Press Info:
Adam X is back with his third album release under his industrial guise, ADMX-71. Following releases with the legendary label Hands and his own imprint, Sonic Groove Experiments, Adam paired up with L.I.E.S Records in 2014 for Redacted Files, a 12” single of slowed-down and tense EBM wizardry. Adam returns to the L.I.E.S. front with Coherent Abstractions, a brand new album of singular experiments that pull from every corner of electronic music‘s landscape into a comprehensive and propulsive full-length.

Coherent Abstractions pulsates with fractured rhythms, vacillating melodies and mesmerizing compositions that showcase Adam‘s impressive history working in all aspects of the underbelly of electronic music. Noise and industrial elements seep into the album‘s 11 songs, churning the cold and abrasive into feverish new territory. Though Coherent Abstractions operates primarily in sounds of solitude, guest vocalist Janina joins Bound and Broken for a rare vocal collaboration on an ADMX-71 track. We also hear a frantic vocal performance from the producer on Nearing Obliteration which is undoubtedly the apex of the album.

Throughout the album the music sweeps from breakbeat noir, anxious electronic dub to reflective industrial modes making Coherent Abstractions an engaging and varied listen, updating a late 80‘s EBM tone into modern sound design environments, while pushing a reverence for the past and heading into the deep unknown of the future.

For those unfamiliar with Adam‘s deeply rooted history in the New York underground, he and his brother, Frankie Bones, pioneered techno in a post-disco, pre-Guiliani, New York City through the late-eighties and onwards past the nineties producing countless records under various guises and finally opening their own shop and record label, Sonic Groove. At the same time they began throwing renegade parties, known as STORM RAVE throughout the 5 boroughs, which was until this time unheard of in such a major U.S. metropolis and opened the door for what was to come. Their record store Sonic Groove served as an essential hub for purchasing cutting edge electronic music from which they imported from across the globe. The shop also functioned as a crucial meeting point for likeminded freaks throughout the city to exchange ideas. Furthermore, Adam was one of the most notorious train writers in the history of NYC graffiti as he trespassed the system and infiltrated train yards during a time when it was thought that the yards were impenetrable. After deciding to exit the world of graffiti he focused his energy solely on music. As time went by we‘ve heard Adam transform his sound from fast paced hard techno to metal beat driven industrialized EBM, the sounds of the train yard always present in his music carrying him forward.

Track 5 is digital-only.

Press Info:
atom™‘s ep »riding the void« is, together with the visual works of »HD+«, the conclusion of his critical yet delightful examination of pop music and culture on raster-noton.

like the previous ep »ich bin meine maschine«, »riding the void« is set up very functionally, aiming at being used in the club. techno maverick scuba, for example, turns the track with his »pulse mix« into a straight and dense march, whereas atom™ himself shakes the groove out of »riding the void« with his own two lighthearted remixes. his »nought remix« presents itself as slimmed-down yet very vibrant, while »tool« is a perfectly dance floor-ready reinterpretation of the original track. furthermore, an additional remix by hanno leichtmann can be found on the digital version of the release.

the ep will be available in bundle with atom™‘s data dvd »HD+« as well as separately. so far, there were released the full-length album »HD« (r-n147) and the 12-inch ep »ich bin meine maschine« (r-n146).

Press Info:
The Lakker ‘Tundra’ album is one of 2015’s finest electronic albums and has garnered praise from all quarters:

PITCHFORK “Sounds like the apocalyptic lovechild of Fuck Buttons and Clark.” – [Overlooked records 2015]
MIXMAG “Tundra’ has all the sonic intensity of an R&S classic.”
GUARDIAN “Ambitious, restless blend of choral chirrups and industrial techno murk – but which all holds together anthemically.”

This remix collection features a group of very talented producers bringing us their personal interpretations of the original album tracks.

Leading with Mark Fell’s amazing reductive version of ‘Oktavist’ the remix package also features Spaces (who co-produced ‘Quicksand’ on the last Bjork album), Kyoka (Raster Norton), Primitive World (Sam from Walls), Acid Mondays (Ibiza), new comer Lahun and last but by no means least the Lakker guys themselves under their Eomac and Arad aliases.

A 12” sampler is also available that features the Mark Fell and Kyoka remixes cut loud on a side of vinyl each.

Press Info:
The recent series of black label 10” singles published by Max_M via his M_Rec Ltd. have come to explore another variation of the sound that the late Italian producer loved so dearly. Focusing on mood and melodies, especially heartfelt and experimental, these releases stemmed from the hypnotic techno that gained the label its success, taking a turn for leftfield atmospheres and emotional nerve.

The fourth episode in the series comes as a 2-track 12” which sees Max_M collaborate with Wrong Assessment, the young Italian producer who recently debuted with another 12” on M_Rec Ltd. After developing an honest and mutual respect for each other’s ideas and integrity, the two have collaborated extensively before Max departure, sharing bills around Europe and spending large amounts of time in the studio.

1004A features that slow crescendo of hypnotic modular sounds that M_Rec Ltd. is widely recognized for, but halfway through the track, it delivers a solemn and epic melody, with sharp synths overlapping to produce something ominous and dooming. All throughout, the beat pattern mutates around an aggressive bass drum making the track a perfect example of earnest and captivating techno.

On the other side, 1004B is groovier and more psychedelic, with layers and layers of soundscapes reminding us of the heyday of ambient music (think of Global Communication) and those epic early Underground Resistance 12”s. It’s a beautiful trip, aided by a fluid, but equally stoic bass drum that makes the track perfect for a set of mindbending techno.

Following the recent loss of Max_M to cancer, this release represents his final production work to come out on his own M_Rec Ltd. We believe it embodies everything Max loved about techno and we’re very proud for these tracks to find their way onto Max’s beloved wax.
