Info (English):
Former member of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds & PJ Harvey collaborator, Mick Harvey has announced details of a new solo album, FOUR (Acts of Love), out on Mute on 29 April 2013.

FOUR (Acts of Love) is a contemplation on romantic love – its loss, re-awakening, its tumultuous struggle and its place in our universe. The album is a song cycle, divided into 3 Acts.

The album features original compositions by Mick Harvey alongside a song by long time collaborator PJ Harvey (‘Glorious’) and interpretations of The Saints’ ‘The Story of Love’, Van Morrison’s ‘The Way Young Lovers Do’, Exuma’s ‘Summertime in New York’ and Roy Orbison’s ‘Wild Hearts (Run Out of Time)’.

FOUR (Acts of Love) is Mick Harvey’s sixth solo studio album, and follows 2011’s Sketches from the Book of the Dead. Harvey, renowned for his career with The Birthday Party and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds is equally known for his soundtrack work (Chopper, To Have And To Hold, Australian Rules) and his production work (Anita Lane, Rowland S Howard and most recently PJ Harvey’s Mercury Prize winning album, Let England Shake).

FOUR (Acts of Love) was recorded at Grace Lane, North Melbourne and Atlantis Sound, Melbourne and features regular collaborators Rosie Westbrook on double bass and JP Shilo on guitar and violin.

Info (Deutsch):
Mick Harvey hat Details seines neuen Soloalbums FOUR (Acts of Love) verraten.

Das Album besteht aus drei Akten und enthält neben eigenen Stücken auch einen Song von PJ Harvey („Glorious“) und Interpretationen von The Saints’ „The Story Of Love“, Van Morrissons „The Way Young Lovers Do“, Exumas „Summertime In New York“ und Roy Orbisons „Wild Hearts (Run Out Of Time)“.

who recorded the track on her cellphone speaker.
No habits!
There are other ways to do things.
Still sometimes it all seems so bad.
Don’t worry we won’t commit Harakiri, stomach cutting or anything like it.
The honor system is corrupt, just another privilege.
Like how it’s a privilege to make an album, to move freely.
We just have to go faster we mean breakneck we mean “like crazy.”
How at 5am that warehouse beat is coming up like sour steam.
All over the dance floor we’re asking: can this DNA turn into something else?
It’s not metaphorical. It’s explicit.
There are surgeries and fantasies and holes sweating through the wall.
It’s a question about feelings. It’s a question about who gets to risk.
But things don’t change so easily.
There’s still Monsanto, fracking and “terminator seeds.”
Every morning we wake up wondering: who’s kicking who on the street corner?
Now we have to start. We choose process over everything else.
Letting go of outcomes is another privilege.
Keep it lateral.
We ask our friends to help.
Together we leave the village and walk down the road. The light starts exercising itself. The old sun is out in
his winter jumpsuit doing sit-ups and squat thrusts between the nettles and moldy brush.
10 more! We say to him. Get shaking!
Our walk gets longer. It’s a walk in the panpipes of the body. We come to the edge. So much water. The
ocean is twice its original size. We take a bunch of surveys. They know everything about us. We don’t buy
what they say. We take a heap of estrogen. All around us things are howling and then we stand on the pier
end. The light is pink and green and pink and green. It reminds us of home—like we imagine it could be.
But when the color pancakes out over the horizon, we don’t know what we’re looking at. That’s ok. This
time it’s structural.
No habits!
Of course we’re growing restless.

[News]: Documentary Evidence celebrates 10th anniversary with Mute tribute compilation MuteResponse

Info:
As you surely know we are large Mute Records fans but we are not alone. Another example for Mute loyality is the website Documentary Evidence.
The guys now celebrate the tenth anniversary of Documentary Evidence and just announced the project “MuteResponse”, a compilation of artists and bands influenced by Mute Records which will be out via Nominal Musics.

If you are a band or artist influenced in some way by Mute’s legacy, and you would like to contribute to the compilation, get in touch with them and become a part of MuteResponse.

Visit the website www.muteresponse.com for more details.

Important Note: MuteResponse is in no way endorsed by, or affiliated to, Mute Records, Mute Artists or any of its subsidiary labels. This is just another way of expressing their love for this great record label.

About “Documentary Evidence”:
Documentary Evidence is a website devoted to providing reviews and biographies of artists appearing on Mute Records and its various sub-labels since its launch by Daniel Miller in the late seventies. From time to time, they will also publish interviews with Mute artists or key personalities connected to the label, and maybe some non-Mute material too.

About “Mute”:
Mute was founded by Daniel Miller in 1978, and since then has signed and developed some of the world’s most influential recording artists – including Depeche Mode, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Yazoo, Goldfrapp, Erasure, Moby and Richard Hawley – and become home to a crop of emerging talent and recent signings such as Josh T. Pearson, Big Deal, Beth Jeans Houghton and S.C.U.M.

Whilst maintaining a firmly eclectic roster, from the earliest days of The Normal, Fad Gadget and DAF through to the techno era with artists such as Plastikman / Richie Hawtin and Speedy J via the sublabel novamute, and to the present day with hybrid electronic artists such as Yeasayer and S.C.U.M, the label has always been a champion of electronic music.

Mute also looks after a catalogue of seminal electronic artists such as Can and Cabaret Voltaire.

[Playlist]: Mute Sampler compiled by NovaFuture

Info:
Our absolute favourite label is Mute Records that was founded in 1978 by Daniel Miller. The roster include(d) influential and important musical acts such as NON, Depeche Mode, Erasure, Fad Gadget, Goldfrapp, Grinderman, Nitzer Ebb, Renegade Soundwave and Yazoo.

It was formed initially to release the Daniel Miller’s single “T.V.O.D.”/”Warm Leatherette” which became a underground hit. As he was also interested in German music, Daniel Miller signed Deutsch-Amerikanische Freundschaft for the first Mute album, “Die Kleinen Und Die Bösen”.

One of Mute’s most famous act were Depeche Mode, which Daniel signed for a single after seeing them as support of Fad Gadget. The connection between Mute and Depeche Mode was very strong and last for over 30 years.

Mute had a several sublabels with different genres and styles like novamute, Future Groove, Blast First, The Fine Line, The Grey Area. Most of them are now defunct but they also have a new baby, Liberation Technologies.

More recent acts are so different artists like Josh T. Pearson, Beth Jeans Houghton, Laibach, Erasure, VCMG, Big Deal ….

To show our love for the label we created a sampler of over 60 tracks and 5h hours of old songs and new stuff (from Mute, Mute US, sublabels). So enjoy!
