Press Info:
‘World’ is the debut album dreamt up by Barcelona based DJ / Production duo Memorial Home. Comprising of Paul Roux (France) and Jeremy Pinchasi (Belgium), ‘World’ is the exciting result of their shared desire to push the limits of their own brilliant musical foresight. It’s an ambitious 20 track longplayer which effortlessly showcases the incomparable sonic space shared between both musical masterminds.

Sitting somewhere just to the left of Nicolas Jaar, Radiohead, Massive Attack, Mike Dehnert and Ostgut Ton, Memorial Home has managed to craft an album absolutely unique to their sound, impossible to categorise and sure to catch the attention of music lovers of all shapes and sizes. Techno without a dancefloor, experimental electronica fit for the warehouse raves. It’s an exciting, perfectly confusing album which simply works wonderfully.

Heavily textured in incredible atmospherics, dub effects and crisp, clear percussion, ‘World’ spreads over an excellent array of individual tracks full of groundbreaking musical magic. Incorporating a stunning fusion of live instrumentation and electronic craftsmanship, ‘World’ is an audio adventure into emotive soundscapes, with a clear focus on the subtle saturation of melancholy. It’s a soundtrack for a dystopian film yet to be written. A sonic painting for the coming winter months where the trees are all but dead and frozen; and the ground a thick layer of glowing white snow.

Memorial Home are the founders of the independent label Rapid Eye Movement, which has seen a breadth of incredible EPs riding the balance between experimental Techno and introspective electronica. They first met by random chance in their newly adopted home of Barcelona, Spain. This unexpected encounter quickly developed into a full-fledged musical kinship through their shared interest in crafting cinematic, experimental techno music. Each release from the label and duo showcase their clear passion to unearthing sounds beyond the expected. With their debut LP about to drop, the future is looking certain for the duo, the label, and the changing face of modern day electronic music.

Press Info:
Nur Jaber, Wrong Assessment, Edit Select & Reggy Van Oers remix Rapid Eye Movement label cofounders VII Circle and Memorial Home’s ‘Split EP’ from earlier this year.

Launched last year, the Spanish label has released music by Kas:st, Phara & Border One and Manent on various artist packages, not to mention remixes from Farrago, Keith Carnal and AWB. Rapid Eye Movement now invites four techno stalwarts to remix tracks from VII Circle and Memorial Home’s ‘Split EP’, including Staub resident and OSF producer Nur Jaber, Clergy and Planet Rhythm’s Wrong Assessment, Soma artist Edit Select and Affin regular Reggy Van Oers. With this the label confirms that quality and free-minded artistry are the key pillars of the platform’s curation philosophy.

First up, Nur Jaber delivers trance-inducing modulations and esoteric atmospheres through uplifting leadlines and euphoric 303 synth sounds in her remix of ‘Metaphysical Functions’. Wrong Assessment provides a tougher four to the floor techno rendition of ‘Dogma’ – filled with emphatic drums and captivating, fastpitched shrills soaring over.

Edit Select then provides an enchanting ambience in his remix of ‘Second Floor’, through angelic melodies and undulating emotiveness neatly layered over the polished drum loop. Lastly Reggy Van Oers maintains the inspiriting mood with esoteric, experimental sound design in his rehash of ‘Ampere’, balancing compelling, reverberating percussion with heavenly elements giving it an overall hypnotic effect.

Press Info:
Rapid Eye Movement co-founders VII Circle and Memorial Home team up for a split release featuring four atmospheric techno cuts entitled ‘Split EP’.

Launched in 2017, Rapid Eye Movement is based in Barcelona and co-owned by VII Circle, an Italian duo comprised of Andrea Vallisneri and Andrea Casari, and Memorial Home, who is French artist Paul Roux and Belgium’s Jeremy Pinchasi. Both label owners provided Rapid Eye Movement’s first and second release before introducing artists like Phara & Border One, Manent and Kas:st in a various artist package earlier this year. They now partner up for the label’s fourth outing.

VII Circle inaugurates the package with ‘Metaphysical Functions’, an ominous production incorporating murky drones and skittering hats. Next is ‘Dogma’, with its rumbling drums, echoing melodies and fizzy nuances before Memorial Home takes over on the flip, beginning with the syncopated drums and celestial harmonies of ‘Second Floor’. The duo then concludes the release with the skipping percussion, tantalising synths and crystalline chords of ‘Ampere’.

Press Info:
For its third release, Rapid Eye Movement conveys various artists to propose another stunning odyssey into the fields of forward-thinking deep and dark techno. Following the industrial acid and rave spirited rocket « Rack rash » launched by Phara & Border One, Memorial Home drives the space shift to trigger with « About Her » our neuronal and emotional crazytivity with a subliminal dogged rhythm driven theme which combines frantic and syncopated beats with highly suggestive atmospheric sound waves. If « Another Wasted Night » by Manent slows down the pace, it is to provide a sublime artistic statement of intense cinematic and contemplative techno moods. This is just to announce the gem provided by Kas:st merging hypnotic layers of UFO-like sounds with an awesome melodic main theme rocking or soothing our souls such as in a Kubrickian travel to the outer space. Closing the journey or rather opening our mind towards infinite and undefined horizons, « Eternal » by VII Circle is another demonstration of these talented producers’ ability to craft highly emotional tunes, this time by merging industrial techno groove with haunting trippy trance synth textures.

Press Info:
For the second release of their own imprint “Rapid Eye Movement”, Memorial Home heads the way and signs an opus chock-full of profoundly personal character, high sensitivity and forceful refinement.

The EP, to be issued in December 2017 in both vinyl and digital versions, features three original tracks and two remixes composed by Kas:st and AWB. Properly titled “Somewhere”, it is driven by an aesthetic quest for the essence of musical creation, when it becomes a channel of connection with the deepest self or intimate soul. Technical brilliance, expressed in its purest form and exempt of any tricks or artifices, here is clearly used to serve emotive escapism and the elevation of mind, while the body is shivered by sensitive thrills. Thanks to this mature recipe, the duo leads us into a crystal halo nurtured by immersive and melodic waves of arpeggios and emphasized by evocative ethereal breakdowns. With “Silver” and “Somewhere”, the techno dogging beat and the steady bassline are appropriately mastered to highlight the dramatic progression of melodic synth textures that have a fierce mystical appeal. “Escape” demonstrates that an ambient-like downtempo can reach the same magnetic effect by harnessing a mixture of intimate and hypnotic atmospheres. The more energetic or banging techno approach adopted by Kas:st and AWB magnifies the cosmic spirit of the original signature without losing its genuine emotional sophistication and complexity. A captivating demonstration of anti-demonstrative mastery. No doubt that with this new release Memorial Home will speak to the mind of knowledgeable music lovers as well as nightclubbers in demand of subtle and elegant flavors.
