After a sustained period of enviable productivity, renowned producer Mark Fell arrives on Liberation Technologies to further carve out his own singular vision of left-field electronic music.

After reviving the SND moniker with long-term collaborator Mat Steel in 2008, and releasing a slew of singles under the Sensate Focus guise, it’s here that the mind behind recent sound installation ’64 Beautiful Phase Violations’ delivers his most visceral work yet, melding angular electronics and skittering rhythms into a sonic palette that is undeniably his own.

Treading an equally as distinctive path throughout their illustrious career, Japanese experimentalist Eye (Boredoms) contributes his own vision of ‘Parts 1-7’, an inspired pairing that’s offered up as a free download in advance as a tantalizing glimpse into the forthcoming record.

‘Time Falls Apart’ is a supple groove, with floated vocals from Paul Conboy and brassy stabs that give it an urban edge. Broad Bean Band constructs a dark, melting remix, while Wrangler creates an out of body experience with whispered vocals. Nephew glosses up the production, with a catchy bass riff, while Conboy himself makes a satisfyingly deep tech house mix. Kasper Bjorke is halfway to horizontal in his version, bathed in reverb but with a sharply focussed beat.

After more than two decades of behind the scenes collaboration – Juan Atkins & Moritz von Oswald present Borderland – their debut collaborative album to be released this summer on Tresor Records.

The album – made up of 8 sequences, which seamlessly blend the styles of both masters – was recorded at the beginning of 2013 over various studio sessions in Berlin and will be released as a series of 12″ and a CD album.

Together with a live show being debuted in May at MUTEK festival – the record gives common voice to two independent yet mutually supporting musical journeys, achieving a singular expression of club-orientated electronic music and the freedom of organic musical experimentation.
