Checking back into Token with his unmistakable sound, Nørbak’s ‘Chuva’ delivers four relentless slices of modern techno. Stretching textures and grilling circuits, the EP presents itself as a statement expressing a high pressure dancefloor experience.

A proper introduction is never far from the Portuguese artist who has consistently pulled inspiration from ambient and experimental music. With one minute of drone to seemingly guide the experience, a swift switch decidedly flexes ‘Sonho’. Bending pitch and texture is a big theme in ‘Chuva’ and the A1 leaves nothing to the imagination as Nørbak makes his intentions as clear as ever. Switching to ‘Leveza’, the producer takes a minimalist approach with accents on the percussive arrangements. Whipping delays on off-beat drum hits create an unreal acoustic environment while maintaining a maximum amount of tension. The synth line remains insistent as rides and various hi hats urge the track into psychosis with every transition. The titletrack ‘Chuva’ takes a similar approach in the power of warm sound design, but this time we see a focus on warped melodics that are blissfully mixed in a track constantly bordering on chaos. Opening and closing the space, Nørbak takes to detuning his main synthline to create eruptive sections in the record while brewing a storm of ambience in the stereo field. As the final chapter, ‘Capa’ bends almost to a break. Rhythmically expressive in every way, the track drives the EP home with a dangerous bassline and dry percussion to ride off of it. Signing off for this latest contribution to Token records, Nørbak’s flare in the studio reasserts his position as one of techno’s most anticipated creators of recent years.

Ben Sims’ ‘Snapshot ’99’ has been remixed by ANNĒ, with three versions of one of 2023’s Techno anthems joining an original dub on the release from Hardgroove’s vinyl offshoot, Hardgroove Originals.

Stemming from the hard discovery of a riff created in 1999, ‘Snapshot ’99’ was one of 2023’s biggest tracks, with its penetrative contemporary groove offsetting the floaty, infectious topline in a rare bit of studio alchemy that joins two centuries. Now, Greek artist and Hardgroove (and sister label, Symbolism) associate ANNĒ’s versions take the track into undulating, percussive, and deep chord-laden territories that could resonate throughout a full night or provide an arsenal of weapons for the creative DJs out there. Sims dub, featured on the original release, hits vinyl for the first time in all of its stripped-back glory.

Ben Sims’ ‘Snapshot ’99’ (ANNĒ Remixes) is available now on Hardgroove Originals 12”. The digital release will follow on February 13th, 2026.

Birthmarks is the latest EP by the Hungarian producer and DJ, Man + Machine, released by the Berlin-based label Crave Tapes. The record is a dense, unsettling sound collage: a cacophony built from EBM, post-punk, industrial, and darkwave elements, sketching the contours of a dystopian future.

This vision of the future is not unambiguously hopeless on the material, rather, it is conflicted. Resigned and worn down, yet stubbornly clinging to a primal instinct for survival. The tracks on Birthmarks carry both the exhaustion of an inevitable outcome and the paradoxical presence of hope: that state where it’s no longer clear whether there is a way out, but the search itself refuses to stop.

The release features four original tracks and two remixes. Among the originals, Dream Machine stands out, featuring Zaphomet, vocalist of the Hungarian band Hellfreaks—her voice at once deeply human and eerily alien, perfectly attuned to the record’s dark, mechanized world.

On Tangled Hearts, Man + Machine himself takes on vocal duties (just as the writer of the lyrics), adding a more personal and vulnerable layer to the material.

The remixes were crafted by Estonian producer Sugar Rody and French producer Munsinger, each pushing the tension and perspective of the original compositions further in their own distinct way.

Birthmarks is Man + Machine’s most personal release to date. Its title carries a double meaning: the marks life leaves on us, and a quiet dedication to his daughter. Born into a world shaped by a turbulent past and an increasingly unsettling present, the record doesn’t surrender to despair. Instead, it insists on looking toward a chaotic future with fragile but deliberate hope.
