Press Info:
David Flores’ raw, jacking sound refines the best bits of modern production whilst staying true to the core proponents of the Techno genre. His upcoming appearance on the label shows him in great form, channelling classic sounds in an elegant, reduced fashion.

Opener DTW 2 LAX V1 pairs a pitching sequence with dry drums and the careful arrangement of a pro. On the follow up, DTW 2 LAX V2 – Flores swaps out the immediacy of the 909 for a deeper 808 drum kit without any compromise on energy. On the flip The Dawn riffs on Hood-esque polyrhythms with frenetic, driven drum arrangement before closer Minimize offers a moment of psychedelic, heads-down introspection.

Press Info:
About the release
Dancing for refugees – in times of lockdowns and closed clubs, the Berlin party collective Bewegungsfreiheit is releasing a top-class compilation with selected and mostly exclusive tracks by well-known and lesser-known DJs and producers for the first time. The proceeds from the sale will go entirely to Berlin refugees and their initiatives.

Whether Corona or not – refugees worldwide are still in a very bad way! In fact, their situation has worsened in recent months: since the fire, the situation in Moria is more hopeless than ever; shortly before the end of the year, the same thing happened in Lipa, where the United Nations had already previously described the situation as untenable. It is a crisis that persists not least because of the unwillingness to take sustained political action.

The Berlin event collective Bewegungsfreiheit also continues to be active despite the difficult circumstances for artists. For example, instead of regular parties, the group drew attention to the ongoing difficult situation of people with a history of flight in Berlin with various actions in the summer of 2020. At the same time, it launched an ongoing fundraising campaign to support Berlin-based initiatives for refugees at https://bewegungsfreiheit.betterplace.org/.

The most important feature of Bewegungsfreiheit events has always been a balanced and diverse music programme that brings together music connoisseurs, activists and refugees for one evening. Therefore, it seems only logical to release a compilation. The result: a representative cross-section of selected tracks that brings the feeling of a club night into your living room.

As at the parties, the familiar character remains important: most of the artists represented here have already played at Bewegungsfreiheit, the others have been on the organisers’ wish list for some time. Knowing that danceable music is indispensable for a party to function, the mental cinema should not be neglected either. Examples of this: the two genuine ambient pieces “Lost” by Samo Rane, who himself had to flee Iran in 2016, and “1017” by Infinite Speeds. Dreaming Of Tomorrow” by Vertical67 is also dreamy.

Of course, dance floor-oriented material is not neglected either. A heart for breakbeats with a melodic element is demonstrated by Lily Ackerman with “Buoyancy”, whø? with “Lost Desire” and Once.& ZPKF with their spherical “Contemporary Future”. Faster in tempo, but no less sweet: Mars Leder with “Doors”. More straightforward, but all the more psychedelic, “Hallucinate” by P.U.R.E. looks towards “Acid”. As in her DJ sets, Anja Zaube leads us into the dark depths of techno, which Decka literally takes up with the title “Descent”. Maral Salmassi comes just as close to the idea of sweaty moments under fog with “177Z” as “The Forgotten” by d_func. alias Alexander Kowalski. Carsten Dämbkes took over the mastering.

About Bewegungsfreiheit
Founded in the wake of the protests at Oranienplatz and the Gerhart Hauptmann School, the Bewegungsfreiheit collective has been organising club events in Berlin several times a year since summer 2014 to support refugees in Berlin and the surrounding area. The aim is to go beyond the idea of donations and draw attention to the situation of people with a history of flight, to give them and their support structures a platform, to network initiatives and to creatively use the integrative means of a joint party.

Donate for Bewegungsfreiheit.

Press Info:
I Hate Models announces his own record label: Disco Inferno.
No one hears any sound the same way. Every emotional and intellectual response to a song is a tangled network of deep-seated memories and social pressures. The most banal hook can inexplicably reduce someone to tears, while a passionate crescendo might be deflected off an impenetrable shield of self-seriousness. A pealing lead atop a thunderous kick might be instantly triggering for one dancer, while another is having their future emotional response to music shaped in that very moment. With the first release on his new, pointedly titled label Disco Inferno, I Hate Models teases the possibility of inspiring moments of intense, soul-wrenching nostalgia in one listener, and blasting open new neural pathways to profound sentiment in another.

We are but vessels for a complex system
Impressions patched into emotions
Memories modulating perceptions
Sensations ensnared by passions.
From the intellectual centre our spirit flirts with heaven,
But in our instinctive body, we’re forever skirting hell,
This must mean something to someone else.
What lies, outside the subjective self?
