Press Info:
Following the success of their debut album, ‘Eros Anikate’, Berlin-based DJ and Producer couple Local Suicide return with the first of four remix EPs for their release, each named after an ancient Greek god.

The Greco-German duo is known for their wild fusion of new wave, acid, slow techno, EBM, and dark disco that has been driving live audiences into a frenzy across the globe. Their debut ‘Eros Anikate’ comes after 13 EP releases, which have received acclaim from the music press worldwide and earned them the title of key figures in the up-rising dark disco scene. The LP includes selected vocal features and collaborations from Lena Platonos, Curses, Theus Mago, Kalipo, Hard Ton, The Hidden Cameras and more. Earning immense support from the likes of Mixmag, Der Spiegel, Tsugi, Faze, Inverted Audio, Sonic Seducer, Starwax, Side Line, Ransom Note, Groove, The Sun, Kaput Mag, Electronic Groove, Deutschlandradio Kultur, Lifo, Spotify and Apple Music, ‘Eros Anikate’ marks the duo’s next step on their journey to a worldwide techno-disco takeover.

‘Eros Anikate – Adonis Remixes’ is a 5-track EP featuring two remixes for ‘High Buildings w/ Lee Stevens’, one for ‘Whispering w/Curses’, and two remixes for ‘Hercules Adonis’. The EP will be released on digital and vinyl formats via their Iptamenos Discos imprint on September 16th, 2022.

The EP opens with a remix of ‘High Buildings’ from the German cold wave band Die Selektion. The band, formed in 2010 from another experimental post-punk project, draws influences from new wave, orchestra, techno and 80s synth pop, creating a unique blend of styles that is both melancholic and danceable. Their use of the trumpet and deliberate choice of German-language texts sets them apart from other bands in the genre, earning them success in Germany and beyond. Their remix of ‘High Buildings’ is a faster, grittier and more aggressive rework of the original, contrasting punk style vocals and harsh, saw bass lines with the soft ambiences and vocals of the original track.

The second remix for ‘High Buildings’ comes from Berlin’s own Jennifer Touch, who adds arpeggiated acid-like synth sequences and warped vocals for an energetic and driving edit. Touch is known for her unique combination of vintage synths, industrial soundscapes and visceral post-punk snarl. Her music is heavily influenced by her memories and observations of the social climate during her upbringing in East Germany, filtered through a young and naïve mind. After the wall came down, her musical tastes expanded beyond 80s pop, and she embraced the bleak and rough techno of Berlin’s burgeoning underground, forming the post-wave, cold-pop acid sound she is known for today.

Cornelius Doctor’s remix of ‘Whispering’ strips back the guitars and staccato synth lines, opting instead for softer oriental style pads and drones, textures and percussion for a slowed yet bouncy and vibrant remix. His style sits at the convergence of cosmic, discoid and wavy sounds, with percussion, dark synths, psyche voices, breaks and bells as some of his best weapons. Since starting his Hard Fist label in 2016, Cornelius Doctor has been an advocate for an uninhibited and expressive approach to dance music, opening club music to world sounds and bringing back the essence of dancing together ritually.

Rodion, known as the ‘new genius of Italian Dance music’, offers the first of two remixes for ‘Hercules Adonis’. He is heavily influenced by soundtrack composers such as Morricone and Goblin, 70s Japanese sci-fi animation soundtracks, classical music and Balearic club culture, making emotional, freaked-out electronic music that sits somewhere between cosmic, synthesised funk and the dramatic soundtrack of an Italian horror movie. His remix of ‘Adonis’ is no different, adding frantic percussion and stuttered, choppy synths that build tension and drama.

The final remix for the EP is from Alejandro Paz, a DJ and producer from Santiago, Chile. His sets are recognisable for his energetic approach on stage, where he sings and dances, and his music selection that showcases the most recent productions of the Latin panorama. His upbeat remix of ‘Hercules Adonis’ brings in percussive rhythms, bouncy bass, and silky synth pads for a groovy and energetic tune that closes out the EP on a high.

Press Info:
The hotly tipped rising producer ED1999 is releasing his fifth 12“ on his own label Porpax. On „Body Fluid“, the Belgium-based artist unleashes four slices of high octane big room techno.

„Indigo Blood“, the second track, after the EP’s bitter-sweet Carl Craig circa „Landcruising“ reminiscent ambient opener „Blurry Blue Eyes“, primes you for „Body Fluid“’s overall energy level.

Balls-to-the wall techno with more than a hint of ED1999’s love for Detroit techno. How deep this influences run in ED1999 is nowhere more audible than in „Abyssal Terror“ with its jubilant chords and arpeggios. Another fast-paced whirlwind of a track is „Deep Sea Hunter“, which has a loopy vibe to it, that is trance-inducing in the best possible way.

The bleepy „Azura Sequence“ rounds the EP off with another perfectly balanced execution of tracky forward drive and deepness. Visually, the collaboration with Berlin-based graphic artist Oliver Sperl continues. The cover of „Body Fluid“ is one of Sperl’s artworks that the Porpax team purchased at an exhibition in Berlin a while back.

Press Info:
Recoil is the musical project of former Depeche Mode member, Alan Wilder, and Mute will release the project’s last three albums Liquid, Unsound Methods and subHuman. Originally a solo venture for Alan’s more experimental work outside of Depeche, Recoil became his primary music project after he announced his departure from the band in 1995.

The Golden Gate Jubilee Quartet, Rosa Torras, Diamanda Galás, Nicole Blackman, Samantha Coerbell, and others power Alan Wilder’s passionate yet unsettling Recoil album, Liquid. Released in 2000, Liquid possesses a hypnotic and deeply charged allure drawn from its intense tapestry of desire, fury and violence. An exceptional piece of work for self-reflection in the company of darker side yourself, the record is intended drill holes into your psyche in a genuinely unhinged way.

Press Info:
Terence Fixmer has announced details of a new album, his debut for Mute, and shared the first single, ‘Corne de Brume’. The new album, Shifting Signals, is set for release on double vinyl, CD and digitally on 2 December 2022.

Over two decades, Terence Fixmer has mapped his singular sound across a sizable stack of singles, EPs and seven grit-smeared solo albums intended to make you sweat. For his first album on Mute, the space-inspired Shifting Signals, he deals out a fistful of club-minded, pitch-black ragers while expanding his sound palette to convey a wider spectrum of moods.

Lead single ‘Corne de Brume’ (meaning “foghorn”) is the album’s guiding star and hard-hitting statement piece; a six-minute tempest of sawtoothed synths designed to evoke a ship’s foghorn, setting a moody and uncompromising tone with ear-piercing synthwork that slices through the foggy noise. “I was imagining a boat sailing off somewhere into the distance”, says Fixmer.

Throughout Shifting Signals, the follow up to 2018’s album Through the Cortex, he fixes his gaze on a vivid sci-fi world where deep space stretches out infinitely. Shifting Signals was sparked by a formative childhood viewing of Ridley Scott’s 1979 sci-fi horror classic Alien. “I was totally traumatised but at the same time fascinated by it,” he recalls. “I kept thinking about the images from the film while I was making this album”.

Shifting Signals swoops, dips and scales the heights of white-knuckle adventure, and throughout the album concepts of unknowable space extend to the vast and mysterious natural world in our more immediate orbit. On tracks such as ‘Corne de Brume’ and ‘Step to the Edge’ Fixmer captures more tangible elements – the sea, earth – but always with an eye on their wild and uncontrollable side.

On ‘Step to the edge’, Fixmer reverts to techno fervour noddding to his floor-shaking club repertoire. Similarly, ‘No Latitude for Errors’ plots the brawny coordinates of EBM via an onslaught of jabbing synths and furious beats. Along with hypnotic stomper ‘The Way I See You’, these tracks feel noticeably rooted in the trailblazing ‘techno body music’ he’s known by many for.

But it’s not all fire, brimstone and banging techno. ‘The Passage’ slowly builds tension through layers of droning, noise that surges powerfully, like a jet engine. “Everyone will obviously see something different, but for me it conjures a space centre in an alien movie at the point when you hear the transmission; it’s futuristic. You see a space shuttle floating somewhere into infinity,” offers Fixmer.

Meanwhile, the clear-eyed piano and B-movie synths on ‘Synthetic Mind’ bring a cinematic element to the album that ambient closing track ‘Desertic’ brings into focus. “I wanted give people a direct movie image in their head when they listen to it,” says Fixmer.

“On each album I aim for something different but I retain the core sound, which is always there and often dark and melancholic. Sometimes the balance tips slightly and on this album, I’m striving to be freer and open myself up more to melody.”

Originally a solo venture for Alan’s more experimental work outside of Depeche Mode, Recoil became his primary music project after he announced his departure from the band in 1995.

After a 6-year break from recording, Alan Wilder returned with Recoil’s fifth studio album, subHuman. This dark electronic album, which sets the listener a challenge to analyse what makes us human and subHuman, is a collaboration with bluesman Joe Richardson, who Wilder came across via a Google search. Richardson provided guitar, harmonica and eerie vocals dealing with themes of murder, death, and religion. Singer Carla Trevaskis llent her ethereal vocals on ‘Allelujah’.
