Introduction:
Cristian Vogel is a music technologist and sonic innovator. His independent career in music and audio technology has won prizes and awards establishing him as an outstanding influence in the fields of composition and sonic design. He has lived in Brighton, Barcelona, Berlin and Geneva and is now permanently based in Copenhagen where he continues creating technologically based music, sound and audio technology at his design studios Ekometic and NeverEngineLabs. He founded a number of labels over his career, Mosquito, RiseRobotsRise, Sleep Debt and currently runs Endless Process ( http://www.endless-process.net ) – he has released on legendary labels such as Tresor, SubRosa, Novamute, Shitkatapult and others. Together with Jamie Lidell, he formed the sci-fi funk band Super_Collider.

Introduction:
From the dangerous part of the city of Montevideo, Uruguay in the late ’90s, William started his journey in music at the early age of 11 helping programming music and DJing for a pirate radio station. Since that moment, he never stopped to define his own style and taste of music while improving his technical skills.

In 2009 he started to release his own productions under different monikers, releasing several works in digital and physical format.

In 2017 things changed when the decision was made to focus exclusively on his new project called William Arist and also the launch of his own record label Perseverancia Records.

Since then, he has played with artists such as Anastasia Kristensen, CTRLS, Adriana Lopez, Aleja Sanchez, Dax J, DVS1, Eduardo De La Calle, Ellen Allien, Kolpos, Mekas, Pfirter, P.E.A.R.L., Setaoc Mass, Vinicius Honorio and many more.

His eclectic productions have seen his music land on a variety of labels such as Animal Farm (UK), DEAD CERT. Records (UK), Tauten (SRB), Abstraction (CUB), Liberta (UK), Knowledge Imprint (ZA) amongst others.

His music has been supported by artists like Richie Hawtin, Charlotte de Witte, Joris Voorn, Truncate, Ben Sims, Cari Lekebusch, Tensal, Dave Clarke, Drumcomplex etc etc…

Here is the one hundred and seventh instalment of our series “abc plays xyz”.

The idea behind it is to ask some DJs/mixing artists if they have an artist or label in mind that they love and would like to use for a mix.

So the approach of each mix is clear: the choosen DJ/mixing artist makes a selection of tracks produced by one artist (and her/his monikers. or released on a label (and its sublabels. and creates a nice mix from it.

About Alexskyspirit:
Alexskyspirit borned and raised in Patras/Greece,represents the Greek techno scene.

Light aesthetic underground techno sound, gentle minimal elements combined with hypnotic ambient atmospheres,distorted textures and cinematic pads giving the result of Alexskyspirit’s signature sound nowadays.

He gets inspiration from city traffic,night,winter rainfall, architecture and fear.

He has performed w / Charlotte De Witte, Keith Carnal, Dax J, Harvey McKay, Alberto Ruiz, Jewel Kid, Oxia, Spiros Kaloumenos, George Apergis, Robert Dietz and many more. His tracks have been played by Richie Hawtin, Pan Pot, Fabio Florido and many more.

 

About Illegal Alien Records:
Illegal Alien Records is a Mexican record label of Electronic music focus on Techno, Electronica, Experimental and Ambient. Born in 2007 in Florida, USA, founded by the Mexican Ricardo Garduno. Currently Dig-it, DJ Saint Pierre, Fixeer, Fixon, Mari Mattham and Unkle Fon have joined the project, working alongside with Ricardo in the definition and curating the musical proposal of the label, as well as in its positioning within the worldwide Electronic panorama.

The name ‘Illegal Alien’ was adopted because that was the status granted by the US government to Ricardo Garduno when he lived in the United States. At that time all the immigrants who entered the country illegally were denominated like that. As a result of this, the rights of all illegal immigrants were limited or nulled in many cases. So, awarding this name to the label is a way to remember those immigrants around the world, whose objectives by leaving their countries of origin is to work for a better life and to show that, regardless of the status that other social groups attribute to us, it is possible to reach objectives.

Alexskyspirit About His Choice:
I easily picked illegal Alien Records cause i trully believe that its one of the most open minded techno labels out there. Its also the record label that i have played the most through my sets the last two years.I can find stuff in there from mental hypnotic techno to industrial driving noisy tracks.It would definetely be my choice again & again if it has to do with playing music for an extended dj set. I have never released music there but i think that this one makes my choice even more romantic.
