Press Info:
New Mute signing Sylph has announced details of Silver As It Was Before, the debut 3-track EP out on Mute on 21 May 2021.
Sylph is the solo project of former S.C.U.M founder and vocalist, Thomas Cohen, who began, several years ago, to bring a new musical project to life. Intended to be both psychedelic and collaborative in nature, it would be informed by notions of space and congregation, and built loosely around the concept of ‘mass’. This project eventually grew into Sylph; an elemental mix of electronic grit and club zing.
First track, ‘Braid’, a collaboration with French techno producer and artist, Terence Fixmer, is a slice of wiry techno that emits an industrial buzz. “That track was actually written about meeting Terence for the first time, although I haven’t told him that,” laughs Cohen. “I think I’m always looking for that in between space, and that is what I’m trying to bring with the vocal on that track.”
Sylph’s alien soundscapes have more in common with the after-dark scuzziness of S.C.U.M, so it felt natural to return to Mute, who released the band’s debut album in 2011. “On this new project I wanted to fuse the singer-songwriter format of having a verse or a chorus, with a harder electronic repetition,” explains Cohen.
Together with a techno collaborators Regis, Terence Fixmer, Nicolas Bougaïeff and Rrose, Cohen poured his ideas and inspirations, from architecture to textiles, into a series of club-tinged EPs, set for release through 2021.

Press Info:
As the last digital release taken from NovaFuture Recordings’ third vinyl sampler “Modern Love”, the label releases the track “Stay Sharp” by Italian producer Sharplines.
Sharplines runs the Death by Overdose label and previously released on RND Records and Ancient Methods’ Persephonic Sirens label. The track “Stay Sharp” mixes noisy industrial sounds, EBM patterns and distorted synths into a peak-time techno tool brimming with energy. It continues NovaFuture Recordings’ slight shift in genre for “Modern Love” that started with Gewalt’s contemporary take on Cold Wave and takes it into a dark and ravy club setting.
“Stay Sharp” will be out digitally on 19th February 2021. As the final release of label’s third cycle, taking cues from Cold Wave, EBM and Techno, stay tuned to find out in what direction our fourth sampler might be going!
