Deano presents his next full solo release on the label since his inaugural Alternation EP. Going back to the sounds that initially inspired him, he contributes 3 original tracks that combine dance-floor functionality with hypnotic repetition. In addition, this is the first release where he enlists a remixer to give an interpretation of one of the originals.

The A-Side begins with ‘Seek’, a full-steam-ahead track that layers a simple sawtooth sequence over frenetic drums, fast-paced hats and a hard hitting low-end. Next is title-track ‘Thyroid’ which takes things in a similar direction but employs a more complex synth sequence that morphs patiently throughout the arrangement. To get the B-Side going, Echologist (aka Brendon Moeller) provides his remix of ‘Thyroid’. As one of South Africa’s most respected underground music exports, he shows just why he has built such a strong reputation. With a cavernous kick and signature analogue synths, this remix is built for the big-room! Closing out the EP is ‘Fortify’. With bleepy patterns and deeper textures, it employs an off-kilter kick drum with an undulating bassline and classic percussion to provide a respite from the straighter tracks before it.

For this fifth outing on the label, Deano invites some established and upcoming producers to contribute tracks to Knowledge Imprint’s first Various Artists release. Spanning four corners of the globe, the release aims to represent some of the scene’s most exciting young talent.

The A-side contains ‘Golpe de Estado’, a track by top Portuguese producer VIL. With a tight and powerful groove, the track loops through a dubby stab pattern layered with jacking percussive rhythms. Label-head Deano’s track ‘Escape Plan’ follows suit with a rolling kick and bass pattern that lies under a loopy synth sequence that combines elements of groove and hypnotism.

The flip-side contains two tracks that play with structure and break the loopy character of the A-side. Rising Swedish artist Eric Axelsson contributes ‘Duo’, a track that combines moments of broken-beat with straight-up jacking analogue drum patterns. This track is a full percussive workout with hints of an FM-style synth. Closing out the package is ‘Another World’ by Argentinian producer Tomas Kunkel. With a no-mercy approach, this track hits hard from the onset. Known for his hardware live sets, this track perfectly embodied his relentless but groove-laden style. Expect distorted drums, unconventional arrangement and tweaky synth patterns.

As a label focussing on young producers, Knowledge Imprint is proud to present a full EP from one of Italy’s fasted rising talents. Over the past few years, Kaiser has proven his worth with a vast catalogue of releases on an enviable list of labels. His work ethic is second-to-none and his output is frequent but always of high quality. For this release he presents four dancefloor-focussed tracks. The first three are driving yet hypotonic and provide intense moments of tension and release while the closing track ends the EP in sublime fashion with off-beat drums, filtered cinematic chords and a dreamy outro.
