May 2014, the first release on Amsterdam imprint Format appeared. It was Amsterdam techno figurehead Juan Sanchez under his JSSL guise. Since then, he pushed an enormous amount of local techno talent alongside an impressive list of icons such as Mike Parker, Matrixxman, Truncate and many more. Over the span of almost 30 releases Sanchez has created his own vibrant world of hard hitting, deep tripping techno and he plans on keep doing so.

For FR029 he invited rising techno star Lobster for a fresh collab EP. The Hague-based producer makes big moves representing Vault Sessions and his DJ appearances around the world. Here he joins Juan Sanchez for his Format label debut in the form of the Hybris Crux EP where both producers present their latest take on rolling techno including a rework of each other’s tracks. It’s a strong representation of what Format is about and how it keeps dancefloors moving with its excellent energetic style of pure techno.

After five years of existence, we are starting a new chapter with our most extensive compilation to date. Consisting of 19 tracks, ‘Never Enough’ explores a wide range of electronic soundscapes and underscores the label’s desire to bring together artists with different backgrounds under one roof.

The release opens with an experimental track from young Georgian producer Wesley Wise, passing the torch to Black Dot – a collaborative project of Christian Kroupa and Le Chocolat Noir, marking their debut on the label with “Attachments To Lust”.

Compilation sees a perfect continuation with the electro track from Karassimeon, followed by two stellar EBM cuts from Nasdrowie and fellow Ukrainians Revolt ft. Kata. The release slowly reaches its boiling point as artists Velvet May, Ruben Seoane, NZM-99, 3.14, Rommek, and Hurtado make their long-overdue appearance on the label, each delivering perfect EBM, techno, and industrial-leaning tracks for the occasion.

Worth mentioning are two new names on Murder tbs – Tiefton and Jero Clares – keeping the real techno spirit alive! And not to forget Vulkanski, Codex Empire, and Data & P.Y.M.K., making their return to the label. The release reaches its finale with one of the label’s favorite new names: Charlou, Gewaltem, and Sob Story, all delivering their euphoric gems where the sounds of electro, new beat, and Italo disco blend together in perfect sense. All tested and approved!

“Eternality” is an immersive musical project that explores the soundscapes of a dystopian society in decline. Through dark electronic textures, industrial percussion and unstructured melodies, the album depicts a world where illusions of progress have collapsed, giving way to a disoriented humanity. Emerging from the depths of the rave scene, NZM 99’s sound sorcery is driven by dark and acid techno, underlaid with heavy, powerful bass. His electrifying and skillful performances leave crowds spellbound. As the founder of Tjalk Records, a heartfelt tribute to the boat he resides on in Lyon, NZM 99’s numerous releases on esteemed labels like Persephonic Sirens, Khoinix, and Flesh Or Die have brought him to international stages, with recent shows in Poland, Germany, and Georgia. Originally released on Laurent Garnier’s French label, F Communications, in 1997, 30 has long been out of print in the United States until now when Mute reissues it on January 27th, 2004.

30 is the follow-up to Garnier’s artist debut, Shot in the Dark (1995, reissued by Mute in 2001) and preceded the acclaimedUnreasonable Behaviour in 2000.

30 spawned the classic singles, “Crispy Bacon,” “Flashback,” and “The Hoe.”

Laurent Garnier and author David Brun-Lambert have written the book, Electrochoc, featuring stories and photos of Laurent Garnier’s musical journey while traipsing all these years between Tokyo, Sydney, Berlin and Manchester. It was published in France in the fall of 2003 and has sold 9000 copies.

Also in the fall of 2003, Laurent Garnier released the import-only, Excessive Baggage 5 CD box set thorugh F Communications.

Laurent explains,
“The whole box set idea came to me after we had been working for a few months with David-Brun Lambert (co-writer) on my book, Electrochoc. We wanted to somehow illustrate what we had been writing about, although with out being directly linked to it. Something urban, eclectic, timeless which would really define the music that makes my heart pound. I’ve chosen a few cities with which I have truly built a special relationship: Paris, London, Barcelona & Detroit. 4 countries, 81 tracks, 5 mixes recorded for 5 different occasions, in really different moods & atmospheres.”
