Berlin’s Non Reversible returns after a short hiatus to make it a hat trick of solo releases with Soma. After taking some time to focus on his sound, Non Reversible has crafted an excellent, driving and hypnotic release with the Resolute EP.

Title track Resolute opens with a hard beat and clanking, twisted percussive elements that drive the rhythm before Disordine ramps up the intensity with its energetic drums and siren like synths. Plurality keeps the intensity going with high octane energy from the opening as Darshan closes out the EP hypnotic, looping tones delivered and break neck speed.

Uncompromising techno from Berlin’s Non Reversible

Berlin’s own Non Reversible makes a welcome return to Soma with his latest release, the Mental Absorbing EP. Non Reversible’s commitment to the harder and darker sides of techno once again shine through on this uncompromising 4 track EP.

Fearless Approach is a perfect of example of Non Reversible’s relentless sound design as thumping kicks drive across a backbone of distortion and propulsive percussion before breaking into buzzing synths and screeching pads. Mental Absorbing keeps up the momentum as the Berlin based produced once again challenges you to stay strong against his dynamic and resolute techno; with wild and twisted acid basslines warping against siren like synths. Deviance leans on a more industrial tip with much more prominent distortion in the sound design but doesn’t lack in direct and solid flow as this is definitely a heads down, dance floor based weapon. Biological Efficiency closes out the EP with much of the same ferocity found throughout the rest of the release. A seriously dark and dirty affair, this is certainly no ordinary closing track as aggression levels are dialled up to 11.

Glasgow’s Quail + AISHA return for 3rd Soma EP

Glasgow Techno stalwarts Quail + AISHA are back on home turf for their 3rd release on Soma with the Sunna EP. Following up last year’s ‘Leatherbound EP’ the pair’s collective works have brought around three new hard hitting, banging tracks that merge their love of Techno’s various disciplines into one cohesive pack.

Title track Sunna offers up the EP’s darker and more sinister tone. Heavy kicks and fierce rolling synths drive across this propellant track. Gower has a more upbeat feel but the duo keep things dance floor ready with their typically hard and fast style; layering up percussion steadily as a twisted synth hook steadily unfolds throughout. Stim closes out the EP and has the Glasgow based duo on a slightly more deeper and contemplative tip. Sturdy percussive workouts are the backbone of the track while atmospheric, morphing pads and synths take control as the soul of the track.

Portuguese based Nørbak returns to Soma with his second single for the label, the Myelination EP. Nørbak is quickly making a name for himself in the global scene and has just complete his debut album to much critical acclaim. The young producer has built a wealth of knowledge on sound design and is Cleary represented in his music which is deep and rich in sonic experiments whilst retaining dancefloor focus. This latest EP has Spanish Techno maestro Oscar Mulero & fellow Portuguese talent Lewis Fautzi, deliver two fantastic remixes that perfectly compliment the originals.

Nørbak’s ‘Myelination’ starts the EP with driving percussive elements that propel the track from the opening. Swamped with light & ethereal FX, dark and droning sounds take the track down a ominous path. Lewis Fautzi steps up next with his remix of Myelination A more minimalistic interpretation he manages to continue the dark and direct momentum of the original. On the flip, Mirante rattle hards with steady and precise percussion, bolted together with heavy rolling kicks and sub and a perfectly muted rhythm throughout. Techno don Oscar Mulero closes the EP with his version of Mirante. He immediately ups the ante with driving 909 beats and huge atmospheric FX that guide the rhythms. Mulero always on point with his signature sound design and techno aesthetic.
