‘Chaos Star’ is a deeper look into my electronic synth generative / sound design work – only for the fully committed sound explorers!
I have been programming algorithms to play my synths on their own for the past few years and performing with them live in my studio, playing with the amount of chaos that’s in them. It’s like exploring nature / rain / storms, with random and unpredictable behaviour, only the sound is synthetic and in an electronic dimension. It feels like tasting life twice. Once in real life with chaos and the crazy times we are in and another one in my software world – but in this world I can control it and turn it into beautiful patterns.
In a time where chaos is all around and light at the end of the tunnel seems hard to imagine – I hope that my offering of new music can help to keep some people inspired and sooth some nerves. I don’t know about you guys, but listening to songs / traditional albums just feels too much for me right now and what I am enjoying listening to the most is these weird ambient patterns.
The cover visual is made by Berlin visual artist Ployz who I met five days prior to putting this release together via Instagram and I invited her to make a self-generative art piece using my face. It’s like a version of myself as Emika-in-the-matrix. She creates motion graphics with a strong focus on generative design and audiovisual art and we are developing some further concepts together as part of this chaos series.
I hope you enjoy listening and feel free to message me with what you think about this type of music.
Thanks and greets from Berlin.
Chaos Star was then flash released for only 24 hours, the last time Bandcamp waived their fees on May 1st.
