The premiere of the MASSE project will take place on 4th May 2013 in the “Halle am Berghain”. MASSE is a co-production by the Staatsballett Berlin and the Berghain. The evening consists of three parts: it will feature three different choreographies created by Nadja Saidakova, Xenia Wiest, and Tim Plegge, and performed by thirty dancers from the Staatsballett Berlin. The choreographies are based on three pieces of electronic music especially composed for the evening by the producers Henrik Schwarz, Marcel Dettmann & Frank Wiedemann and DIN (Efdemin & Marcel Fengler). The choreographies engage in different ways with the topic of ‘Masse’, or mass, examining it as both a physical and a social phenomenon.
The stage design has been provided by the renowned contemporary artist Norbert Bisky, who is fascinated by the project. He has created a performance space which acts as a framework for the evening. In his own words, his design is “an artistic engagement with the atmosphere of catastrophe over the past few years as well as with the burgeoning scepticism towards unchecked growth”. The “Halle am Berghain” – whose fundamental element is the industrial appearance of the hall itself, which is underscored through the careful use of lighting – will provide the setting for eleven performances of MASSE.

Mit der Uraufführung der neuen Produktion MASSE bespielt das Staatsballett Berlin ab dem 4. Mai 2013 die “Halle am Berghain“. In dem Kooperationsprojekt zwischen dem Staatsballett Berlin und dem Club Berghain entwickeln die Choreographen Nadja Saidakova, Xenia Wiest und Tim Plegge zeitgenössische Choreographien zu der Musik von international bekannten und dem Berghain nahestehenden Musikproduzenten. Mit Norbert Bisky konnte einer der wichtigsten zeitgenössischen deutschen Maler für die Gestaltung des Bühnenbildes gewonnnen werden.
Am 4. Mai 2013 findet die Premiere des Projektes MASSE in der “Halle am Berghain” statt. MASSE wird von dem Staatsballett Berlin und dem Club Berghain koproduziert. Für den dreiteiligen Abend haben die Choreographen Nadja Saidakova, Xenia Wiest und Tim Plegge drei unterschiedliche Choreographien mit dreißig Tänzern des Staatsballetts Berlin erarbeitet. Grundlage für die Choreographien sind die eigens für den Abend komponierten Stücke elektronischer Musik der Produzenten Henrik Schwarz, Marcel Dettmann & Frank Wiedemann und Efdemin (Phillip Sollmann) & Marcel Fengler. Die Choreographien setzen sich auf unterschiedliche Weise mit dem Thema ‚Masse‘ auseinander. Dabei nähern sie sich ihm sowohl als physikalischem als auch als sozialem Phänomen an.
Für das Bühnenbild konnte der bekannte zeitgenössische Maler Norbert Bisky begeistert werden, einen Bühnenraum als Klammer für den Abend zu kreieren.
Die “Halle am Berghain” ist ein ehemaliges Heizkraftwerk, das 1954/1955 im Rahmen des Nationalen Aufbauprogramms der DDR im Zusammenhang mit dem Ensemble der Karl-Marx-Allee errichtet wurde. Das Gebäude war nur wenige Jahre als Kraftwerk in Betrieb und wurde in den 60er Jahren vom Netz genommen. Seit Anfang der 90er Jahre steht das Gebäude leer und befand sich in einem verwahrlosten bis teilweise baufälligen Zustand. Das Berghain nimmt sich mit dieser Kooperation ebenso der Verantwortung gegenüber dem Denkmalschutz an, indem das Gebäude durch notwendige Baumaßnahmen vor dem Verfall geschützt wird und als wesentliches Industriedenkmal der DDR erhalten bleibt. Die Öffentlichkeit wird es vorerst nur im Mai 2013 im Rahmen des Balletts MASSE besichtigen können.

The second record of our label comes along as another compilation of tracks delivered by our fellow resident djs and friends.
Our mate and well established producer FRANK MARTINIQ delivers “The Renegade Circus”, a smooth dub bomb that will work on the floors at any time of the night, with its smooth chords and gentle beat programming it will make people dance whether you open the night with it or play it peaktime to a screaming crowd.
FRANKLIN DE COSTA’s “Birdy” stands in clear contrast to this. With its particularly raw sound design and its weird birdy melody this track sounds like the favourite song of a dusty machine taken from some still unwritten child book.
MIKE VAMP’s “Licence to Thrill” rounds up this EP up with its pumping disco flavour, compatible with any throbbing floor.
