[NovaFuture Blog Exclusive Mix]: Synergis plays King Dude

DJ:
Synergis

About the concept:
Here is the ninetieth instalment of our series “abc plays xyz”.

The idea behind it is to ask some DJs/mixing artists if they have an artist or label in mind that they love and would like to use for a mix.

So the approach of each mix is clear: the choosen DJ/mixing artist makes a selection of tracks produced by one artist (and her/his monikers) or released on a label (and its sublabels) and creates a nice mix from it.

Find links to all instalments at our overview. Today we present you Synergis’s mix of tracks produced by King Dude.

About Synergis:
Born and raised in the outskirts of Berlin where the former GDR in all it’s shades of grey are still all around Synergis’ sound, as his environment, is marked by a tightrope walk. Fog and clarity, light and shadow, melody and drums, accompanied by noise. While every DJ started going faster and harder Synergis’ Sound just became meaner. Dark, aggressive techno with hard-hitting metallic Drums, screams and noises. Music that pulls the listeners away and within each break a clear melody peels itself out of the fog, to occupy the entire existing space and getting ground to dust by the next bass drum.

In his sets he combines old school gothic tracks from the likes of Apoptygma Berzerk or Covenant with trance-like hymns and meandering EBM. All tracks receive the same attention and Synergis tries to find the right spot for every piece of music to create a rousing flow of energy.

Synergis is a young Berlin-based artist who was early socialized with rock and wave music, such as the Cure or Marylin Manson. He started djing about ten years ago, first focussing on Deep House. By time his sound started shaping and is still moving. He is co-organizer and resident DJ of the RESONANZ party series near Berlin. In addition, he has played several times in Berlin clubs, such as Salon – zur wilden Renate or Anomalie Art Gallery. In January 2019 he started his side project Sieg der Sonne which focusses on happier club sounds such as Italo Disco, New beat and Slow Wave.

About King Dude:
In a time when American folk music has lost touch with its bloody roots, King Dude seeks to illuminate the darkness with sex, death, love, insanity, and Lucifer’s light. Since 2006, his devotional rock ‘n’ roll has been both the medium and the message; his throaty baritone and devilishly visceral songwriting the tools he wields to ignite the fiery spirit of revelation in all who encounter him.

Thanks to past releases on Dais, Avant!, Bathetic, Clan Destine, and Ván records, a number of high-profile festival appearances, and a relentless tour schedule—often alongside the likes of Ghost and Earth—the silver-tongued singer/songwriter has found an ever-expanding global audience with whom to share his prophetic vision of hope and salvation: a willing congregation whose raised voices and stomping feet reliably turn his shows into Luciferian tent revivals.

King Dude is a blue-eyed Mephistopheles with an acoustic guitar; he dresses like Johnny Cash and sings like he cut in line in front of Robert Johnson at the crossroads. His voice can shift from haunting and vulnerable to thunderous near-Biblical fury in the space of a breath, marrying the sacred to the profane with pomp, circumstance, and a curled lip. He sings about death the way he sings about fucking. With inspiration torn from country, blues, Americana, and British folk (and a background in heavy metal), King Dude’s raw, hypnotic hymns channel the past while staring straight ahead into a revelatory future.

Synergis About His Choice:
I first noticed King Dude as he had a feature on Ancient Methods’ debut Album. His characteristic Voice immediately casted a spell over me. As I stared listening his music I slowly rediscovered all the sweet waveish and rockish sounds I’ve been listening to while growing up. So I chose him because his music feels to me like a little reemergence from my childhood.

About Stevyl:
My name Steven, derived from Stevyl for vinyl. I’m 23 years old. Born and raised in Berlin.

Exactly 2 years ago I started with vinyl meanwhile CDj´s. My passion for techno is unique. I was inspired a few years ago when I myself stood on the dance floor and was allowed to feel the sound of the harmonizing basses.

After a short consideration I started to hang up on turntables.

I also founded the label/collective Concrete with a good friend in October 2018. In the near future we will throw raves with hard and dirty sounds. The production of tracks will take place in the next few years. so since curious

About Incident Prism:
French Techno producer based in Paris, Incident Prism started to make music 3 years ago. Aiming for precise productions, he’s always trying to mix different influences to get the most accurate image he would give to modern techno. He doesn’t hesitate to release different types of style with the objective of constantly surprising the scene. From now, he tries not to cling to a particular genre and manages to keep an identity of his own. He performed his unique style in various European capitals such as London, Bruxelles, or Paris.

Incident Prism is also receiving a huge support from artists like I Hate Models, Nina Kraviz, Remco Beekwilder or Thomas P. Heckmann, who are playing his tracks released on great labels like Obscuur Records, Molekül Records, Grounded. and Märked.
