Press Info:
“LA DEMEURE; il y a péril en la demeure” is the opening to a five-part complex of works by artist grischa lichtenberger. “LA DEMEURE” – the residence – could be outlined as intimacy, a symbol of isolation and its possibilities. the joy of being isolated and having the change to work, explore and most importantly, experiment free from economic, temporal or social restraints is the center of attention of “LA DEMEURE; il y a péril en la demeure”.

the single tracks on “LA DEMEURE; il y a péril en la demeure” and their components are constantly broken, disassembled and reassembled again. some parts may remind of hip hop and breakbeat, others may evoke associations to a broken music box, something mechanical that is not working as it should. in his very own way, grischa lichtenberger is examining limits, new experiences and unfulfilling expectations. this unfilteredness and rawness, the lack of a target group the music is made for, is what is fascinating about this record. “LA DEMEURE; il y a péril en la demeure” thus becomes a luxurious-kafkaesque collection of materials, an uncensored archive of a seeker.

“LA DEMEURE; il y a péril en la demeure” will be released on CD and accompanied by three vinyl EPs that will put the experiment in relation to the public. the five-part cycle will be completed with a second album whose focus will be on “IL Y A PÉRIL EN LA DEMEURE” – danger in delay.

Press Info:
“sleepstep” is the first collaboration between raster-noton and dasha rush. the record‘s subtitle “sonar poems for my sleepless friends” describes its underlying concept – “sleepstep” is a trip through electronically alienated micro-compositions and sound collages that, interwoven with text passages, aim at creating a dream-like atmosphere.

the stations of this journey are striving for oblivion of time, an immersion, a drifting in universal states – death, life, birth, grief, desire. the titles often appear to be raw sketches, fugitive, surreal short stories that rather want to break open than execute.

the musical arrangement, in this context, can be described as rather subtle and fragile. though electronically manipulated, no production technique is pushing itself to the fore. and though clichés are not dreaded, “sleepstep”, as a result, stays away from being cliché. the sonar poems for her sleepless friends are feminine, subtle and personal reports. a musical dream journey in the form of a classical concept record – an album that also stands in the tradition of ambient music.

dasha rush is already known as a techno dj and producer. here on “sleepstep”, she celebrates her alter ego. the cd version comes with a 32-pages booklet that also shows her photographic interest and includes the aforementioned poems written by her. the album‘s vinyl version will follow very soon.

Track 5 is digital-only.

Press Info:
atom™‘s ep »riding the void« is, together with the visual works of »HD+«, the conclusion of his critical yet delightful examination of pop music and culture on raster-noton.

like the previous ep »ich bin meine maschine«, »riding the void« is set up very functionally, aiming at being used in the club. techno maverick scuba, for example, turns the track with his »pulse mix« into a straight and dense march, whereas atom™ himself shakes the groove out of »riding the void« with his own two lighthearted remixes. his »nought remix« presents itself as slimmed-down yet very vibrant, while »tool« is a perfectly dance floor-ready reinterpretation of the original track. furthermore, an additional remix by hanno leichtmann can be found on the digital version of the release.

the ep will be available in bundle with atom™‘s data dvd »HD+« as well as separately. so far, there were released the full-length album »HD« (r-n147) and the 12-inch ep »ich bin meine maschine« (r-n146).

Press Info:
after a break of 5 years, alva noto continues his xerrox series with »xerrox vol. 3«, entitled “towards space”, a journey that started with »xerrox vol. 1«, referring to the “old world”, and »xerrox vol. 2«, heading “to the new world”.

using the process of copying as a basis, the xerrox series deals with the manipulation of data by means of endless reproduction. due to the inherent vice of the procedure that becomes especially visible when copies are made from copies, everyday sounds are so much altered that they can be hardly associated with the source material anymore. as a result, entirely new sounds are created that, being copies of originals, become originals themselves.

on »xerrox vol. 3«, a new aspect enters the scene. inspired by childhood film memories from the 1970s including tarkovsky‘s adaption of “solaris” and “la isla misteriosa y el capitán nemo” based on jules verne‘s “the mysterious island”, the record shows alva noto‘s private side. with its very intimate atmosphere, it is a personal reflection of dreams, an imaginary journey through emotional landscapes or, as he himself puts it, a “cinematographic emotion of a soundtrack to a film that actually does not exist in reality.”

alvo noto himself further states, “I see »xerrox vol. 3« as my most personal album so far. I have to admit that this emotional output is a surprise even for myself. it remains exciting how the last two albums of this series will sound like.”
