Resurgent rave innovator Force Mass Motion leans into his progressive side on new EP

Seasoned UK favourite Mike Wells helped define the earliest templates for rave, UK hardcore, and jungle before pioneering nu-school breaks sounds and releasing via the legendary Rabbit City, as well as Lot49 and Kingsize Records. Alongside his rave-focused productions, he has always had one foot in the progressive house camp, and it’s these releases that have spurned a new generation of supporters, such as Palms Trax and Job Jobse, who have been championing his music, both old and new. Now Wells is back with a brand-new two-tracker that mines this melodic vein and marks the latest release on his ever-relevant, eponymously titled label.

The latest missive kicks oﬀ with ‘Floorstate’, which fizzles with acid undulations and pressured drums that work towards an ultimate dance floor takeoﬀ. The catalyst is a euphoric vocal and rousing synth progression that breaks out, ensuring emotions will flow in overdrive. ‘You Make Me Move (Superfast)’ is more urgent, with slamming drums and hints of 90s techno synth work all reworked for contemporary dance floors. A warped bassline adds low-end dynamics, and another sensuous female vocal provides a warm emotional counter.

OMEN Recordings presents the debut release from Georgian producer BOYD SCHIDT — a compelling and emotionally charged three-track EP, featuring powerful remixes by label heads AXKAN and DUELLIST.

The EP opens with the title track, “Spiritual Numbness,” where Boyd turns inward to capture the mood of late-night afterhours. Hypnotic rhythms merge with melancholic undertones, grounded by deep basslines and drifting, immersive atmospheres. It’s techno built for moments when time fades and the lights stay low.

“Dance of the Dragons” follows with an energetic yet uplifting vibe, blending soaring synths with a subtle progressive edge. The result is a modern techno ritual—weighty enough for the dancefloor, yet full of luminous, transcendent moments.

On “Zeillos.” featuring Tasime, Boyd explores more spectral territory. A minimalist structure underpins ghostly vocal textures that slither and swell like smoke in the dark. The track stands out for its genre-defying feel and emotional depth.

AXKAN delivers a remix of “Dance of the Dragons” with his signature industrial power—layering tension, kinetic energy, and sharp pulses that echo his work on the Embedded series. The result is intense and explosive.

DUELLIST offers a raw rework of “Spiritual Numbness,” stripping it down and rebuilding it with mechanical precision. The remix is leaner, harsher, and infused with visceral force.

This release journeys through elevation, introspection, and brutalism—unified by refined sound design and diverse emotional landscapes.
