Press Info:
Air Texture proudly announces its latest artist-curated compilation, “Hardwired,” assembled by Berlin-based musician JakoJako. This expansive collection celebrates the implicit connection between hardware-focused electronic producers, featuring contributions from Rødhåd, Acid Pauli, The Field, Neon Chambers, and many more.

“Hardwired” draws its conceptual foundation from synthesizer terminology. As JakoJako explains: “A hardwired synth has connections already soldered into the machine—it comes with certain functions without needing to patch cables externally. As a hardware producer, I feel whenever I meet someone who creates music as I do, we have this immediate connection, like a hardwired synthesizer. There’s no need for small talk—we can speak about gear.”

This metaphor of pre-established connections forms the emotional core of the compilation, celebrating the community of hardware enthusiasts who share an intuitive understanding and appreciation for machine-based music creation.

JakoJako has established herself as one of electronic music’s most intriguing voices, exploring the territory between technical precision and emotional expression. Her artistic approach balances rigorous knowledge with unrestrained intuition, creating works that reach beyond genre boundaries.

A Berghain resident with performances at Dekmantel and Fusion, to the Royal Albert Hall and the Barbican, JakoJako has released music on prestigious labels including Tresor, Mute, and Leisure System, and crafted remixes for artists like New Order and Martin Gore. Her deep relationship with analog and modular synthesis, including her ongoing connection to Berlin’s SchneidersLaden, informs her distinctive sound.

Following her recent Mute album “Têt 41,” this curation for Air Texture provides further insight into the musical universe that has shaped JakoJako’s artistic vision.

“Hardwired” showcases 23 tracks for its digital release, with a select 9 tracks pressed to vinyl. The collection spans the spectrum of contemporary electronic music while maintaining cohesive focus on hardware-driven production approaches.

Highlights include collaborative works between JakoJako and fellow producers Mareena and Frank Wiedemann, alongside contributions from established artists like Rødhåd, Acid Pauli, and The Field, plus emerging talents representing the hardware renaissance in electronic music.

Founded by James Parker Healy, Air Texture emerged from New York City’s late ’90s rave scene, carrying forward the fundamental PLUR (Peace, Love, Unity, Respect) ethos with a collaborative and curatorial focus. The label has evolved from its roots in Manhattan’s club era and Brooklyn’s warehouse scene to embrace a global perspective, working with producers across diverse styles and regions worldwide.

Press Info:
Berlin-based producer Pascal Hetzel’s 2022 album ASLM gets a fresh reimagining with the ASLM Remixes LP. Featuring reworks by a handpicked selection artists, this remix collection breathes new life into the original tracks, offering a diverse range of sounds that stay true to the album’s dystopian and futuristic essence.

The remix LP opens with JakoJako’s take on RBBRMN, transforming the track into a broken-beat cut with pitched-down electronics. It’s an ideal opener, setting a futuristic and moody tone that draws you in. Next, GAEL reworks TWST into a bass-heavy, hypnotic cut. With underwater-y atmospheres, ethereal textures, and a stomping kick drum, the track builds into an emotional sequence that feels both haunting and cathartic.

Kaiser steps up with a deep and groovy remix of SLT, delivering a driving force from start to finish. Liquid synths, frantic pads, and bell-like percussion create a sense of momentum that pulls you into oblivion. Projekt Gestalten takes SLT in his own direction, injecting acid textures and frantic atmospheres into the mix. This version is raw, dirty, and guaranteed to ignite chaos on late-night sets.

Closing the LP, Luis Flores reimagines PPPR as a noisy, power-driven cut. Balancing emotion with relentless energy, Flores adds his signature touch of controlled madness, making it a standout.

The ASLM Remixes LP not only pays homage to Pascal Hetzel’s original vision but also showcases the versatility of his work through the unique perspectives of each remixer.

Set to release on April 4th, 2025, via Arkham Audio.

Press Info:
Berlin-based modular synthesist JakoJako (aka Sibel Koçer) has announced details of a new album, her first for Mute. Tết 41 is set for release on limited edition vinyl and digitally on 25 April 2025.

The album, recorded in Vietnam during the Tết Lunar New Year celebrations is, in many ways, a distillation of ideas Koçer has been exploring for many years. Tapping into a deep understanding of machine-based music and illuminated by references to her heritage, Tết 41 reflects on notions of rebirth, and the pursuit of a sonic core. The album was created with a minimal hardware set up, and from this simplicity emerges some of her most expansive, unworldly compositions to date.

Koçer explains, “I wanted to collect the atmospheres of Vietnam, and strip it back to my language – electronic music. I don’t have huge ties to the traditions of my Vietnamese family, so being able to experience them with my mother, and then bring the Lunar Celebration – the colourful flowers, food and customs – back to Europe through music has helped me realise how important this side of my heritage is.”

Tết 41 launches today, on Lunar New Year, with the first track from the album, ‘Lì xì’ (Vietnamese translation: “Lucky money”, usually referring the red envelopes gifted at Lunar New Year).

A big part of her production process lies in searching for spontaneity, which was heightened during the creation of this album – on just a Eurorack and a Waldorf Iridium Core. Whilst normally she would have a computer to mix and arrange the record, the effects and sequencers of the gear became her tools. She expands; “The more you play with a single machine the more you get to know it. You’ll get muscle memory and play it more like an actual instrument, instead of treating it as a tool.”

Opening and closing with field recordings taken during the Lunar New Year celebrations, she uses the space in between to cast new frameworks, allowing melodic cycles to flow autonomously. Rhythmic fragments weave between analogue processing and harmonic distillations, swirling in organic cycles of warehouse maximalism and sonic minutiae that speak to the somatic and spectral in equal measure.

Engaged in a constant dialogue around the use of hardware in music, JakoJako’s artistic output is informed by the tension and release of techno, but ultimately propelled by ever-expanding forms and structures that play with the contours of the genre. A producer, live artist and DJ who has held a residency at Berghain whilst touring some of the world’s most respected electronic music institutions, she delves into the mathematical patterns of arpeggios and loops, locating kinetic energies that convert into moments of dancefloor catharsis.

Infinitely curious about the threads that connect different genres, as opposed to the rigidity of genre itself, Tết 41 is driven by a desire to document the potentials of analogue and modular synthesis, and to consider new contexts within which these could exist. It’s also a bold and generous vision of new sonic worlds.

Press Info:
Berlin based modular synthesist and DJ JakoJako, aka Sibel Koçer, has shared the first track from her new four-track Segmente EP for NovaMute, set for release on 26 July 2024.

Listen to the exhilarating new track, ‘Modus’, accompanied by Reza Hasni’s abstract psychedelic artwork below.

Koçer’s passion for electronics began with an urge to play with sound, and a desire to learn more about the world of modular systems and patch cables. Her meticulous studies soon progressed into performing regular live sets in Berlin, a Berghain Residency and a position at Berlin electronic music institution, SchneidersLaden.

In recent years, her success as a performer has grown steadily, and she has also been involved in several motion sensor dance projects with dancers at Superbooth and Kraftwerk Berlin, has performed at the Royal Albert Hall with Bonobo, and at the Barbican in London with an improvised ‘Circle Of Live’ performance that featured dance and a specially commissioned art installation.

JakoJako’s unmissable live performance has fed directly into the new EP – all four tracks originated in her live show – giving the EP a propulsive urgency imbued with her distinct take, described by RA as “fragile techno written in the key of wonder”.

The new EP follows the Verve EP, her debut for Mute, a full length album, Metamorphos (2022, Bigamo) and her collaboration with Rødhåd, In Vere (2022, WSNWG), both of which came hot on the heels of two blistering remixes for Mute – New Order’s Be A Rebel and Martin Gore’s Vervet.

Press Info:
Edition Dur is a series of limited vinyl releases realised by Sven Hasenjäger and Daniel Meteo in cooperation with Kulturkaufhaus Dussmann in Berlin and is only available at Dussmann store and Dussmann online. The series combines popular and serious music, classic, jazz and electronic, avantgarde, experimental and electronic art of sound.

The introspection of two souls is felt in this masterpiece: „Atlas der Gedanken“.

JakoJako and Mareena are siblings in spirit, striving towards common goals: rooted in similar traditions, juxtaposed to create suspenseful tensions. You can find peace and serenity in their music; but it also takes you to higher places: weightless. „Mut zur Wahrheit“, is the main song, with whispering voices, while around them the whole world seems stunned.

Mareena started her career in the ‚00s as a techno DJ, her sets are highly energetic, carried by a love for funk and groove. You can hear the origins of techno in her music; emerging from Detroit and deeply rooted in African-American culture. Since 2012 she has been a resident DJ at Tresor, the club that brought Detroit techno to Berlin and Germany. When Mareena DJs ambient, it‘s not in techno clubs, but in churches, in front of an audience that sits or lies down and meditates. Unrush is the name of the label on which she releases her music as well as other artists.

JakoJako also works primarily as a DJ in clubs. Her sets echo the hard, dark techno of the younger Berlin school as well as the spherical synthesizer. She creates her music with modular synthesizers, analog devices producing in endlessly possibilities – from music, from nature, and from other sources.

For „Atlas der Gedanken“ JakoJako also worked exclusively with modular synthesizers, while Mareena made music with digital production software. With their music you enter a space where you immediately feel at home, simultaneously you never forget that you remain a mystery to yourself: unhoused.
