Info:
Mote-Evolver continues to push on into uncharted territories of electronic music with the ‘Parallel Series 1’, the first in a new series where 2 artists are featured side by side – contrasting and complementing. A dedicated producer with over than a decade of experience, British born ASC goes head to head with Luke Slater’s rather rare L.B.Dub Corp guise over 4 tracks of vivid new techno.

ASC’s textural, earthy and spacious ‘Slow Burn’ does exactly that. Building from reduced layers of paranoid percussion and hot fragments of sound, he creates a bass heavy world of machine funk that leans pleasingly towards more abstract zones. The somewhat brighter ‘Transit’ floats on a bed of liquid reverb, punctuated by jittering percussion, digital interference and brooding deep atmospheres. Certainly a trip into the outer limits, ASC’s uncompromising sound continues to grow.

L.B.Dub Corp is Luke Slater’s alias geared towards dub influenced jams which straddle house, techno and more experimental zones. Heavy on the static, tape delay and freaked-out melodic elements, what comes across initially as a carefully restrained DJ tool in ‘Lurcher’s Dub’, reveals itself to be an inspired fully-electronic jazz jam of sorts. The more grounded ‘Native Dub’ laces a rubbery bell line amongst carefully placed layers of delay as elements build,
then disintegrate with addictive hypnotism.

Review (5/5 stars):
“Slow Burn” by ASC is sick tool to push the audience from one side of the dancefloor to the other. A lit bit angry?

“Transit” by ASC is filled with brigther sounds. Something to reduce the speed.

“Lurchers Dub” by L.B. Dub Corp … is frisky with a slight note of Jazz.

“Native Dub” by L.B. Dub Corp .. is dubby at all.

Definitely another MOTE release I love. I guess Mote-Evolver will be my techno label of the year in 2011.

Info :
Marcel Fengler doesn’t mess around, and neither does he with his productions. Released in May last year, his “Thwack EP” showcased the kind of pulsing, throbbing techno sound that few other producers can equal in intensity. It was a perfect match for Luke Slater’s Mote-Evolver imprint that continues a fresh and consistent release schedule of heavy, driving techno records. Whether marked by their distinctive “Berghain sound”, their relentless intensity, or simply their affinity for the dance floor, Mote-Evolver’s releases remain unmatched for their quality. Now, having gathered together
some of the most seasoned techno producers, Mote-Evolver presents four remixes of Marcel Fengler’s “Thwack.”

The “Thwack Remixes” EP starts off with Norman Nodge’s percussive and dubby re-working of “Thwack”. Tense yet subdued, Nodge balances contrasting elements that bring the original recording into unseen new territories. Following second on the A-side is Luke Slater’s remix as Planetary Assault Systems, which expands upon the intensity of “Thwack.” Layered with thick, heavy bass, the PAS remix grabs hold with its entrancing low frequencies as well as its screeching and howling effects.

Mike Parker contributes his remix of “Thwack” on the B-side, which uses fuzzy effects and pulsing bass to create an atmospheric re-imagining of the track. Intriguing and mysterious, Parker’s remix charges the dance floor with an electric-like current ready to be struck by metaphorical sonic lightning.

The digital release includes an additional remix by LB Dub Corp, the moniker used by label-boss Slater for his deeper productions. Swirling and hypnotic, LB Dub Corp’s remix uses the pace of the original track and adds a bouncing bassline that rumbles forward, just as engaging as the original release.

Press Info:
Having established an relationship with Luke Slater’s Mote-Evolver imprint, Shifted has been releasing some of the freshest and highly acclaimed techno tracks at the moment. What ‘Control’ does bring, however, is an impressive follow-up release!

With his ‘Control EP’ Shifted’s newest production brings no further clues as to the identity of this highly-regarded yet anonymous producer. Having established an relationship with Luke Slater’s Mote-Evolver
imprint, Shifted has been releasing some of the freshest and highly acclaimed techno tracks at the moment. What ‘Control’ does bring, however, is an impressive follow-up release to the ‘Drained EP’ released on Mote-Evolver earlier this year.

Composed of four minimalist yet thumping tracks, Shifted’s Control release evokes an attitude towards techno that is raw and deep while also engaging. Beginning with ‘Control’, the EP starts out energetically with a tribal rhythm that mixes in with spaced-out effects and plenty of grooving underlying bass. ‘Structure’, takes a bassheavy turn that carries with it an intense and ominous feel throughout. It moves forward rapidly with pulsing basslines that carry a distinct and focused intensity.

The B-side, starting with ‘Resurface’, pounds hard and mixes in atmospheric tones as it constantly builds momentum while reaching its climax. ‘Drifting Over’ balances a deep mysterious driving attitude with a whole range of low sonic frequencies fine-tuned specifically for their resonance on any dance floor’s sound system.

Press Info :
Luke Slater’s Mote-Evolver has been busy keeping the techno scene on its toes with a string of releases that have proven the credentials of the label and challenged the status quo. High profile releases such as Planetary Assault Systems Deep Heet Vol. 2 and the Jerome Sydenham vs Function and James Ruskin remixes of GT have set the benchmark for a release schedule that has seamlessly encompassed music from Slater and his peers as well as the best of the new school producers who are evolving the techno sound for the next generation.

One such producer who could be attributed to either of these categories is Cari Lekebusch. Often credited with serving as inspiration to a generation of electronic music producers, the founder of “Swedish Techno” has earned a reputation as a diverse and evolutionary force within techno thanks to a steady stream of quality productions and so Mote-Evolver welcomes Cari back to the label for his second release with open arms.

Third Eye Vision, inspired by ideas of cerebral exploration, is one for the heads. Built around a building groove emitting a constant melodic hum; the effect is a disorientating hypnosis enhanced by psychedelic chimes and detuned reverbs.

Ana Kata, with its playful, off-centre styling, continues the EP?s theme of other worldliness. Warm and enticing yet stark and challenging at times, the fusion of contrasting elements from both sides of the palette creates an alluring harmony.

out now: Planetary Assault Systems – Deep Heet Vol. 2 [Mote-Evolver]

Mote-Evolver

Format:

Tracklist:
01.
Sucktion

02.
Pow Wow

03.
Raid

Press Info:
Having surprised everybody but themselves last time out with the Drained EP by Shifted, Luke Slater’s Mote-Evolver is now ready to drop the gears and put the pedal firmly to the metal with the second installment of Luke’s Planetary Assault Systems “Deep Heet” Series.

Volume 1 of Planetary Assault Systems “Deep Heet”, released in March 2006, signaled the return of Planetary Assault Systems after a 5-year hiatus. The release of this second volume, exactly 5 years later to the day, marks the culmination of Slater’s Planetary Assault Systems tour that began in 2009 with the release of the “Temporary Suspension” album on Berlin label Ostgut Ton.

Comprising three state-of-the-art expeditions into deep space techno, Deep Heet Vol. 2 takes techno back to its primitive roots, adding details inspired by yet-tobe-explored points in the galaxy; only visible from Slater’s Spacestation Ø UK studio.

Sucktion opens the EP in glorious style. The basis being a powerfully hypnotic groove, the track evolves steadily, drawing the listener in completely before revealing its subtle, beautifully powerful, harmonic breakdown.

Mechanical and tense, Pow Wow combines the sonic dynamism of hollow reverberating rhythms with oscillating melodic loops which together create a tightly woven groove that ultimately implodes into a shrill explosion of frequencies

Raid closes out the EP with its shimmering minimalism crafting a calm contrast to the rest of the EP. Pulsing melodies and echoing chimes attract the focus while a heavy flat kick and spurts of firing hats add the necessary dancefloor momentum.
