[NovaFuture Blog Exclusive Mix]: Georg Bigalke plays Aphex Twin

DJ:
Georg Bigalke

About the concept:
Here is the fifty-ninth instalment of our series “abc plays xyz”.

The idea behind it is to ask some DJs/mixing artists if they have an artist or label in mind that they love and would like to use for a mix.

So the approach of each mix is clear: the choosen DJ/mixing artist makes a selection of tracks produced by one artist (and her/his monikers) or released on a label (and its sublabels) and creates a nice mix from it.

Find links to all instalments at our overview. Today we present you Georg Bigalke’s mix of tracks made by Aphex Twin.

About Georg Bigalke:
At best, his sets are like a spontaneous visit to your favorite movie theater: without knowing the movie, you can count on an exceptional and rich selection. Carefully the scene is drawn and soon you are entangled in a rousing plot. Even dramatic twists, you hold out, because they are crowned by highlights that will be remembered for a long time. The pictures of the music are created by themselves – in 45 minutes as well as in extra length.

[NovaFuture Blog Exclusive Mix]: Felix Ansmann plays Black Sun Records

DJ:
Felix Ansmann

About the concept:
Here is the fifty-eighth instalment of our series “abc plays xyz”.

Today we present you Felix Ansmann’s mix of tracks released on label Black Sun Records.

About Felix Ansmann:
Felix Ansmann is an aspiring young DJ based in Berlin and currently living in London. During his childhood and teen years, he mostly focused on Dub, Reggae, Psychedelic and early Punk, with his father’s extensive vinyl collection being a major influence, while also being trained in classical music and Jazz. His love for electronic music then originated from a growing sense of boredom with more conventional acoustic sounds. While he kept his soft spot for IDM and Ambient, immersing himself in the Berlin Club scene made him gravitate more towards danceable rhythms and straighter Techno, and sparked his strong interest in the art of DJing. His style of mixing and his selection, with Techno as its focal point, is equally guided by his enthusiasm for music and musicality, and the love for raves and parties. Combining these aspects, he challenges himself to create a euphoric dance experience but also to present an interesting, eclectic selection.

About Black Sun Records:
Black Sun Records is a UK Techno Label founded in 2010. Its impressive catalogue includes releases by central players of the UK Techno scene like A.n.D., Sunil Sharpe, Manni Dee, and Blawan, as well as by lesser known artists like Italy’s El Bosco and Japan’s Yuuki Sakai. Although releases range from Industrial all the way to Dub Techno, the well curated catalogue still sounds coherent thanks to a distinct sonic aesthetic, consisting of often bass-heavy and wobbly rhythms, heavy drumming, and a somewhat lo-fi aesthetic. Brilliant examples would be El Bosco’s ‘Time’ EP and Blawans ‘Long Distance Open Water Worker’ EP, which sometimes leans far toward straight Techno, but still sounds reminiscent of his earlier works, which were heavily influenced by the Post-Dubstep wave.
