We are back at ://about blank to celebrate the 1st anniversary of SEELEN. This Party will be part II of our 1st anniversary weekender.

Two Facts :

Punk is a music genre that developed in the mid-1970s widely known through it’s production style of fast-paced songs, with hard-edged melodies and stripped-down instrumentation paired with an embrace of DIY-culture and the rejection of established rules.

SEELEN. is an independent Techno record label founded in 2018 by JANEIN and Stigmatique, that is based out of Leipzig, Germany.

While at first glance these might not have a lot in common, upon closer inspection you begin to notice, clear as day, there is a distinctly punk mentality in the labels modus operandi. From their cover artworks, that have more in common with a record-stores Death Metal section, to the fact that the label is completely self-distributed to avoid the industry machinery that crushes the spirits of many trying to go through it.

SEELEN.’s musical foundation can no doubt be found in this mentality as well. Formed around a tightly knit crew of artists sharing a single vision, it has sharp corners, an often eye-melting tempo and bleeds from every pore with ecstatic raving madness. Utilizing this, the label exploded onto the scene with two 12” compilations that garnered enormous support from audiences and industry heavy weights alike and also led to them being noticed by Leipzig’s reveled club Institut fuer Zukunft, MMA – Mixed Munich Arts or objekt klein a.

If reading all this has not convinced you yet however, then that’s fine though.

Because SEELEN. is not trying to win you over.

SEELEN. comes from the hearts of the people who form it.
It is a rejection of the mainstream.

SEELEN. is Punk.

Counterweight is turning 3 years old and that’s something we definitely have to celebrate as if there was no tomorrow! So, Munich, get ready for a huge & long night!

For this special night we invited the Khidi & Jaded resident Stephanie Sykes, who already left us speechless on her last visit to Munich, and the rising Parisian artist Airod, who will be playing for the first time in the city.

AIROD, the Parisian Producer & DJ has been surprising the whole techno scene with his last releases. A perfect example is his track “Universe of 90s Techno Parties” which quickly became a “classic” and an absolute dancefloor destroyer. Recently he also appeared on one of the best records of 2018, Dax Js compilation “The World of Monnom Black“, simply awesome. The young producer is also co-head of the very interesting French label Molekul. Recently he started his own imprint called “Elixyr” which is releasing the second reference these days with appearances of Milo Spykers and Farrago. Throughout his productions and sets, he gives birth to a dark and wild atmosphere that unleashes ravers. Seeking to stir up emotions above all, his hypnotical and energetic universe doesn’t let many other choices than letting yourself get carried away by the strength of his kick.

Stephanie Sykes, born in Germany, now living in Rugby and raised on a diet of techno, a travel-laden upbringing combined with a natural penchant for experimental and diverse soundscapes have paved the foundations for Stephanie Sykes to develop a highly unique musical voice, one unrestricted by boundaries and defined by deviation. She is used to play in some of the best venues around the globe, Berghain, Tresor, Corsica Studios.. moreover, she is resident at Khidi in Tbilisi as well as one of the UKs best known and longest running after-hours Jaded in London as well as legendary Atomic Jam which has been going for over 20 years in Birmingham. Her sonic presence as a DJ recently promoted Resident Advisor to award her Inner Escape Podcast as RA Mix of The Day. As a producer you can find her tracks in renowned labels like Prodigal Son, Animal Farm and Vent.
