Major Records are proud to announce the first-ever official DVD release by Nitzer Ebb.
NE+HH, LIVE AT THE MARKTHALLE contains the full December 29th, 2011 show at the iconic Hamburg venue, plus four additional tracks from the Blackfield Festival and an interview with the band.
This show marked the end of an extensive tour consisting of hundreds of gigs starting in North America in December 2009, and then leading them through a decidedly wintery European leg and as the opener for the final leg of Depeche Mode’s Tour Of The Universe. They then returned for a 2nd North America tour and on to Mexico and South America before joining forces with Die Krupps for a co-headline European tour and summer festivals.

Elson David is the joint venture of London’s Duct and Owen Howells, two of Shades of Grey Recordings’ co-founders. Their first EP, a three-tracker of techy, acid-laced house with tongue-in-cheek nods to UK raving past and present is released on 21st January 2013.
The collaboration was born of their shared love of acid house and rave culture, and the desire to do something a bit different to their solo work. Both bring considerable talents to bear; Duct’s classical training and detailed craftsmanship, and Owen’s idiosyncratic grooves and dancefloor focus combine in unexpected ways to produce something that sounds like neither and both.
This makes for a storming 8th release on Shades: opener ‘God Bless’ sets out their stall in no uncertain terms, with wiggly 303s and deft samplework building into a surefooted hybrid bubbler which owes as much to UKG as its acid house forebears. Yet follower ‘The Awakening’ will be the highlight for many: with an irresistable disco-inflected groove built from chunky beats, vocal refrains and acidified riffs on the classic ‘Rapper’s Delight’ bassline, it’s sure to blow up dancefloors everywhere. On the flip, ‘Woke’ is one for the heads; a full-on acid workout that takes no prisoners for the duration.
Awakening forms the eighth release on Shades of Grey; an imprint set up by Duct , Fybe:one and Owen Howells, and dedicated to showcasing the best emerging talent in the UK scene.

Mute and Spoon are delighted to announce Cyclopean, the collaboration from Burnt Friedman, Jono Podmore and Can founding members Jaki Liebezeit, and Irmin Schmidt.
The four track EP will be released on 4 Feb 2013 on 12″ and download.
Can’s legacy has never felt more apparent than now, and Cyclopean brings together two giants from this legendary band, Jaki Liebezeit and Irmin Schmidt alongside long time collaborators Jono Podmore (Kumo / Metamono) and musician and producer Burnt Friedman.
As you might expect from the line-up, the four tracks are profoundly original and bursting with imagination. The title provides a metaphor for the music: Cyclopean forms are beautiful, massive and intriguing structures that interlock, intersect and connect seemingly contradictory components. Heavy, yet light, powerful, subtle, intriguing and playful. There’s also a flavour of the ancient in this music – an artefact from a sophisticated pre-culture perhaps. Extraordinary instrumentation – rubber band guitar, theremin, prepared piano – is unified through the monumental and unique drum patterns, as the characters of the four players are at once individually unmistakably and irrevocably intertwined.
The release of the Can album The Lost Tapes this year has brought a wealth of new recognition and plaudits to the legendary band, and as befits members of a band who constantly challenge, innovate and inspire, an entirely new project was born when Friedman, Liebezeit, Podmore and Schmidt got together at Studio Les Rossignols, France, in May 2011.
The four members of Cyclopean have worked together previously: Friedman and Liebezeit’s Secret Rhythms IV was released in 2011 on Friedman´s label Nonplace and is the most recent of their releases together which began in 2002; Podmore and Schmidt’s collaborations have included two albums released as Schmidt & Kumo as well as more recent work on The Lost Tapes and Podmore has also worked with Liebezeit in the past.
After Can disbanded Liebezeit and Schmidt stayed close and continued to work together, notably on Schmidt’s opera Gormenghast, which Podmore also worked closely on.
Cyclopean is the first time that Friedman, Liebezeit, Podmore and Schmidt have worked together.

Info:
David started “Son of a Beach” one year ago as some kind of diary. It’s not about a certain style and doesn’t have any purpose but living up the joy of independent music publishing. Every piece of music that Mr. Pasternack releases on it is a self portrait made in a particular moment. They are coded memories of him. Very personal and intimate. That’s also the reason why he asked only friends and people that inspire me to remix these tracks. André is one of them. David always had the feeling they share some major aspects of their own visions of creating and living the music. André’s version of the title track is really special to David.
