Glasgow techno institution Soma Records celebrate 35 years with specially-curated SOMA35 EP remix series.

Celebrating a truly vital and enduring presence in the global techno landscape, Soma Records’ 35 Year anniversary project will be brought to life through a series of specially-curated remix EPs.

Co-founded in 1991 by the iconic electronic music duo Slam, Dave Clarke, and Glenn Gibbons, the Glasgow-based Soma label is a techno institution. With a long-standing reputation for quality and longevity, the imprint has played a foundational role in the development of techno both in the UK and worldwide, and in the discovery and support of exceptional musical talent.

Showcasing the breath of Soma’s reach across the techno scene past and present, the SOMA35 EP project brings together a selection of the biggest names in techno that Slam and Soma have worked with over the years, alongside new artists whose sound naturally aligns with the label’s distinct sonic identity.

It’s only fitting that label heads Slam kick off this landmark project, marking a colossal milestone – the label’s 700th release – with ‘SOMA 35.1’. This specially-curated release features powerful reinterpretations of Slam’s seminal track “Vapour” by Mark Broom and FJAAK, alongside fresh remixes of the classic “Program” by Vril and Linear Phase.

Berlin’s Non Reversible returns after a short hiatus to make it a hat trick of solo releases with Soma. After taking some time to focus on his sound, Non Reversible has crafted an excellent, driving and hypnotic release with the Resolute EP.

Title track Resolute opens with a hard beat and clanking, twisted percussive elements that drive the rhythm before Disordine ramps up the intensity with its energetic drums and siren like synths. Plurality keeps the intensity going with high octane energy from the opening as Darshan closes out the EP hypnotic, looping tones delivered and break neck speed.
