Breathe

Press Info (English):
The first Answer Code Request EP on Ostgut Ton. Patrick Gräser has already caused a great stir with his recent releases for MDR and his own eponymous ACR label.

His debut 12“ for Ostgut Ton begins with “The 4th Verdict“ and immediately shows clear direction. The hammering beats in sawtooth shape oscillate the sound of the track perfectly. The smoothly scripted pad and the eventual phasing-out of the broken beat complete the rest.

“Ghostes“ continues the clear-cut course with unparalleled sound. The combination of drums and dreamy synths creates a mystic mood fitting the title of the track. Phenomenally everything floats in perfect conjunction.

The final track entitled “Breathe“ ironically doesn’t leave room for air. Instead a mighty synth expanse winds itself relentlessly through the song. The characteristics of it’s sound salute a trance aesthetic and only when the beats cut out does the listener get a chance take a breath.

Jubilee for DYSTOPIAN… not only the Number 005 for the label, also 5 years of DYSTOPIAN showcases around the world and a good working agency and label since 2012 – the DYSTOPIAN guys want to say thank you with that special release. And what fits better to invite some long term guests to remix DYSTOPIAN artists !

First, we invited Pär Grindvik who played the second DYSTOPIAN party ever in 2010 to remix the already wonderful ‘Stone Edge’ by Felix K. And what else to say, that one turned out into a tribal techno monster.

Second remixer is Function – he played the every first DYSTOPIAN event back in 2009 (you remember, as Sandwell District LIVE, Ben Klock, Shed and Rødhåd)…
So, this time it s our pleasure – and to get a good balance to the A-Side, he delivered a groovy hypnotizing minimalistic tool.. you need to let i grow, but than this track getting you from behind 🙂

Info:
Efdemin’s third album ‘Decay’ focuses on the deeper side of techno while exploring the beauty in decay.

Efdemin is back on DIAL with his third full-length album DECAY, following his self-titled debut in 2007 and follow-up, CHICAGO, in 2010. Once again he offers a stunningly seductive stream of music written in his very own hand.

After three years of extensive touring as a DJ, Phillip Sollmann took the chance to compose his third album under his Efdemin moniker while spending three months in an artist residency in Kyoto, Japan. Living next to a river, surrounded by temples, shrines and the ever-present blue mountains, he started working in the late summer, facing typhoons and intensive heat, and finished the album in the early mild days of winter. Thus mainly assembled in autumn, his favourite season of year, the ten tracks on “Decay” express the paradoxical relationship between beauty and decay.

The production procedure was a dichotomous one. Recording was done in his recently finished new Berlin-Wedding studio, “The Meadow,” mostly on analog equipment, while the final production took place in Japan. The result is an album of intriguing rigour and a certain beauty hidden within.

It marks a big step towards the deeper side of techno and lets many of his early influences in 90s techno shine through (from early Cologne minimalism, M-plant and Axis to Terrence Dixon) as well as his love for drone music. Although at a first glance it might seem that this album is a somehow more distant and less melodic than the previous output, it provides the full unique range of Efdemin’s vocabulary, which he is known and loved for. Decay sounds in certain parts like a of process of correction, revaluation and re-alignment, making room for new thing to come. There is beauty within decay.

Efdemin is very closely associated with DIAL records, ever since the early days in Hamburg.

Dial Records is a music label focusing primarily on post-minimal dance music. The label has released a number of influential 12″s and full-length albums by artists such as Pantha Du Prince, Efdemin, Roman Flügel, John Roberts, Lawrence and Carsten Jost. Besides it’s electronic dance releases, the uncompromising release policy of Dial Records allows a huge variety of music including the singersongwriters Phantom Ghost and Dominique, drones and experiments by Phillip Sollmann, Queens and Glühen4, chamber music by Christian Naujoks. Another claim of the label is the unique graphic design by Till Sperrle and an extraordinary selection of cover artists featuring Amelie von Wulffen, Christian Flamm, Hanna Schwarz, Mathias Poledna, Monika Michalko, Sergej Jensen and many others.

Dial Records was founded in 2000 in Hamburg, Germany by David Lieske, Pawel Kominek and Peter M. Kersten and is now based in Berlin, where regular showcases at Panorama Bar present the eccentric
groove of the label.
