Press Info:
Hertz Collision & Gene Richards Jr land on Chris Liebing’s legendary CLR with ‘Must Do It EP’.

Previously collaborating on Truncate’s self-titled imprint for 2021’s ‘Hood Thang EP’, Hertz Collision & Gene Richards Jr join forces again for ‘Must Do It EP’. Arriving on Chris Liebing’s influential and recently relaunched CLR imprint, the EP showcases the duo’s knack for crafting raw, speaker-rattling techno and features a remix from Truncate.

Leading the release, title track ‘Must Do It’ is a dynamic, no-nonsense techno jam, complete with hyped vocals and sizzling percussion. Fresh from celebrating the tenth anniversary of his label, Truncate delivers a cast-iron groove in his remix, peppering the original with crunchy stabs and metallic delays.

On ‘Change’, atonal bleeps meet a trance-inducing vocal loop as perfectly placed drum hits dance around central trippy elements. Bringing the release to a close is ‘Hunting Dimensions’, which sees a squelching synth line morph and evolve alongside detailed FX and rolling drum patterns.

Liebing’s iconic CLR imprint, started in 1999, returned in 2021 after a five-year hiatus. Initially titled Chris Liebing Records until 2010, then Create Learn Realize until the break, and now Create Learn Repeat, CLR reemerged in the techno underground with releases from Liebing himself, followed by newcomer Frankie Bromley.

Press Info:
UK-based Frankie Bromley arrives on Chris Liebing’s legendary CLR imprint with ‘Forgiveness EP’.

Arriving on the recently relaunched CLR, Bromley turns in four direct, no-nonsense tracks for one of Europe’s longest-running and most influential techno imprints.

Opening track ‘Spider’ sees the UK-based DJ/producer weave a web of dense, gritty atmospherics amongst trippy synth work and seismic drums before title cut ‘Forgiveness’ brings a wonky bassline, spacey percussion, and ghostly vocals to proceedings.

Shuffling percussion meets slowly modulating low-end in ‘Drama’, the track slowly winding through a constantly building arrangement, before ‘Mental Resistance’ provides the finalé, bringing down the pace and ticking all the boxes for a late-night trip, with sharp drums, dubbed-out FX, and machine-like hits closing out the EP.

Hailing from Manchester, Frankie Bromley has previously appeared on the likes of Codec 992, Øbskure, and more, with his music picking up support from some of techno’s biggest names including Radio Slave, Richie Hawtin, and of course, Chris Liebing.

Press Info:
Chris Liebing relaunches his legendary CLR imprint with ‘Bruson EP’.

Landing on 16th July, Liebing’s three-track ‘Bruson’ EP sees one of Europe’s longest-running and influential techno imprints return after a five-year hiatus.

Now retitled Create Learn Repeat, the imprint has releases lined up from Frankie Bromley, Gene Richards Jr, Hertz Collision and more, with Liebing seeking to provide a platform for new and emerging talent and his releases.

“My initial motivation for running labels was to be able to release my music without the hassle of dealing with other labels, being able to release whatever I wanted, as well as releasing the music of friends. The first phase of ‘Chris Liebing Recordings’ ended when I decided to rename it to ‘Create Learn Realize’ so it could be a platform for other artists that I wanted to promote.

Since putting the label on ice in the mid-2010s, I’ve always missed label work and the connections that you have with other artists, especially the possibility to discover new upcoming artists and help them grow by giving them a platform for their music. I’ve decided to start Phase 3 of CLR, calling it ‘Create Learn Repeat’. There are so many talented young ones out there, and it’s fantastic to see and hear what they do and to be able to help them get a foot in the door of this business. Besides my own ‘first’ new release, I already have some great releases lined up by artists like Frankie Bromley, Gene Richards Jr, Hertz Collision, and more to come. Fun times ahead, let’s create, learn and repeat” – Chris Liebing

Released as Liebing prepares to drop his ‘Another Day’ LP in November on Mute, the ‘Bruson’ EP is a neat snapshot of his non-LP side, focused purely on the dancefloor and relentlessly gritty.

Chris Liebing’s‘ Bruson EP’ drops on 16th July via the CLR Bandcamp.

Press Info:
Succeeding his profound and forward-thinking album ‘Depth Charged’ which was revealed last February, Terence Fixmer returns with ‘Depth Charged Remixed’ featuring Ostgut Ton’s Answer Code Request and UK’s underground techno hero Steve Bicknell.

‘Elevation’, originally the final track of the album, emotional and reflective, is kicked up a notch by ACR’s Patrick Gräser by adding ponderous drum patterns making it perfect for the floor. Conversely, Steve Bicknell takes on ‘Unforeseen’. With it’s fast paced rolling bass it is now put into top gear shivering with feverish reverberations.

To compliment each variation, included on the EP are Fixmer’s own live versions that have energetically filled dance floors throughout his tour.

Press Info:
With the “Departing Comfort EP”, CLR artist DRUMCELL has put together a heavyweight remix package for one of the tracks from his debut long-player “Sleep Complex”. After receiving raving reviews and massive support in the international scene, the Californian dj/producer has invited some of today ´s most intriguing Techno artists to create their own version of his outstanding composition. The title is fairly self-explanatory and goes back to an emotion, which followed MOE ESPINOSA aka DRUMCELL all through his life. “Departing Comfort” deals with leaving one ´s comfort zone, facing change and exploring new grounds without caring about possible expectations, a challenging experience, skilfully manifested in the original version of the track. DRUMCELL is one of today ´s most extraordinary and promising electronic musicians and his way of expressing deep and truthful emotions with his characteristic blend of Techno is one of the most remarkable and recognizable trademarks of his work. To have LUKE SLATER ´s PLANETARY ASSAULT SYSTEMS contribute a remix is in itself a major thrill, but the result is even better than anyone could have expected. Elegantly driving, straightforward, deep Techno, perfectly arranged by one of the most experienced and popular underground players of our time – a more than dignified A-side. On the B-side of the vinyl we can find the ORPHX remix, which remains faithful to the broken beat structure of the original. It creates a suspenseful atmosphere and contains distorted rhythms and acidic sequences, reflecting the sonic roots of the original. The second title on the B-side is the MATERIAL OBJECT Remix, characterized by a big, hypnotic bass- line, slowly building with a variety of well-chosen rhythmic elements and textures. Apart from this exceptional vinyl, there is the digital package, which also contains the superb original by DRUMCELL himself and another fairly vanguard remix by BOBBY DOWELL aka PINION. With this through and through excellent release, DRUMCELL is once more underlining his significance in today ´s world of electronic music and advocates an exciting and trend-setting Techno sound.
