Der rothaarige Labelmitbegründer liefert unter seinem alter Ego RØDHÅD drei verzaubernde Tracks mit Schnittmenge zu experimentelleren Klängen in “Blindess” (A1) sowie potentiellen Techno-Dystopien auf A2 “Patient Zero” und B1 “Hope”.
Gerade “Patient Zero” beeindruckt durch stringenten Groove gepaart mit einprägender Melodie, wogegen “Hope” deutlich auf maximale Schubkraft Richtung Hoffnung aus ist.

The Brussels Pony Club was founded in September 2010. It’s a private club for gentlemen, gentlewomen and, of course, ponies. It’s a haven of peace and all it’s sweet sounds. At least it is in the daytime. For those who have the courage, at night it welcomes all kinds of nighthawks and with them the dark and electric atmosphere that comes with it.
The sound is best described as a mix between Blues and minimal electro.
It’s a strange combination and a powerful one. A combination that is meant to dig into your soul and make you move, make you lose yourself. An atmosphere that is meant to make you forget that there are walls everywhere around us, and that freedom is a state of mind.
There is no admission fee and no need for a member’s card. All the bouncer will ask for is what you’re looking for and whatever you say; as long as you’re honest you’ll be let into the Blue electric mist that is Brussels Pony Club.
Brussels Piano Club is the very first release by Brussels based duo, Brussels Pony club.
It features the original track which lingers between minimal, electronics and jazz.? An unmistakable rhodes riff driven by groovy bassline takes you deep into the piano club. This is what the song is all about.. welcome to the Brussels Piano Club. The raw crooner voice of Parsifal on top of the mix answeres the piercing sax melody like in a perfect love story.
The single also features three remixes by producers which are all based in the capital, which makes this release a 100% Brussels piece of art.
Nathan Oye’s Sovjet Mix brings up the darkest side of the track. Playing with reversed vocals, which make it look like the singer came from some East European countryside and a melancholic melody at the end. This results in a much deeper and more nostalgic sound.
Bernard & Bianca’s stripped it down to the essientials. Focusing on a rhode driven ambiance combined with an old school Detroit influenced structure.
Geoff Wichmann, brings us a much more clubby version by smoothing things down a little while adding a groovy hypnotic bassline and melody.

Diamond Version release EP2 on 12” and download on 26 November 2012. Featuring the tracks Science For A Better Life, Shift The Future and Forever New Frontiers, this is the next installment in a sequence of five 12″ / download EPs released throughout 2012 and 2013, culminating in an album in 2013.
With playful humour, Diamond Version explore Daily Short Message Information Culture (DSMC), their phrase to describe the relentless slogans we are bombarded with, rendered meaningless by their constant repetition. “We both are obsessed with company logos,” explain Diamond Version. “We collected these slogans and started reading them, without knowing the companies. In this amount and concentration they become absurd.”

EP2 follows EP1: Technology At The Speed Of Life / Empowering Change, described by The Wire as “metallic ring modulated tones gleam in the dark always driven forward by a malevolent computational funk”.
Diamond Version is the collaborative project between two of the most groundbreaking, experimental and forward thinking creators in modern music, Byetone and Alva Noto. As joint heads of the German-based label Raster-Noton, with their solo projects, they have been releasing work that spectacularly blurs the lines between the visceral and the conceptual, bridging the gap between gallery and dancefloor.
“Diamond Version is a project born out of a live situation. We occasionally performed encores together after our solo sets. These spontaneous and improvised tracks always had a kind of “special energy” which we missed in our solo works.” The debut of their audio-visual live performance, with special guest Atsuhiro Ito, was at Sonar 2012, reviewed here by The Quietus, http://thequietus.com/articles/09113-diamond-version-sonar-live-review. Nach ihrer ersten EP “Technology At The Speed Of Life / Empowering Change” legen Diamond Version nun mit der zweiten EP nach. Insgesamt sind bis 2013 fünf EPs geplant, am Ende steht die Veröffentlichung eines Albums. Die am 23.11.2012 erscheinende EP2 wird als 12″ und Download erhältlich sein und enthält die Tracks Science For A Better Life, Shift The Future und Forever New Frontiers.
Diamond Version, wir sagten es bereits, ist eine Kollaboration zweier Innovatoren moderner Musik, Byetone und Alva Noto. Als führende Köpfe des Chemnitzer Labels Raster-Noton und mit ihren Solo-Projekten Alva Noto (Carsten Nicolai) und Byetone (Olaf Bender) arbeiten die beiden seit geraumer Zeit an der Grenze von intuitiver und konzeptueller Kunst, einer Verbindung Galerie und Dancefloor. “Diamond Version ist aus der Live-Situation heraus geboren. Wir performten bei passenden Gelegenheiten zusammen Zugaben nach unseren Solo-Sets. Diese spontanen und improvisierten Tracks hatten immer eine ganz spezielle Energie, die wir in unseren Solo Projekten vermisst hatten”, erklären Nicolai und Bender. “Mit Diamond Version versuchen wir, diese Energie einzufangen und sie dabei gleichzeitig mit unseren konzeptuellen Ideen zu kombinieren. Zum Beispiel sind wir jeden Tag mit der Daily Short Message Information Culture (DSMC) konfrontiert. Die spezielle Ästhetik, die in diesem System herrscht, wurde ein starkes Thema für uns und eine Art Blaupause für die visuelle Umsetzung des Diamond Version Projekts.”
Die Ästhetik von Diamond Version offenbart sich folglich aufgeladen mit surrealem und subversivem Humor, was sich durch eine an Werbe-Slogans und Marken-Logos angelehnte Ikonographie äußert. “Wir beide sind geradezu besessen von Logos!”, sagt Nicolai. “Wir sammelten Slogans und lasen sie, ohne zu wissen, was für Firmen hinter ihnen stecken. Aber ab einer gewissen Menge und Konzentration wurden sie ohnehin einfach absurd.”
Das Duo Nicolai und Bender ist seit Chemnitzer Teenager-Zeiten miteinander bekannt. Eine gemeinsame Basis war schnell gefunden. “Carsten und ich teilen ein starkes Interesse für rhythmische Musik. Und wir haben einen gemeinsamen Geschmack, was Ästhetik im Generellen angeht, und auch in Puncto Design. Wir stehen beide auf einen gewissen Grad von Roughness. Mit Diamond Version folgen wir diesem Pfad. Wir sind keine DJs und allein von daher schon ist es nicht unser Anspruch, Anbieter einer Musik für soziale Situationen zu sein”, erklärt Bender. Das ist ihnen gelungen.
Eine Version von Shift The Future wurde dieses Jahr auf dem No Nukes Festival 2012 in Japan gespielt. Kuratiert wurde das Festival gegen die Wiedereröffnung des Atomkraftwerks Oi von Ryuichi Sakamoto, der schon mehrmals mit Alva Noto zusammen arbeitete.

It’s hard to believe that the last Marcel Dettmann 12“ on Ostgut Ton, the „Translation EP“, was released over a year ago already, as its frequent presence on the dancefloors is still ongoing. With an impressive back catalogue on Ostgut Ton, Marcel spent the last year cementing his status as one of the leading Techno DJs and despite his high workload, impresses again and again with innovative and uncompromising quality sets. Now he delivers new original material on his mother label and again sets standards with his unique style.
The dark brooding atmospheres of the first track „Range“ set the mood of this EP with prodigious and strangely affecting sounds that seem to filter straight out of a machine driven future. The journey continues with the menacing beat of „Iso“ with percussion and hiss that keep a deep underground feel.
On the B-Side Dettmann opens with „Push“, a layered robotic vocal reaches out from the depths and the driven beat and flanged hi-hats whip up a subtle frenzy until „Allies“ – a track featured on Ben Klock’s recent Fabric Mix – surprises with a jacking groove. The mood is light by Dettmann standards, halfway through the track a bittersweet synth expanse adds a new angle that seems to envelope the listener for a comfortable final moment before the EP closes.

Marcel Dettmann’s letzte 12“ für Ostgut Ton, die „Translation EP“, ist nach über einem Jahr noch immer auf den Tanzflächen präsent. Dettmann festigte im letzten Jahr seinen Status als einer der gefragtesten Techno-DJs weiter und liefert hier erneut beeindruckendes Material für sein Stammlabel Ostgut Ton ab. Die vier Tracks der „Range EP“ beweisen wieder einmal, dass Marcel nicht nur bei seinen DJ Sets auf innovative Sounds setzt.
Die düstere Atmosphäre des ersten Tracks „Range“ verströmt mit Hilfe von gezielten Akzenten und Sounds eine Stimmung, die aus einer fernen Zukunft zu stammen scheint. Die Reise geht mit „Iso“ in subterrane Tiefen weiter – ein unerbittlicher Beat zieht stoisch seine Bahnen und gibt den einzigen Anhalt in der fauchenden Dunkelheit.
Auf der B-Seite „Push“ schraubt sich ein vielschichtiges, artifizielles Vocal empor, das von strengen Beats und HiHats langsam aber sicher in den Wahnsinn getrieben wird. Zum Abschluss der EP präsentiert Dettmann das für seine Verhältnisse eher leichtfüßige „Allies“, ein Track der schon auf dem neuen Fabric-Mix von Ben Klock zu hören war. Marcel kontrastiert hier einen jackenden Groove mit melancholisch gefärbten Harmonien, die dieser kompromisslosen EP einen ruhigen Ausklang bescheren.
