Charlie Cunningham’s new album ‘Permanent Way’ is released today via Infectious/BMG.

Cunningham has clocked up in excess of 6 million streams on the back of recent singles ‘Bite’, ‘Sink In’, ‘Don’t Go Far’ and the album’s title track in the last two months.

His unique combination of agile guitar – the result of two-year sojourn in Seville – and distinctive, spectral melodies has, via three EPs and a debut album ‘Lines’ released to widespread acclaim by Dumont Dumont in 2017, seen Cunningham rack up to over 165m Spotify hits to date.

On ‘Permanent Way’, Cunningham laughs in the face of ‘difficult second album’ syndrome and ‘acoustic-singer-songwriter’ imagery with boosted colours and dynamics, while retaining the essence of the man’s achingly personable appeal.

‘Permanent Way’ documents life’s uncertainties: the need for intimacy and love, but also space and independence. “I’m quite a private person outside of performing” Cunningham admits. “There is some autobiographical stuff in the lyrics, but it flits in and out quite a lot; it’s much more about people generally and their interactions”

Duncan Tootill returns to co-produce in part, but the album was predominantly put together alongside producer/engineer Sam Scott.

A trip to LA for a session with producer Rodaidh McDonald (The XX, King Krule), added ‘Bite’ as well as ‘Don’t Go Far’ and another song to the record.

Cunningham has just completed an extensive tour of the US ahead of a sold out headlining show at Queen Elizabeth Hall at London’s Southbank Centre on June 12th.

Along with his band he takes to the road again in October for dates across Europe ahead of a headlining UK tour in November.

VAULT SERIES’ 25th release sees label owner Subjected collaborate with Andrejko to release four haunting cuts entitled ‘Vault Series 25.0’.

Founded by Subjected in 2010, VAULT SERIES’ first 25 releases have seen Subjected give a platform to artists such as Sawlin, Mørbeck and his own music focusing on the raw, industrial side of techno with heavy distortion and experimental edged soundscapes. Over the past ten years VAULT SERIES’ consistent musical output of timeless releases made the Berlin label become a key player of the techno community worldwide. ‘VAULT SERIES 25.0’ sees the label owner Subjected collaborate with Andrejko again following their ‘Format’ EP together on Subjected Systems last year.

‘Pitchfork’ begins proceedings with heavy, distorted kicks scattered around eerie modulations and winding elements before ‘Pain Management’ follows with sinister lead synths, growling resonations and brutal textures throughout.

On the flip, ‘On’ deploys shimmering percussion, hypnotic oscillations and churning murmurs keeping the atmosphere dark yet intriguing. ‘Medication’ then rounds off the EP with pacey, drum progression and fizzing synths fusing with machine-like sound design and energetic grooves.

VII Circle deliver ‘From the Depths’ on Barcelona’s HEX Recordings.

Appearing in 2016, VII Circle’s post-punk and metal inspired techno has arrived on labels like Flyance Records, Illegal Alien Records and their own Rapid Eye Movement. When not performing in Poland, Germany, Spain and Georgia the talented VII Circle are regulars at HEX’s renowned Barcelona-based techno events. Having contributed a remix to the debut release, VII Circle is now back on HEX Recordings, helmed by PØLI and Lorenzo Raganzini, for the label’s second outing with a release inspired by Dante’s Inferno.

‘Conflict’ opens the release with fast paced percussion, sustained atmospherics and frenzied high hats before ‘Arise’ weaves acid dipped synths into metallic clashes and hard hitting stabs. ‘Timeless’ is next, pairing haunting textures with stormy effects, leading into ‘END’ which swiftly builds into a powerful cut complete with growling bass. Tying everything together, Nexe Records founders NX1 remix ‘Conflict’ incorporating warped frequencies and a murky low-end.
