Press Info:
Nicolas Bougaïeff presents a new four-track EP On The Grid. Set for release on 21 June 2019 via NovaMute, this is the final instalment in a series of EPs inspired by Greg Egan’s sci-fi novel Permutation City (1994).

In Egan’s far-future world, mankind has the option to upload their consciousness onto computers. On The Grid is focused on the evolution of a character that makes radical alterations to his identity by sculpting his own memories. Bougaïeff delivers four club friendly tracks inspired by this transformation as the character observes, confronts, rejects and finally escapes the dystopian scenario.

Opening track ‘Eden Configuration’ combines a monolithic synth line with propulsive bass grooves. ‘Rip Tie Cut Toy Man’ introduces a furtive synth melody tucked beneath rhythmic rumbles. Bougaïeff’s voice is featured for the first time on the stripped back title track ‘On The Grid’, a playful alternative to dark dystopia. The result is a fast and upbeat cut, reminiscent of 90s minimal yet delivered with punchy modern production. Closer ‘Skyscraper Model’ features a fluid acid line amidst reverberating warehouse beats, providing a sense of energetic resolution.

“I enjoy making music inspired by books, it gives me the opportunity to create a musical embodiment of what would otherwise be purely imaginary visions. Do you know that thing where you see what’s happening in your mind’s eye? I like making music that acts as the soundtrack for that imaginary cinema. I was producing these tracks a few weeks before my first Berghain gig, so I was obviously keen to make bangers. These tracks are the resulting overlap between me geeking out on these sci-fi stories and soundtracking my favourite club.”

The first EP in the triptych, Dust, was released in 2018 on Max Cooper’s Mesh label and was followed by Permutation Djinn on NovaMute later that year.

On The Grid will follow new releases on NovaMute from latest signing Fidelity Kastrow and a return from Terence Fixmer.

Press Info:
Suicide’s genuinely classic and highly influential eponymous debut album.

As part of the ‘Art Of The Album’ series, the album will be re-mastered and re-issued on CD, Red Vinyl and download.

This edition includes exclusive photographs and extensive sleeve notes by John Doran exploring the impact of the band through ‘The Times’, ‘The Key Players’, ‘The Song Writing’, ‘The Production’, ‘The Impact’ and ‘The Legacy’

Although the band barely received any credit at the time, Suicide (vocals: Alan Vega and electronics: Martin Rev) were inspirational for numerous English synth pop bands throughout the 80’s.

Having originally formed in 1970, Suicide lay dormant for several years before they re-emerged in 1976 at the heart of the punk scene centred on CBGB’s club in New York where the likes of The Ramones, Patti Smith and Television also found initial recognition.

Really, four decades later, we are only just now counting the positive cost of their influence across genres such as techno, noise, electro clash, goth, synth pop, psych and industrial.

Suicide’s influence was immediately seen in the rise of bands like Soft Cell, Depeche Mode and The Jesus And Mary Chain.

Elsewhere they have had been praised widely by Nick Cave, Jim Thirlwell and M.I.A. and count Jason Pierce (Spacemen 3 / Spiritualized), Lydia Lunch, Bobby Gillespie, Nik Void of Factory Floor and Savages as fans.

The album was originally released in December 1977 on the Red Star label run by Marty Thau (former manager of The New York Dolls).

Press Info:
Daniel Avery broadens the exquisite sonic universe established on last year’s critically-acclaimed sophomore LP Song For Alpha, presenting the collected B-sides & Remixes. Showcasing cuts from the album’s writing and recording process, furthermore, Avery also invites a number of his contemporaries and some of the most vital underground producers in the world to rework his original material, with transformative results.

Further demonstrating the twin shades of euphoria and melancholy at the heart of Avery’s work, ‘Under The Tallest Arch’ merges tough, laser-focus breaks with a choral sound design that soars upwards to dramatic and dreamlike effect. This fresh cut introduces a collection that affords time dwelling outside of the margins of where club and home listening music intersect, perhaps further blurring the boundaries. Waves of spectral noise roll with energy, while pristine breakbeats intersect with introspective, subtle acid lines. Once more, close your eyes, press repeat.

Produced solely and exhaustively in his London studio, the lengthy recording process for Song For Alpha spanned some years, as Avery continued to tour, collaborate and experiment as a producer. Left with over 100 tracks that were eventually distilled into his sophomore album, ‘B Sides & Remixes’ delves into the parallel universe of music that arose from these tireless, creative sessions.

Meanwhile, the collected remixes span a spectrum of new and established names. Jon Hopkins, Actress and Four Tet each contribute typically bold reinterpretations of Song for Alpha’s standards, the latter originally released as a limited-edition twelve-inch at London festival Field Day.

Deeper still, the collections highlights remixes from uncompromising, underground producers such as Giant Swan, Manni Dee, Mor Elian, Inga Mauer and Anastasia Kristensen. Close friend and occasional DJ partner HAAi premieres a brand new remix, as does Avery’s studio neighbour and collaborator as PSSU, Richard Fearless. Meanwhile, pioneering techno acts Surgeon, Luke Slater and Patrick Russell apply their individual sensibilities, complimenting the album’s heritage of experimental electronics.

Press Info:
In a career that spans two entire decades, Terence Fixmer first reached worldwide recognition and praise with the release of his debut album “Muscle Machine” on DJ Hell ?s seminal International Deejay Gigolos imprint in 1999. The album opened a whole new genre, which combined Electro, Industrial, EBM and Techno into a more dance floor focused EBM style called “Techno Body Music”. Some of the album tracks like for example “Electrostatic”, “Body Pressure” or “Electric Vision” became massive hits and remain classics of today. Ever since the release of this groundbreaking debut long- player, the French producer and live act has consistently explored and redefined the boundaries of modern Techno and is showing no signs of slowing down.

Another genre-defining move took place in 2003 when he teamed up with Nitzer Ebb lead singer Douglas Mccarthy to form Fixmer/McCarthy. The partnership pushed the genre of Techno EBM to the maximum and resulted in two full-length albums, ‘Between The Devil’ (2004) and ‘Into The Night’ (2008). The duo has performed their energetic live sets at numerous renowned clubs and festivals all across the globe, functioning as a bridge between the Techno scene on one side, and the alternative EBM/Gothic scene on the other side. Apart from the trend-setting releases they also played many of the big Techno festivals such as “I Love Techno”, “Monegros Desert Festival”, as well as “Wave Gothic Treffen” or “Mera Luna” alongside Marilyn Manson. Fixmer/McCarthy earned loads of respect in the global scene for their unique way of creating truly pioneering sound fusions by elegantly blending the aggression of Techno Body Music and the sensuality of Electronica.

In the years to come, Fixmer experimented with increasingly deep and dubby atmospheres and finally re-invented himself with his fourth solo album on Speedy J ?s label Electric Deluxe in 2010. ‘Comedy of Menace’ is a true Techno album, dark, hypnotic and energetic, and received massive critical acclaim amongst his international peers and fans. Further releases on Electric Deluxe, Prologue, CLR, Deeply Rooted and his own label Planete Rouge have since followed, proving Fixmer’s continued relevance and restless drive to create simultaneously experimental, mind-bending, ruthless and unrelenting sounds, way beyond the musical mainstream. His productions frequently appear in the playlists of countless internationally respected colleagues and have been featured on several notable mix CDs and podcasts by some of the biggest players in the world of Electronic Music, such as Laurent Garnier, Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann, Function, Agoria, Daniel Miller, Juan Atkins, Jon Hopkins, to name a few. He is currently playing the most happening venues worldwide and is continuously gaining new fans along the way.

It has often been quoted that Terence Fixmer’s music maintains musical depth and integrity, even in a club- or festival-context, and that it appeals as much to dancing feet, as it does to the searching soul. His upcoming fifth solo album, which will be released on CLR in early 2015, proves this claim with certainty and excellence.
