Press Info:
Cristian Vogel reprises his NEL alias for his sixth outing on EPM as he presents ‘NEL and The Instrument of Shapes’, an EP featuring two new tracks from the electronic maverick.

Cristian Vogel is a long-term innovator in the composition, mixing and performance of electronic sounds. Spanning over 30 years in the vanguard of international electronic music, his work has been acknowledged as an outstanding influence in the fields of composition for stage, club culture and studio. His numerous album releases have graced such esteemed labels as Tresor, Mille Plateaux, novamute, Shitkatapult, Sub Rosa and more recently his own Endless Process label.

His studio work as NEL is a departure from his more experimental album and sound design compositions and while these will continue, NEL tracks bear a closer resemblance to Cristian’s earlier production style, delivering tougher beats and rhythmic textures primarily using Modular synths in a hands on, improvised live-to-tape process.

‘The Instrument of Shapes’ sees Cristian bury himself back into the deep grooves of dub techno with wonderful subtlety and sound craft to create a slow burning cavern of sound whilst ‘Stepping Stones’ is a more carefree and loose modular affair that flits across bass and dark electronica with scant regard for a regular beat.

Press Info:
EPM’s co-founder and one half of the Detroit Grand Pubahs, Oliver Way released his debut solo album ‘From the Shadows’ at the end of April. The album is multi-hued; conveying many of the styles that have influenced him over the last 25 years and ‘Stained Glass Shadows’ is its funk-fuelled entry featuring keys by Mitch Marcus, drums by Paul “Feathericci” and bass by Robert Way.

Now three icons take on the remix mantle for this distinctive track and it’s a markedly Detroit-themed cast of Robert Hood, Esteban Adame and DJ 3000.

One of the founding fathers of the Detroit Techno scene and in particular his own brand of Minimal, Robert Hood brings ‘Stained Glass Shadows’ into Techno’s realm with pleasing stomps of the kickdrum, tough stabs and just a hint of the groove we’d normally expect from his Floorplan moniker to maintain a touch of the original’s funk.

Esteban Adame, although hailing from LA (where he runs ICAN with Santiago Salazar), has his own Detroit story having been invited by Mike Banks to Underground Resistance as a keyboardist, performing with Galaxy 2 Galaxy and Los Hermanos, so it’s no surprise that he brings his own level of hi-tech jazz to these remix proceedings.

DJ 3000 lives and breathes Detroit, which is home to him and his firing Motech Records label. Having just presented another top-notch DJ set on the Resident Advisor stage at this year’s Movement festival in Detroit, he now brings his characteristic Motech groove to ‘Stained Glass Shadows’.

Press Info:
Following EPM’s recent vinyl collaboration with Paris’s Yoyaku on Reel By Real’s “Surkit – Remixed and Remastered” and the return (this time solo) of Madben for the “Groove On” EP we continue the French touch as Paris based Kmyle makes his debut release for the label with the “Boreal EP”.

Kmyle is a name synonymous with boundless audible exploration, who has etched a lasting mark in the realm of electronic music. His career seamlessly blends magnetic techno, hypnotic rhythms and ethereal melodies, inviting listeners on a transcendent voyage through time and space.

Kmyle’s musical journey originates from Algiers, surrounded by a rich tapestry of African and Arabic sounds. His creative palette is a fusion of cinematic scores and eclectic inspirations such as Björk, Trentmøller and timeless artists like Pink Floyd. This diverse blend seamlessly integrates classical roots, electronic nuances and the evocative echoes of psychedelic rock, and finds inspiration in science fiction cinema, a genre he deeply admires, adding another layer to his artistic influences.

With revered labels such as Soma, Mord and Skryptöm placing their unwavering trust in his musical prowess, Kmyle’s journey serves as a living testament to his artistry. As a live performance maestro, he effortlessly enthrals audiences with his Möd4rn Live quartet, Laval duo with Electric Rescue and Spatialised 360° adventures.

Kmyle’s journey knows no bounds, launching Kmyle Records in 2020, an exciting new chapter in his career. Guided by luminaries like Luke Slater, Blawan and Laurent Garnier, Kmyle has shaped a formidable career while cultivating lasting friendships. His artistry transcends boundaries, solidifying his place as an enduring luminary in electronic music.

Kick-starting his debit for EPM, “Boreal” builds from a sinister, rolling bassline into a deep and pulsating techno groove, before “Cartilage” trips over its own staccato beat that grows ever more sinister via crunchy claps and ethereal echoes of dubbed out techno. “Darkness Light” takes us into IDM territory where Board of Canada get roughed up on the techno dancefloor, and finally the deep and dark “Metric” takes the EP into a long and menacing hypnotic tunnel.
