Press Info:
The 12th release on Knowledge Imprint sees another addition to its Split EP series. This time Deano invites fast-rising Berlin-based artist Arthur Robert to contribute two tracks in his signature style. As a mainstay on Len Faki’s Figure, Arthur is a truly remarkable producer with a firm vision and a refined ear for functional yet soulful electronic music.

Starting off stripped and minimalistic, Arthur Robert’s ‘Traveller’ delicately develops into a rhythmic powerhouse grounded on a warm, rolling low-end and a sequenced synth pattern. With a repetitive foundation, it’s the percussion and glitchy synth effects that excite the ear with intermittent moments of chaos. This combination gives the track a perfect balance between composure and intensity. ‘Wither’ is characteristically similar with a grooving low-end, cinematic high frequency modulations and IDM-like effects. However, the arrangement here is further simplified making it the perfect loopy tool that is far from being bland or generic.

On the B-Side, Deano slows things down a notch but picks up more on the trippy, spacey textures set by Arthur on the A-Side. ‘Brainwave I’ employs cosmic bleeps tones and classic drum sounds with orchestral synth stabs to create a haunting, cinematic techno arrangement, while ‘Brainwave II’ keeps within the sci-fi theme but packs some extra energy with a galloping bassline, running hi-hats and tight, dance-floor ready rhythms.

Press Info:
After a brief hiatus, Knowledge Imprint is back with it’s eleventh release. With a refreshed visual identity but the same musical vision, the label starts the journey of its next set of releases with label-owner Deano’s Monomaker EP. Joining this release is renowned Dutch artist Tripeo with his remix of the title track.

‘Monomaker’ sets the tone of the A-side with its stripped-back, trippy qualities. Employing subtle shifts in percussion and synth patterns, it’s delicateness is countered by a strong low-end making it the ideal functional track for any part of a set. Tripeo’s remix however flips things around. Whilst some elements from the original are still clearly defined, he opts for a far more spontaneous approach to the arrangement and sound design. With tweaked out synth sequences, pads and upfront drum patterns, his rendition recalls the style of some early Detroit techno without loosing the essence of the original.

The B-side of the EP turns things up a notch. ‘Nullsymbol’ keeps a relentless drive that makes it perfect for the peak time. With strong, rhythmic drums and key moments of tension and release, it preempts the final track of the B-side. ‘Twentysix’ closes out the package with a loopy excursion also grounded in rhythmic drums and trippy synth patterns. As an added bonus to the digital package, ‘Thirdreaction’ combines many of the above-mentioned characteristics in a wild, undulating, synth-focussed composition.

Press Info:

This second Various Artists release on the label once again brings together some talented artists from around the globe. With a focus on strong, timeless sounds, there is a common thread flowing through the productions of the five artists being showcased.

French artist Blenk opens the package with ‘Spell’, a pounding offbeat piece that is guaranteed to stand out in any techno set. With precise sound design, a devastating low-end and uncanny vocal-like stabs, it is both unique and functional. The Blenk sound is carving a path of its own! Following this is William Arist’s ‘Like Everybody Wants Now’. The Uruguayan artist has been in the game for some time, and his production experience is on full display here. Much like the A1, this track is focussed with its sound design, but equally functional for DJ sets. Taking things back to four-to-the-floor, this A2 is an essential for the peak-time dance-floor given its driving energy and heavy beats.

The B-Side opens with ‘Mantis’, a loopy DJ tool by UK producer Yant. It combines hypnotic elements with classic drum rhythms in an arrangement that carefully ebbs and flows – making it suitable both as a standalone piece or layered within a mix. The B2 takes things in a slightly different direction as American artist Ari Atai showcases his Detroit-influenced cut ‘Signal Phase’. With a foundation of analog drums and bleepy synths, the track builds with careful sound manipulations and closes out the release perfectly with its moody feel.

The digital bonus comes by way of India’s Dotdat. ‘Polyslave’ is a full force production that was made with one clear purpose: to do damage on the dancefloor. With minimal elements, it’s some powerful drum programming that carries the arrangement whilst subtle synth parts add a bit of extra spice to the production.

Press Info:
For this second split release on the label, Knowledge Imprint is proud to welcome fast-rising UK talent Rene Wise to showcase his sonic vision alongside label owner Deano. As one of the newest additions to Luke Slater’s Mote Evolver, his production and DJ skills are already highly regarded. With a keen ear for sharp and precise grooves, his tracks make for the perfect pairing with Deano’s b-side offering.

From the first bar, ‘Mover’ locks you into a signature Rene Wise groove. A thumping kick and gently automated percussion build continuously as new layers and textures enter the stereo field. As the tension builds, a hypnotic synth stab begins to creep in whilst the galloping percussion rolls forward – a great tool for any extended transition. Paired with this is ‘Primal Fever’, the angry sibling. Wasting no time, the track lifts off with high energy drum patterns and a loopy synth stab. With elements reminiscent of early 90s tribal techno, this one is a full power assault ready to ignite the listener. Deano’s tracks maintain a similar approach. ‘Rover’ is grounded on a sub-heavy loop over which an FM synth sequence patiently unfolds. With only subtle shifts in percussion and synth automation, this one aims to induce a feeling of hypnotism with a rock-solid groove. On the other hand, ‘Final Meter’ ramps up the BPM opening with a funky kick and bass pattern. As the arrangement progresses, synth sounds begin to open up and percussions become more frenetic ending the release on a high note.

Press Info:
Knowledge is proud to welcome back one of its key artists for another full length EP. Filip Sreckovic aka Rèdacs has contributed to the label from its early days and has since had a string of high quality releases on various labels around the world.

For his Mindscape EP, he presents four analog-driven tracks that combine dance-floor functionality with creative and peculiar sound design. Title track ‘Mindscape’ opens things up with an overdriven synth sequence that repeats hypnotically under frenetic drum-machine rhythms. Thereafter, ‘Night Dunes’ strips things back. With a simple 909 kick, hats and an evolving synth arpeggio, the track morphs through groovy rhythms whilst retaining a dark, haunting character. On the B-side, ‘Counteraction’ ramps up the pace with a thick low-end and rolling drums while the synths adopt a more cerebral character. With multiple builds, breaks and crescendos this one is guaranteed to liven up any dance-floor. Finally, closing out the EP is ‘Infinite Circle’, an off-kilter, synth-focused track that patiently ebbs and flows through muffled drums and strange atmospheres. Tailing off with lush, orchestral pads, this sets the perfect conclusion to the package.
