Press Info:
Resonance is one of the most powerful forces this world has, simply because there is no way to stop it.

A drop of condensed water separates itself from the concrete ceiling. Propelled only by its own weight, it plummets down towards a cacophony of naked bodies and flailing arms to shatter on a the forehead of an ecstatic dancer. And while all this is happening, a voice resonates through the entire room, making the walls shake and the crowd lose themselves even further : “Move Your Body, Move Your Soul”.

Narciss emerges from a grimey basement in Berlin to bring us two heavy utility dancefloor cuts on Actions Speak Louder Than Words, his first Solo EP on Seelen.

The title track is truly something to behold. With a breakneck tempo, hard hitting percussions and a legendary house vocal, it wields an absolutely hypnotizing power that, before you know it, will make everyone in attendance grind and juke till the early morning hours. There is a palpapable vibe of mid 90s Detroit-Techno but still it manages to cut out an identity for its own, with razor sharp sound-design and a very uplifting attitude for its genre.

And while the tracks arrangement and sound-design is very minimal, it is on Brennpunkt that Narciss really flexes his trademark way of building tension with remarkably few elements. Everything here is stripped down to its most functional core. The synth-lead is simple yet menacing, the kick-drum hits like a boxer, and you can be pretty sure that the hihats will leave burns if you get too close to the record.

As is custom on this label, the B-side is dedicated to the reconstructive efforts of friends or family. This time the mastermind of Manhigh and Grounded Theory, Mr. Henning Baer, and Seelen’s very own Shaleen have both let their actions speak.

Henning Baer has taken on the title track in his Remix and has transformed it into a true vintage electro cut. A distorted synth and pad add heavy grit to the original’s vocal, and the warehouse sized kickdrum will knock anyone unprepared off their feet.

Meanwhile Shaleen’s re-interpretation of Brennpunkt strips it down even further, swirling the original’s elements into a groovy maelstrom. This version rumbles, clicks and sneers, with sampled voices from a Shakespeare play giving the whole ordeal a truly macabre feeling. This is a tool for only the most darkest of warehouses when the night is at its peak.

So now, to summarize this record : it is a call to action.

And because of this, it continues to resonate, even when the last track has been played.

And a resonance can never be stopped.

Press Info:
Ever since the dawn of time, humanity has been gravitating ever closer to the stars. This unknowable dark mass above us, hiding it’s secrets just barely outside our reach. But what does it actually hide?
Desolate Rocks?
Or a life that is far superior to ours?

SEELEN. Labelhead JANEIN finally descends from his homeworld, to show us some of the universes hidden mysteries and infect us with the Alien Love Syndrome on his Debut EP.

The title track, can aptly be compared to the doors of his spacecraft opening. Loud hisses and shrill bleeps spill from within to reveal blinding lights and shadowy inhuman structures. Then, as the fog lifts, the onlookers mind is shattered by the overwhelming experience. Arpeggios that twist and turn into each other, the blurping sounds of the cockpit mixing in, decorated with kickdrums heavy enough to terraform Mars.

Leaving the ship, JANEIN then begins teaching us his numerical language on 1129514, his native tongue for “Alien”. Distinctly foreign sounding it catches the listeners ear with it’s hypnotizing sharpness and airy hisses.

And though it is almost unintelligible, Berghain resident of the first hour, Fiedel and Seelen’s own Inhalt der Nacht took it upon themselves to translate the strange syllables.

Both taking very different approaches, Fiedel noticed that by changing the rhythm and focusing on the languages hiss, you can arrive at a very intellectual yet still romantic version of the original that seems like it’s interstellar message is one of peace.

Meanwhile, Inhalt Der Nacht has decided to completely reconstruct the sounds, mixing them with his own, making a heavy sounding, banging creation in the process.
But it is impossible to know what the true intent of the space-traveler is.

Because before we know it, the Unknown Flying Object has left once again.

Leaving the listener with only a distant longing for the stars, infected by the Alien Love Syndrome.

Press Info:
„In the Face of Silence what options do I have? To keep on talking, or go silent too?”

Echoing throughout murky, darkened tunnels, this question is the center-point of the fourth Seelen Release. Do you answer nothingness with nihilism and despondency? Verschwender enters the stage to answer this with a booming “NO” on the Face of Silence EP.

After bringing the Luzifer Mob to burn down surely tons of dancefloors, this outing shows him from his more calculated side while still dealing an uncompromising amount of damage, starting with the title track.

Face of Silence stomps out the woodwork with an absolutely massive bassline that keeps an interplay with the percussions throughout its run. The whole ordeal is a masterclass in balance, with the titular vocal and sharp synth stabs keeping the tension high at all times while still clearly showcasing Verschwender’s heated temperament. The voice’s contemplations on human interaction also lead us nicely into the record’s second original : The Social Anthem.

With remarkably little bounce Verschwender instead utilized his trademark sub-section to craft a true-to-fashion-warehouse-stomper. Hushed whispers, acid Synthlines and the crispest of high-hats form an almost uncontrollably violent track that is guaranteed to pulverize everything in it’s wake.

On the Re-interpretive side of the EP Elad Magdasi and labelhead Janein both offer their side of the conversation to the listener. Compared to the Original, Elad’s take almost seems more like a good argument than a straight-up fight. With a funky kickdrum and chords this remix transforms the entire mood, without adding too much, leading to an almost Detroit-techno sounding version.

Janein however wastes no time on his re-imagining of The Social Anthem and whips out gritty arpeggio’s paired with hissing High-hats. While Verschwender already used the acid- synths to a huge destructive effect, here they take center stage. Be warned, while the Original pulverizes, this version will leave scorch marks.

So, in the Face of Silence what options do we have?
After this the answer should be clear.

(Anetha Ravy Remix)

Press Info:
There is always some madness in love, whatever kind it may be. The classic telling of a love- story has evolved over thousands of years, but how can we define it’s shifting form in the modern day? After it’s two introductory 12” Compilations, Seelen now lets it’s musical mob emerge from the shadows and step into the spotlight one by one.

This string of Artist EP’s takes an electrifying jump start with the Deine Aura EP by Berlin-based Inhalt Der Nacht.

The keen observer will no doubt still remember his cut “Engel” on the first Outing of the label. But while, there he could easily be found at his most nihilistic, on this record he strikes a very different tone – telling a story of burning passion and intimate love even if it also involves writhing skin, clad in leather, lace and combat boots. The title cut opens the affair, losing no time to get to peak energy levels. Inhalt Der Nacht’s trademark percussion sounds and a catchy bassline do it’s part to set the mood, but there are layers built on this. As the track progresses, almost like a slow realization of a person seen across the room, a trance-like melody builds up to a an almost unbearably crushing full- on Rave crescendo.

“Trieb” gets in close and personal afterwards, utilizing a dampened, slowly opening arpeggio and pad-swells, releasing it’s frenzied urges towards the middle mark where all bets are off and sweat begins to drop from the ceiling.

As the record’s final Original, “Lebendig” presents itself as somewhat of an oldschool EBM Hymn, feeling like the subsequent thoughts or “coming-to” after an intense endorphine rush. Closing the record out however is something incredibly special.

The first lady of Parisian Rave aka Anetha contributed to the record with her Ravy Remix of Deine Aura, ramping up the teethyness of the percussion and letting the melodies go off-kilter from romantic and delve into full on schizophrenic territories.

But really all of the above is within reason. Because while there might some madness in love, there is always some reason in madness

Press Info:
It was Mick Jones, Punk-Rock Icon and guitarist of The Clash, who once said that Punk only lasted for 100 days. Though what tends to be amiss in that statement is, what came afterwards.

After the birth of a new chapter, what is to be expected once you turn the page?
The Second Movement. A natural evolution of what has been established.

On it’s next compilation, SEELEN. once again brings together a mob of likeminded musicians for a collection of eight tracks to realize it’s unique vision of Techno.

Ostgut-Ton regular Fiedel offers up the first piece on the record, Troll Bait. A dry love-letter to Acid, that seems clear-cut in the best way until it’s tempo starts to progressively pitch down at the halfway mark.Labelhead JANEIN takes up some clear inspiration from early trance records and contributes Apollo. An absolutely shredding nihilistic Techno Anthem, leaving nothing but scorchmarks in it’s wake. The record settles down on a few subtler notes, with Arnaud Le Texier delivering his signature hypnotism on Decryptage, yet still adapting to SEELEN. by letting sharp-as-knives hihats cut through the mist and Nicolas Bougaïeff & Narciss collaborating on Appendix. A minimalistic take on Big Room Techno, that contrasts it’s huge Synthline with Polyrhythms and breakbeats. Stanislav Tolkachev contributes undoubtedly the compilation’s most experimental piece. A modular techno cut, titled Chords, containing only a breakbeat kickdrum and a note progression that keeps misplacing and rediscovering it’s tune. The Compilation does not lose it’s footing though, and rebalances itself with three high pressure club weapons.

Stigmatique’s Unholy Description shows absolutely typical SEELEN. style, with it’s thrashing pace, absurdly hard hitting drums and kickdrum frenzy in the breakdown, Verschwender unpacks the second huge Techno anthem on this compilation with the title Luzifer Mob, a chugging monster of a track taking cues from mid 90s techno tools, and Monovsn goes full warehouse shaman on Glance Of Medusa, with booming kickdrums and crunchy percussion interlaced with menacing synth-shivers.

So in the end, who cares if someone said Punk lasted for 100 days.
The Second Movement is always stronger than the first.
