After a brief hiatus, Knowledge Imprint is back with it’s eleventh release. With a refreshed visual identity but the same musical vision, the label starts the journey of its next set of releases with label-owner Deano’s Monomaker EP. Joining this release is renowned Dutch artist Tripeo with his remix of the title track.

‘Monomaker’ sets the tone of the A-side with its stripped-back, trippy qualities. Employing subtle shifts in percussion and synth patterns, it’s delicateness is countered by a strong low-end making it the ideal functional track for any part of a set. Tripeo’s remix however flips things around. Whilst some elements from the original are still clearly defined, he opts for a far more spontaneous approach to the arrangement and sound design. With tweaked out synth sequences, pads and upfront drum patterns, his rendition recalls the style of some early Detroit techno without loosing the essence of the original.

The B-side of the EP turns things up a notch. ‘Nullsymbol’ keeps a relentless drive that makes it perfect for the peak time. With strong, rhythmic drums and key moments of tension and release, it preempts the final track of the B-side. ‘Twentysix’ closes out the package with a loopy excursion also grounded in rhythmic drums and trippy synth patterns. As an added bonus to the digital package, ‘Thirdreaction’ combines many of the above-mentioned characteristics in a wild, undulating, synth-focussed composition.

Blueprint continues to celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2021 and to follow James Ruskin’s ‘Shortcut’ EP (BP058) and ‘Sketch’ (BP059), which saw Ruskin team up with Truncate for the first time, he now returns to one of his regular cohorts and fellow UK techno luminary, Mark Broom with the follow-up to their 2020 release, ‘Basement Jams’.

‘Basement Jams 2’ is comprised of five new slices of scorching techno from this distinguished duo, who in the past have also brought us dark experimentalism as The Fear Ratio and inspired hip-hop as Deadhand. Now returning to their techno roots, ‘Basement Jams 2’ is primed with dance floor (not long now!) destroyers.

Following this release, there’s more to come with a James Ruskin and DVS1 EP in July and a special BP25 compilation later this year.

We celebrate our resident devil on this 45th edition for the Voxnox Fam: Lucinee’s „We Trip And Roll“ proves from the very first kick – the future is techno. Siren pads pair up with smart vocal lines on the so titled A-side, eventually switching back and forth from heavy hi-hat thunder and pulsing energy to more complexity for a never-ending flow.

The attached remix by Wallis takes the original vibe even further by kicking in with its synthesizer, building heavy drumming on top to keep you escalated, especially when the chord progressions switch the mood just to kick in for the drop again.
„Bang Juice“ keeps the vibe rolling when tiny vocal points meet drum effects, ending up in clever arp progressions and a rhythmically conscious arrangement, ready to squeeze some serious juice out of the subwoofers.

Oslo-based MRD takes over the remix for „Bang Juice“, delivering deep pulsing atmospheres hitting the right knobs on this one with dedicated drum programming evolving into 90s pads, making you feel like the party ain’t over till the bass is gone. And that’s actually true.

This one is a must for every collector of independent, electronic music showing new directions for the scene.

The Third Chimpanzee Remixed sees Martin Gore’s recent five-track release reimagined by remixers including Rrose, JakoJako, Kangding Ray and artists from the Mute family including Chris Liebing and ANNA. Martin Gore, one of the founding members and primary songwriter of Depeche Mode, explores euphoric modular sounds and develops his career’s long relationship with electronic music through the primate-themed EP. The Third Chimpanzee follows his eponymous album MG in 2015 and SSSS, his collaboration with Erasure’s Vince Clarke for their VCMG project. The artwork was created by Pockets Warhol, a capuchin monkey based in Canada who paints for charity.
