Preisfrage: Wenn die Residents des Berghain in Süddeutschland unterwegs sind – wo steigen sie dann am liebsten ab? Geeeenau – im Romy! „Ostgut Ton“, das Label des Berliner Kult-Clubs, feiert bei uns nämlich regelmäßig ausufernde Nächte. Und da kommt schon die nächste – diesmal mit Boris und Norman Nodge an den Reglern! Die Vollbedienung in Sachen Großstadt-Techno ist gesichert!
Romy und Berghain – das ist mehr als nur ´ne Club-Freundschaft. Denn beide Institutionen haben dasselbe Ziel: eine offene Plattform zu sein für alle, die Techno lieben und leben. Orte magischer Nächte. Kein Wunder also, dass der Berliner Kult-Tempel immer wieder seine Artists zu uns ins Romy schickt! Das Besondere am Berghain ist allerdings, dass er über ein angeschlossenes Label verfügt – „Ostgut Ton“. Darauf veröffentlichen die Club-DJs und -Artists den typisch dunklen, drückenden und sexy Berghain und Panorama Bar-Sound, der dann per Tonträger in die Welt geschickt wird. Die Liste der „Ostgut Ton“-Artists ist lang und ziemlich exquitist: André Galluzzi, Cassy, Marcel Dettmann, Len Faki, Âme, Marcel Fengler, Ben Klock… – sie alle haben zum typischen Berghain-Sound beigetragen.
Nun gibt’s wieder die volle Dosis „Ostgut Ton“, diesmal aufgelegt von Boris und Norman Nodge.
Boris´ Biografie ist ziemlich quirlig: Die 1980er verbrachte er überwiegend in New York. Dort sog er nicht nur den klassischen, saftigen US-House in sich auf, sondern alles, was in der umtriebigen Metropole stilmäßig so abging. Darauf fußt sein breites Musik-Spektrum, das allen Genregrenzen gepflegt den Mittelfinger zeigt. Diesen stilistischen Mix macht ihn als DJ aus, inklusive feinem Gespür für die richtige Platte zum richtigen Moment. Dieses Talent blieb nicht lange unbemerkt: Boris wurde Resident in der ersten Panorama Bar, und wurde zudem bekannt für seine stilistisch vielfältigen und ellenlangen Sets. Auch in der aktuellen Panorama Bar ist er regelmäßig am Start. Dort tut er das, was er am besten kann, wie seine Biografie verrät: „Pushen von Musik mit einem speziellen Twist.“
Norman Nodge, seit 2005 Resident im Berghain, hat einen ähnlichen Ansatz, wie er selbst sagt: „Ich möchte die Leute im Club für ungewöhnliche Sounds sensibilisieren – alt wie neu“. Bedeutet konkret: Er serviert einen energetischen Mix aus Detroit Techno, Chicago House, und – ganz generell – Techno. Dabei spielt er nicht nur brandneue Stücke und Promos, die erst irgendwann veröffentlicht werden, sondern blättert in seiner Plattensammlung auch gerne mal nach hinten in die 1980er und 1990er, um alte Perlen und zeitlose Klassiker in seine Sets einfließen zu lassen.
Nicht erst seit Beginn seiner Berghain-Residency steht er für echten, schnörkellosen Techno, der ohne Umwege und unnötigem Chichi mitten ins Herz, in die Ohren und in die Tanzbeine trifft. Anfang der 90er veranstaltete er eigene Partys in Ostdeutschland, 1994 begann er mit dem DJing. Seit 2005 macht er sich auch als Produzent einen exzellenten Namen. Seine funky-knusprigen Tracks mit den dicken, fetten, schmatzenden Bassdrums erscheinen bislang auf Labels wie „Marcel Dettmann Records“, und – natürlich – „Ostgut Ton“. Ready for the Berlin Sound?!

This Gravure is all about Industrial – if rumors are true Ascion is one of the best producers in our current techno scene. Both, his productions and his sets, are full of broken beats and classical IDM. The industrial productions of P.E.A.R.L., who is mostly releasing on his own label Falling Ethics are perfect categorized by the Hard Wax record store as “big room techno bombs”. In combination with “Liber Null” host Unhuman who’s addicted to Industrial too and two typical sets by our residents Martha and Acierate this seems to be our most brutal edition of Gravure so far.
