cut at half speed for enhanced sound quality.

The new edition includes two brand new Goldfrapp remixes by Alison Goldfrapp & Will Gregory, with exclusive reinterpretations from Richard X, Sun’s Signature (Elizabeth Fraser (Cocteau Twins) & Damon Reece (Massive Attack, Spiritualized).

With the release of this deluxe edition, Goldfrapp don’t just revisit Supernature, they reaffirm its enduring influence in 2025’s musical landscape and beyond.

Dark, seductive, beguiling, shimmering and deeply cinematic, this is the essence of the esoteric music created by the singular Goldfrapp. A blessed collaboration between composer, vocalist, whistler and keyboardist Alison Goldfrapp and composer Will Gregory, Goldfrapp have forged one of the most remarkable debut albums in recent years – Felt Mountain.

Taking some inspiration from classical music, movie soundtracks, 60’s French pop and decadent Weimar Republic cabaret, Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory have fashioned a thrilling and unique 21st Century noir vision. Conventional instruments mix with fractured left field electronic frequencies to form Goldfrapp’s sumptuous passionate reinvention of popular music. Bittersweet melodies blend with eruptions of noise, all to heighten the tension of the unfolding emotional drama. In essence a rural soundscape that deliberately avoids the vagaries of passing musical fads, Goldfrapp’s ambiguous widescreen songs seem to evoke metaphorical images of mad love, seemingly beautiful yet terrifying future societies, half remembered dreams/conversations and sinister androids in human form.

Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory’s intoxicating music veers always between overwhelming elation and shattering heartbreak, as any great romance should. Imbued with a state of childlike wonder, Goldfrapp’s Felt Mountain is an exhilarating yet defiantly undefinable experience that quickens the pulse and inflames the senses. Violence, loneliness and danger are ever near in the mix, as is love, tenderness and the hope of redemption.

Once Upon A Time… Alison Goldfrapp studied Fine Art Painting at Middlesex University and during the course of her work began to experiment; combining music with extravagant performance, visual and sound installation pieces. Though these experiences were rewarding and liberating for Alison she knew music was her only real vocation. Before she had even left college, Alison was already working with Tricky on his debut album. Having successfully collaborated with various artists throughout the 90s, including her friends Orbital and touring extensively with Tricky, Alison Goldfrapp desperately felt that her own unadulterated personal creative urges needed to be fully expressed. Alison desired to create music that was timeless, focussed and truly epic in scope.

During the late 90s a mutual friend played a tape of Alison’s compositions to Will Gregory. Gregory, a film composer (the British football hooligan picture ID is among his credits) was deeply impressed with Alison’s distinctive voice, music and lyrics. Discussion ensued between the pair, followed by an exchange of tapes containing some of Alison and Will’s favourite musical pieces and songs by other artists. Alison and Will soon realised that they shared so much common ground with their musical tastes and their own songwriting, that Goldfrapp was simply inevitable.

Retreating from any urban distractions, in the late summer of 1999, Alison and Will created a studio in an old bungalow near Bath deep in the leafy Wiltshire countryside. The pair would write, record and mix their album for the next five months. This was the sound of their collective musical dream, both avant garde and traditional, acknowledging no boundaries.

Once Upon A Time there was a certain cinematic music… Goldfrapp’s Felt Mountain music.

Goldfrapp’s debut album, Felt Mountain is out on Mute on the 11th September and will be followed by the single Utopia in October.

Mute / BMG have announced the long-awaited vinyl reissue of Goldfrapp’s third album, Supernature – out on 14th August 2020. The new edition of the album will be available on transparent green vinyl, packaged in a gatefold sleeve with an exclusive art print of the original artwork.

Originally Supernature marks the point when Goldfrapp brought their sound to an even wider global audience – the Grammy nominated album debuted at #2 in the UK Albums Chart and the album’s lead single, the pulsing, sophisticated, glam-pop dynamo ‘Ooh La La’, went straight to #4 in the UK Singles Chart.

The album generated further hits in the form of ‘Number 1’, ‘Ride a White Horse’ and ‘Fly Me Away’. Described by The Guardian as “a brash, beautiful celebration of love and dancing”, the album is a colossal, multi-layered, sonic-pop thriller, a radical, confident, bold record that took a joyous step forward from 2003’s Black Cherry.

Fresh off the back of their recent stunning performance on ‘Later With Jools Holland’ and a sold out European tour, Goldfrapp are set to release a brand new version of ‘Utopia’, one of the highlights from their debut long player “Felt Mountain” which is recognised by critics and fans alike across the globe as one of the Albums of the Year.

Set for release on June 11th, the new ‘genetically enriched‘ ‘Utopia’ comes backed with brilliant new remixes by the likes of Tom Middleton, Jori Hilkonnen and Tim Wright.

Tom Middleton, currently on a roll with his ‘Play To Win’ single and recent remixes for Junior, Hooj Choons and All Saints delivers two mixes. The superb ‘Cosmos Vocal Mix’, blends Goldfrapp’s exquisite orchestration with a rolling break and a deep house groove, while ‘Cosmos Acid Dub Mix’ is a far more twisted affair and is already heavily supported by the likes of Digweed, Tenaglia and Deep Dish. The much lauded Finnish producer Jori Hulkonnen combines Alison Goldfrapp’s unique vocals with a groove and melody which recall the sounds of early Detroit Techno whilst perfectly retaining the distinctive mood of “Felt Mountain”, while Tim Wright lends his own brand of twisted break beat which is currently a permanent fixture in the record box of Fatboy Slim amongst many others.
