[News]: Martin Gore releases solo album under MG on Mute

Martin Gore – solo album?

News Text:
A few days ago Depeche Mode member Martin L. Gore posted a strange info (or better no info) on Facebook yesterday. There was only the picture below and the tag “#MGxMG” …

Having the name VCMG in mind (VCMG = Vince Clarke + Martin Gore) the fans assumed very fast that there will be an annnouncement of a solo album soon.

A second posting by Martin Gore showed another picture (see below). You can read some interesting things on these plates: “For Big Life Management” (Dave Bascombe’s Management, “Mastered by Stefan Bethke” (well-known as musician Pole), “Art direction and design by Martin Gore”.

And now we got the final news… Martin Gore will release a solo album under his acronym MG on Mute with catalogue number STUMM381. The album will also be called “MG” and contains 16 instrumentals. It will be out on 27th April.

Having it in his thoughts for some time, particularly since he has been writing instrumentals for Depeche Mode since 1981, he wanted to keep “the music very electronic, very filmic and give it an almost sci-fi like quality. Music is a necessity for me. I go into the studio at least 5 days a week, every week, so once I had the idea and the template, the process was quick and fun.”

So it is a soundtrack to an emotional and mysterious film of your own design.

To get an idea how the album will sound like, Mute just uploaded the first track “Europa Hymn” for your pleasure.

They also announced the full track listing of the upcoming album: “Pinking” , “Swanning”, “Exalt”, “Elk” , “Brink”, “Europa Hymn”, “Creeper”, “Spiral”, “Stealth”, “Hum”, “Islet”, “Crowly”, “Trysting”, “Southerly”, “Featherlight” and “Blade”.

Please check here for all details about the album.
