After these short facts please tell us something about the club and its history. What’s the philosophy behind? The idea? Which styles can your visitors celebrate here?
The basic idea of ://about blank was to create an environment where our political ideas and our passion for techno and house inspire and challenge each other. When people celebrate together on the dancefloor it is not just about pure energy or hedonistic ego-trips. The essence of rave culture goes beyond and contains many social aspects, e.g. sharing and caring, letting go and reflecting, hiding and baring, respecting and pushing borders, leaving and crossing identities, bridging roles and attributions. A club night (or day) is always an experimental setup that aims for the best possible and safe conditions so we are trying to provide this setting. A key issue for us is equal payment regardless your position, gender, origin or skill-set, which is obviously a struggle against capitalistic logic. We run the club collectively, because we strive for a society without hierarchies and capitalistic value creation – that is certainly a utopian goal. As a crew with strong ties to the feminist movement, we try to strengthen the visibility and representation of women and non-binary in all areas. Classic male occupied jobs such as bouncers or technicians are challenged by many women. Of course, the same applies to the DJs and artists.

(inside ://about blank pic 2)

Could you give us a short overview about your technical equipment? Is there special?
://about blank loves vinyl, so we are well equipped with everything in need. Since the beginning of the club a good sound was one of our priorities. We’ve run a lot of experiments with different sound systems and different positions of the speakers to fit the venue. As we have limited resources, our philosophy is to buy old and used but approved sound systems and pimp the speakers with the newest, most powerful and state of the art drivers.

One great feature of our sound system is that all our dance floors are connected via a digital mainframe controller. We can decide which music from inside we hear outside during the night or use one of our indoor dance floors as a dark room and send music there from another dj booth. This makes our system very flexible.

Do you run own parties? Do you have some resident DJs?
Our monthly flagship Blank Generation represents our musical philosophy since five years now, featuring techno and house on our main floors and leaving much space for experiments and future sounds. The Elements nights are focussing on techno in a really powerful and absorbing way.

You’ll always find some of our resident DJs there, celebrating their definition of ://about blank with the crowd on the dancefloor. At the moment there are ten residents, most if them spinning records for many years. They are all well-featured at http://aboutblank.li/booking, but the best way to get to know them surely is to listen and get involved. Some oft them have also joined our own label and are part of our About Blank Labelnights, which are featuring the label artists and new releases. Each Christmas we are hosting a solidarity party to support refugees, antifa actions and free movement.

Besides own parties: are the regular parties by other promoters? Please tell us some details.
There are a lot regular parties, and some of them are shaping constantly the profile of the club. The monthly queer party Buttons, during the summer from Friday night to Sunday evening, is a massive cornerstone and brings in every time a very special atmosphere and open-minded crowd. With the Saturday techno of Staub a new era of celebrating during the day was born. Oscillate’s quarterly installements are always a visionary trip to new musical shores. And there are many benefit raves from several crews during the year, headed by Love Techno Hate Germany. But it is simply to much to name all of the amazing crews, that share their creativity and passion within ://about blank.

And are there specials? Special performances? Something different?
There is always something new or special – may it be the renewed garden tent or the newborn forest floor, or powerful new formats like the Warning raves or last winter’s Sunday wonderland called LnX. During the summer the Nomadenkino visits ://about blank every Tuesday for open air cinema. Sometimes our garden floor turns into a punkrock stage, sometimes there are concerts at our MDF, and once a year we fill the garden with hundreds of kids for the special ://about kinderdisco. And if you need a cold shower, you’ll find some in the garden. And maybe it is interesting what you will find not: any kind of commercial sponsorship or corporate events as we don’t support bullshit.

Please name a few artists who already played here.
Nine years of ://about blank should not be reduced to some names of the many hundreds that have played here. But we try to host every artist equally so she or he will have a nice time here.

Coming to an end of this short feature. What are your future plans? Any nice DJs playing here soon? Anything else you wanna say?
Summer is already coming and we are looking forward to packed weekends and many carefully curated parties during the week. Our discours format The Amplified Kitchen will also return for another season, keep you eyes open for further announcements. At the end of September there will be a special summer closing curated by ://about blank. Surely we will stay rebel against rightwing politics and try to push things further to defeat capitalism once and for all. And we will celebrate our tenth anniversary next April, if nothing unexpected happens.

After these short facts please tell us something about the club and its history. What’s the philosophy behind? The idea? Which styles can your visitors celebrate here?

The name Club 27 recalls the ‘‘Club of 27‘‘ and commemorates the deceased artists like Amy Whinehouse, Kurt Cobain and many more.
Those are also represented on the walls of the club.

Club 27 offers Techno & Indsutrial as well as EBM, Wave & Synth Pop.

The club has an LED ceiling, beamer and wall-mounted lights that create a party atmosphere.
There is also a sonic smoker lounge with a bar – space for more than 200 people who als put value on a conversation in a quieter environment.

A well organized team welcomes our guests week after week and tries to fulfill every wish.

In 1987, the discotheque Cinderella was opened.

Again and again the program was adapted to the general public taste. In additon to miss elections in the early nineties, there were also several successful techno-events.

Another highlight was the performance of techno princess DJ Marusha. In the mid-90’s, a very elaborate and expensive cultivation, the so-called Orangerie was realized by the then owners, but in 1999 it came to an end. Various discotheques followed as Cantaloop or Milleniumdas but had to close again after two weeks. The Turkish local club Mozaik (from 2003) with live music and turkish family celebrations had been “quite successful”, says the landlord of the building. But even this tenant decided in 2008 “to relocate his business interests” – which resulted in the beginng of Club 27 in 2009.

Could you give us a short overview about your technical equipment? Is there special?
As already mentioned, one of the highlights in our club is the LED light ceiling and LED wall behind the artist. We also have a beamer for the matching visuals and light runs along the wall.

For all floors we have a d&b soundsystem which is very clear and powerful – set to celebrate the intense nights with our audience.

(inside Club 27 pic 3)

Do you run own parties? Do you have some resident DJs?
Most of the events in the club are our own events.

Well known is probably the “33H Rave” that takes place twice a year with us.

Through innumerable events, we put our stamp on the city and, above all, southern Germany as we are trying to give people a place to unfold and celebrate with ease.

Racism, sexism and homophobia lead to immediate party exclusion in the club.

Besides own parties: are the regular parties by other promoters? Please tell us some details.
I would not say that we have regular parties from other organizers here.

Because our own program, our own vision and our series of events would be simply too much involved in their concept.

With Codec 992 we had 3 label nights here, and we were also invited to a resident night at the beginning of the year.

Likewise the Lehmann Club from Stuttgart hold events several times with us.

Coming to an end of this short feature. What are your future plans? Any nice DJs playing here soon? Anything else you wanna say?
With our new booker, we are working to bring even more quality to Tuebingen and bring our vision closer to our audience.

A well thought-out concept and a fresh breeze with strong headliners, as well as a good mix of local artists.

We want to offer what many would only experience through wide travels.

After these short facts please tell us something about the club and its history. What’s the philosophy behind? The idea? Which styles can your visitors celebrate here?
In 1998 we found the location in order to run a very modern aggressive independent theatre production there. I was always influenced by electronic music and producing events and raves, producing scores for performances, before and even parallel to my acting career, so was our theatrical piece. As there wasn’t any creative director we decided to create an idea of combining high level, experimental or „underground“ electronic parties, Jazz, art and independant theatre at one place. One reason was that cultural support was starting to increase in that times and independent cutural places had to work financially on their own. But most of all it was our item to reach new young audience for modern theatre and on the way convincing cultural audience to explore modern electronic music and club culture. And it worked ! In the last years we were developing more the concert sector, cause modern indie and alternative music and even modern jazz is a lot inspired by the story of electronic sounds. So you can find Techno in several and often very different forms, from dark/experimental to melodic, deep or ravy, but always curated with high claims and a lot of motivation. Our speciality here was always to combine them on one event, which gives the guests a wider range of sound and atmospheres while raving, and it opens mind and bodies. On the other hand you can explore very modern bands, a lot of new talents, festivals with students of the jazz faculty, as well as internationally known acts between Neo-Folk, New Pop, Indie/Alternative, Industrial, Postpunk and Experimental.

inside Artheater pic 2
(inside Artheater pic 2)

Could you give us a short overview about your technical equipment? Is there special?
So we’re well equiped for party and concert there are a lot of options due to the lights and video, which gives us the possibility to create very different light sceneries and set-ups. It can easily getting ravy or dark. Or we can run the concerts very intimate or even seeming „big stage“ with high contrasts. The Basement is a very classic „Techno-Concrete-Bunker“ … and it’s what we’re known for since ages … The audio set-ups on both floors are very different, we have a FunktionOne-System on the Mainfloor which allows different acoustic soundqualities due to our program, and it’s very clear and pumping for Techno. But that’s working just because of our great team of technicians, what’s in general our basic concept in any departments of the club : Teamwork!

In the basement we have a huge AD24 -System with a lot of Tops and Subs to create a more organic rough sounds which is very loved by a lot of pure Techno artists coming to our club, and of course also loved by the dancers.

inside Artheater pic 3
(inside Artheater pic 3)

Do you run own parties? Do you have some resident DJs?
We run own parties an we have promoters doing there own party series in Artheater. That’s what makes us building such a diversitive program and developing the club further over so many years. But we

This is how we create also our specials, bringing together ideas, contrasts, love for music from different points of view to present highly motivated events. Thus like Sector, BergWacht, Tag X, Modern Musement and many more. And it’s also the base for our residents. They are actually creating the vibe of a party or a club. They are there when the first guests are coming in to welcome them, they are there when the last dancers are leaving to lead them out of the night. They are building bridges ore introducing the main artists soundwise, solving problems caused by the dramaturgy of others. And alsothey are always the connectors to and between the scenes and possees. Especially nowadays, where the fees are often killing the finances of smaller clubs, it’s obvious that you can book any wellknown techno artist if you can pay him, but without your team it’ll never become an euphoric event or rave … like we all wish to be.

After these short facts please tell us something about the club and its history. What’s the philosophy behind? The idea? Which styles can your visitors celebrate here?
Music connects people: At Geheimclub it does not matter who you are, where you come from, who or how you love, who or what you believe and what you do outside of the club. Music brings people of different characters to a common denominator and connects them to one big family. It applies the principle: Anyone who does not look for stress and provocation, respects and tolerates his counterpart, is neither sexist, homophobic, stigmatized, violent or otherwise decent, comes in. Simple as that.

We are playing strictly techno and house!

Short introduction of the residents
Nicolas Lendkrais‘s musical roots are way back in the 90’s, first in love with trance. “One day, there will be a club, where I will be resident with full heart” – luckily it became the Geheimclub. His sets are sometimes driving, sometimes spherical with some surprises in form of some nice, old not – techno tracks. Facebook | Soundcloud

Magnus‘s first tries as a Dj were in 2014 for some private parties, since 2017 he is resident Dj at Geheimclub, playing dark and industrial techno with some EBM touch sometimes. First he started working as a lightjockey in a big room disco. Facebook | Soundcloud

DXTN is Dj since 1996 and learned the basics at a Dj learn group. He started producing in 1999 and stopped it then, but plays some of his tracks back from these days. He is the CEO of the club and is known for his insane mixing skills, even with 4 vinyl players. He started with Gabber and Schranz in his early days. Facebook | Soundcloud

Dynamic Perceptions was born in the Harz in Germany. In the beginning of his DJ career he played artists like Faithless or Benny Benassi but since 2002 he’s developed an interest in electronic music and started visiting underground raves and festivals. It was 2007 when he began spinning vinyl on his own and the first party followed soon. With the wish to develop further he moved to Magdeburg to a little crew where he learned to organize parties and experienced a lot of new electronic music. His love for music was growing steadily and in 2016 he joined Geheimclub Magdeburg as a Techno and as a house Dj. Sometimes his music is slamming, sometimes more playful, but always worth a journey. Facebook | Soundcloud

Pernox is new to the business and started together with r:brockwell in 2017. Since then he became Resident of the club really fast. He is playing fast and hard, sometimes, especially for openings, more dub and atmospheric stuff. He is the booking agent of the club, together with r:brockwell Facebook | Soundcloud

Deguchi, formerly known as r:brockwell, found his love for fast driving techno becoming more and more influenced by Dax J. He is also into EBM and more spherical sides of techno and likes to play a lot of styles in his sets. Hearing techno since he was 15 years old, he started 9 years later his career in 2017 and became resident at the club together with Pernox. He is also doing the booking for the Club. Facebook | Soundcloud

Jan Goertz is Dj since 2013, and started producing 2014. Since 2017 he is resident at Geheimclub Magdeburg. His style is influenced by people like DVS1 or Nihad Tule. He started with some little parties, thrown by some friends and himself in Magdeburg. Facebook | Soundcloud

sa.mu is a Dj since 2014 and became resident of the club in 2017. His style combines different genres like Deeptech, tech-house, dub-techno and house. He started as a KaB resident and organized underground raves with the Ennea crew. Since 2016 he is part of the Deep Dive group. Facebook | Soundcloud

Niklas Albrecht is a young house Dj at Geheimclub and started his fresh career at 2017. Since then he became an important part of the house section of the club. Facebook | Soundcloud
