Info:
Mote-Evolver’s ever successful Parallel Series is now on to its fourth installment, this time with two West Coast producers – Developer and Truncate – going head to head. Pairing of the two is uncanny in many ways given their close friendship and the geographical base they share, and appears to be the perfect choice to highlight the difference between their sound and style to realize the concept of Parallel Series: contrast & compliment.

The EP opens with “Random Attractions” by Developer, a producer who’s known for the deeply dramatic groove charged with masculine energy. With its focused and streamlined forward-moving force, “Random Attraction” is a track of relentless agility. “Drive Themes” maintains the same tempo but adds enticing elements of distorted shouts of melody on top of the ruthless yet smooth layers of chords and hats, all beautifully harmonized to perfection. Developer’s contribution makes the darker and moodier side of EP and its stirring emotion serves as a nice counterpart to its slightly more lighthearted flip side.

Fellow LA-based producer Truncate steps out of his usual sound of rock-solid and thumping techno with “Is It Skinny?”, a spaced-out hypnotic track that contains a vocal sample that’s so demure and unexpected that it melts into the swirling bleeps of melodies, and you wouldn’t even notice if it wasn’t the title that gives out. “Fourty Four” is yet another track that’s born for the floor, inducing aural pleasure with its funky rolling bass dancing with congo-like drums and claps.

It‘s simply called „Moderat II“ and we aged about 10 years while making it. We still think it was worth the trouble.

Not seeing any sunshine or daylight for a long time, we can‘t wait to go on tour in August and play the new stuff live.

Once more, we cooperated with our friends from Pfadfinderei to create the new live show and the artwork.

To follow the cover design of the debut album and create a design series, we asked Siriusmo, who had already been drawing the punching woman of the first Moderat album.”

Wieder einmal haben wir mit unseren Freunden von der Pfadfinderei für Artwork und Live-Show kooperiert. Um dem Design des ersten Albums treu zu bleiben und eine Design-Serie zu kreieren, haben wir Siriusmo – der die Frau auf dem ersten Cover gezeichnet hat – nach einer neuen Zeichnung gefragt.“ Das neue Album „II“ wird in verschieden Formaten erscheinen. Alle Standartformate haben die Katalognummer MTR035, die deluxe Versionen unter MTR036. Das reguläre Tracklisting des Albums als digital Version beinhaltet 11 Songs, die single LP 8. Die digitale deluxe Version beinhaltet einen zusätzlichen Bonus Songs (12 insgesamt), die deluxe 2xLP 11 Songs.

Das Cover für beide Formate unterscheidet sich, damit die deluxe Version sofort erkannt werden kann. Alle Formate werden in einer speziellen Verpackung ausgeliefert, die Sammlerherzen höher schlagen lassen wird. Das Design stammt, wie beim ersten Album, von dem Design und Visualkollektiv Pfadfinderei: „Wir wollten, dass das Design dem alten folgt und eine Serie entsteht, also haben wir Siriusmo gefragt, ob er das alte, von ihm gemalte, Cover aufgreifen kann und mit einem ähnlichen Entwurf für „II“ aufwarten kann. Gleichzeitig wollten wir etwas mehr Farbe verwenden, so dass die Weiterentwicklung der Band auch im Design optisch sichtbar wird. Es ist verwand aber unterschiedlich. Anders als beim Debütalbum wird es auch verschiedene Cover für die unterschiedlichen Formate geben, um auch hier eine optische Unterscheidung hervor zu heben.“

„II“ wird weltweit auf Monkeytown Records veröffentlicht. Für die USA und Kanada sind wir stolz, mit dem Indie-Label Mute Records einen legendären Lizenzpartner gewonnen zu haben. Diamond Version return with a brand new EP, the latest in a series of EPs which precede the release of their debut album. The album is due out in Autumn 2013 and will feature a selection of the EP tracks alongside unreleased tracks and new versions with guest vocalists.

EP5 is four new tracks – The Future Of Memory, Operate at Your Optimum, Sense and Simplicity and Make.Believe – and is released digitally on 17 June with a 12” following on 8 July 2013

The band return to Sonar on 14 June (7.30pm Sonar Hall) for a performance that follows their debut audio-visual live performance in 2012 before returning to the Depeche Mode tour for a series of dates and two further festival appearances – Malta Festival in Poland and Melt Festival in Germany.

Diamond Version the collaborative project between two of the most groundbreaking, experimental and visionary creators in modern music, Byetone and Alva Noto.

Derzeit auf Tournee im Vorprogramm mit Depeche Mode in Osteuropa, und kurz vor Abreise Richtung Sonar Festival, haben Carsten Nicolai und Olaf Bender die letzte ihres fünf EPs umfassenden Werkzyklusses vorgelegt. Als führende Köpfe des Chemnitzer Labels Raster-Noton, und mit ihren Solo-Projekten Alva Noto und Byetone, sind sie Veteranen im Grenzgebiet von intuitiver und konzeptueller Kunst, von Galerie und Dancefloor. Raster-Noton und Mute hatten zuletzt im Rahmen des von Mute kuratierten Mute Short Circuit Festivals 2010 in London, sowie beim 15. Labelgeburtstag von Raster-Noton im Berliner Berghain eng zusammen gearbeitet.

“We are delighted to have Diamond Version join Mute’s roster. With a strong live performance and a compelling visual identity, they fit right in here. We’ve known each other, and collaborated in the past – most recently with the Short Circuit festival at the Roundhouse – and it’s exciting to be able to work with them on their debut album.” sagt Daniel Miller.

Später im Jahr erscheint ihr Debütalbum. Darauf enthalten Outtakes, neue Stücke, Remixe der EPs und viele Gast-Vokalisten, deren Namen derzeit noch unter Verschluss stehen.

“Diamond Version ist aus der Live-Situation heraus geboren. Wir spielten bei passenden Gelegenheiten zusammen Zugaben nach unseren Solo-Sets. Diese spontanen und improvisierten Tracks hatten immer eine ganz spezielle Energie, die wir in unseren Solo Projekten vermisst hatten”, erklären Alva Noto und Beytone. “Mit Diamond Version versuchen wir, diese Energie einzufangen und sie dabei gleichzeitig mit unseren konzeptuellen Ideen zu kombinieren. Zum Beispiel sind wir jeden Tag mit der Daily Short Message Information Culture (DSMIC) konfrontiert. Die spezielle Ästhetik, die in diesem System herrscht, wurde ein starkes Thema für uns und eine Art Blaupause für die visuelle Umsetzung des Diamond Version Projekts.”
