NovaFuture Recordings’ second vinyl sampler “Strange Highs & Strange Lows” is around the corner and will feature tracks by 4 other NovaFuture-affiliates Kontinum, Backyard Aliens, Nendza and Boyd Schidt.

Kontinums “Narkonon” and Backyard Aliens “Ende” were already released through NovaFuture Recordings’ digital series over the past months leading up to the release of “Strange Highs & Strange Lows” and further established NovaFuture and its artists as a reliable source for dancefloor ready Techno and adjacent genres.

Boyd Schidt, half of the Techno duo Greenbeam & Leon and Khidi-resident DJ, makes his NovaFuture Recordings debut with “Artificial Intelligence”. Pummelling drum patterns and loopy acid lines are glued together by the artists impeccable futuristic sound design and sense for melancholic atmospheres, referencing early rave and trance.

Meanwhile, “Odeal” by Nendza sounds decidedly more peak-time. With its massive kickdrums and piercing, otherworldly synths, “Odeal” further develops the artists signature sound, first established with his previous releases on Ressort Imprint and Prodigal Son.

Following NovaFuture Recordings release cycle, “Artificial Intelligence” and “Odeal” will also be made available digitally later this year through NovaFuture Recordings digital series.

Ancient relicts of pre-astronautics or artefact left to humankind, perhaps by mistake, during recent visits – not much is known about the origins of Backyard Aliens’ music. Its sound renders both theories equally feasible. It suggests Backyard Aliens might be the primal, original form of techno music left to humankind millennials ago, and perhaps only rediscovered in the late 20th century. However, it could just as likely be the distilled essence of it, the result of observation, study and experimentation conducted by some non-human entity. Or could it be both? Whoever is behind the cryptic moniker Backyard Aliens might not experience space-time as us humans do.

It is likely that we will never know. But a new sonic artefact recently discovered gives us the chance to gain a wider understanding of what Backyard Aliens really is (or are?). On the 10th February the public will be granted access to said artefact in digital form through the electronic music label NovaFuture Recordings, and at a later date will be able to purchase a physical copy of it as part of NovaFuture Recordings next vinyl compilation. NovaFuture Recordings was found to be a adequate outlet for the audio material that has been titled ‘Ende’ for a simple reason: ‘Ende’ presents the listener with what could be described as a stripped back, classic Techno track, it’s sound hinting at what is generally known as “Acid”. Coincidence or not, it will sound strangely familiar to followers of NovaFuture Recordings and related musical outlets.

NovaFuture Recording kicks off its second cycle of releases with “Narkonon” by Leipzig based DJ and producer Kontinum.

After moving to Leipzig from his hometown Lübeck in 2015, the trained drummer and experienced musician quickly developed a fascination with the impulsive energy and dissociative feel of the music he experienced at Leipzig‘s prime techno club Institut fuer Zukunft. This affinity drove him to start the now renowned NebulaKollektiv in 2017 and consequently establish himself as a local DJ landing gigs at Institut für Zukunft and Distillery.

After releases on Circular Limited, Lowless and Oslated, he now joins the NovaFuture family with the track “Narkonon”. On “Narkonon”, his knack for ambient sounddesign is combined with a steady and hypnotic techno-arrangement, perfect for the either the early or very late hours.

“Narkonon” will be digitally released in December and on the second vinyl sampler later in 2020.

Christian Gerlach made a name for himself as a well-versed Techno producer with releases on labels like Arts and Oktave Records, but has also proven his curatorial skills and great taste with his own label, Lanthan.Audio.

After contributing a DJ mix showcasing material of his label, “Your inherent Beauty” is now part of NovaFuture Recordings first wave of releases. The deep, atmospheric track is moved along by pumping, but understated kicks and percussion elements, providing direction, while metallic synth sounds and choral, thick pads create a dense ambiance and give the track an affective, emotional quality.

After its initial release as part of NovaFuture Recordings first vinyl outing in August, RAVE3000 by Anselm now gets its digital release.

Having made a name for himself as the former resident of the VOID party at Tanzhaus West in Frankfurt am Main before his move to Berlin, he now runs Unequal Records, on which he also released his own work, some of which premiered through the NovaFuture Blog.

On NovaFuture Recodings, the video-editor-turned-music-producer presents a tough and fast techno track, harkening back to the early days of German raves.
