Diamond Version release EP3 on 12” and download on 28 January 2013. Featuring the tracks Turn On Tomorrow, Sense Of Urgency and Turn On Tomorrow (Version), this the latest in a sequence of five 12? / download EPs released throughout 2012 and 2013.

An album featuring a selection of the EP tracks, alongside unreleased tracks and new versions with guest vocalists will be released in Summer 2013.

Diamond Version is the collaborative project between two of the most groundbreaking, experimental and visionary creators in modern music, Byetone and Alva Noto.

“Diamond Version is a project born out of a live situation. We occasionally performed encores together after our solo sets. These spontaneous and improvised tracks always had a kind of “special energy” which we missed in our solo works.” Diamond Version’s audio-visual live performance debuted at Sonar 2012 with special guest Atsuhiro Ito (reviewed here by The Quietus: http://bit.ly/Mtu9iN).

The band have announced several dates for 2013 including the prestigious festivals Berlin CTM / Transmediale and Sonar Reykjavik, with more to be announced shortly.

Mute, die Mutter der elektronischen Musiklabels, kehrt mit seinem aktuellen Signing, Diamond Version zu seinen musikalischen Wurzeln zurück: Purer Elektronik. Diamond Version ist der Projektname für das jüngste musikalische Betätigungsfeld zweier Innovatoren der elektronischen Musik, Byetone und Alva Noto.

Als führende Köpfe des Chemnitzer Labels Raster-Noton, und mit ihren Solo-Projekten Alva Noto und Byetone, sind sie Veteranen im Grenzgebiet von intuitiver und konzeptueller Kunst, zwischen Galerie und Dancefloor. Raster-Noton und Mute hatten zuletzt im Rahmen des von Mute kuratierten Mute Short Circuit Festivals 2010 in London eng zusammen gearbeitet.

Diamond Version produzierten im Laufe des Jahres 2012 zwanzig Tracks die nach und nach auf Mute veröffentlicht werden. Zunächst erscheinen fünf 12-Inch EPs bevor im Frühsommer 2013 ein Album erscheint. Eröffnet wurde die EP-Serie mit den Titeln „Technology At The Speed Of Life“ und „Empowering Change” im Herbst 2012. Eine dritte EP erscheint am 25. Januar 2013, EP4 am 22. März, die fünfte EP schließlich im Mai.

Die Ästhetik von Diamond Version ist aufgeladen mit surrealem und subversivem Humor in der Werbe-Slogans bis zur Sinnlosigkeit repetiert und Marken-Logos verfremdet zitiert werden.

Derzeit arbeiten Diamon Version an einem audio-visuellem Konzept für ihre live-Auftritte auf den wichtigsten Festivals für elektronsiche Musik 2013 wie dem Sonar (Reykjavik und Barcelona), Transmediale, Melt!, Taico Club etc. um das Projekt auch live vorzustellen.

“Diamond Version ist aus der Live-Situation heraus geboren. Wir spielten bei passenden Gelegenheiten zusammen Zugaben nach unseren Solo-Sets. Diese spontanen und improvisierten Tracks hatten immer eine ganz spezielle Energie, die wir in unseren Solo Projekten vermisst hatten”, erklären Alva Noto und Beytone. “Mit Diamond Version versuchen wir, diese Energie einzufangen und sie dabei gleichzeitig mit unseren konzeptuellen Ideen zu kombinieren. Zum Beispiel sind wir jeden Tag mit der Daily Short Message Information Culture (DSMIC) konfrontiert. Die spezielle Ästhetik, die in diesem System herrscht, wurde ein starkes Thema für uns und eine Art Blaupause für die visuelle Umsetzung des Diamond Version Projekts.”
