Rising French techno producer Trudge makes his debut appearance on Lobster Theremin with the blistering four-track EP, Self Love Club.
Following releases for ARTS, 1Ø Pills Mate and Of Paradise – as well as his transformation from hazier sounds into full throttle techno – Self Love Club is a defining record for the young artist and an ambitious taster ahead of his debut album, slated for release at the start of the summer.
Opener Ice On My Neck sets the pace of the release combining bone-rattling drums & glacial pads to maximum effect, while title track Self Love Club ramps up the emotion without sacrificing any intensity.
On the flip, Bird Ghost’s ethereal synth lines punctuate a pummelling kick and Night Shift lowers the aggression ending the record on a dreamy, break-lined note.
‘Self Love Club’ drops Friday 19th February, via Lobster Theremin.

New Mute signing Sylph has announced details of Silver As It Was Before, the debut 3-track EP out on Mute on 21 May 2021.
Sylph is the solo project of former S.C.U.M founder and vocalist, Thomas Cohen, who began, several years ago, to bring a new musical project to life. Intended to be both psychedelic and collaborative in nature, it would be informed by notions of space and congregation, and built loosely around the concept of ‘mass’. This project eventually grew into Sylph; an elemental mix of electronic grit and club zing.
First track, ‘Braid’, a collaboration with French techno producer and artist, Terence Fixmer, is a slice of wiry techno that emits an industrial buzz. “That track was actually written about meeting Terence for the first time, although I haven’t told him that,” laughs Cohen. “I think I’m always looking for that in between space, and that is what I’m trying to bring with the vocal on that track.”
Sylph’s alien soundscapes have more in common with the after-dark scuzziness of S.C.U.M, so it felt natural to return to Mute, who released the band’s debut album in 2011. “On this new project I wanted to fuse the singer-songwriter format of having a verse or a chorus, with a harder electronic repetition,” explains Cohen.
Together with a techno collaborators Regis, Terence Fixmer, Nicolas Bougaïeff and Rrose, Cohen poured his ideas and inspirations, from architecture to textiles, into a series of club-tinged EPs, set for release through 2021.

0.9999…//READ THAT SEQUENCE LIKE A MANTRA.
After their successful collaboration on <3, Atom™ and X1N are back, this time presenting the 4 track EP »0.9«. It contains both the opening and closing tracks of <3 as well as their corresponding mutations. While »0.9 (Almost a Unit)« was remixed by Esplendor Geométrico, »Almost a Unit (0.9)« got reworked by Peter van Hoesen. »Both renditions contribute amplified iterations of inherent attributes of <3« as X1N eloquently states. On a side note it may be mentioned that in mathematics, the expression »0.999…« is considered being identical to 1. Meditating over that very fact may tell you a lot about our current reality.
