Press Info:
The second release of Inkblots involves three great artists deeply active into the international techno scene: the japanese Go Hiyama and the Berlin based duo I/Y.

On Side A, Go Hiyama’s first track ‘Recur’ delivers sinister atmospheres matched with a tough kick and industrial bleepy elements. Slow and paranoic drones get in and out contributing to enlarge the sound perception. The second track ‘Prop’ introduces elegant hi-hats and strident synths. A captivating kick perfectly embraces the shrill synths waving together with the sharp drum; what remains of the first side is just tense ambients, forewarning the journey is not over.

Side B smells like a dark club firing up, indeed I/Y’s aim is not different at all. ’Thesys 0000.001’ debuts with a thin bassline and distorted grave surroundings. The track evolves with clean slap hats sound in an empty echo chamber. Deep timbres rise and fall, turning the entire route gently aggressive. The second track is an IDM experiment which keeps a trippy approach and the clarity of claps and hi-hats. Solid as the first one, ‘Thesys 0000.003’ sets itself as an hypnotic but pleasant moment where suspicious fragments quickly appear and disappear: a sparkled trip to be enjoyed anytime but not by anyone.

Press Info:
Function and Vatican Shadow have combined forces on ‘Games Have Rules’ for Hospital Productions, simultaneously stripping back each producer’s more prevalent production elements – the dancefloor-focused techno structures of Function; the experimental cassette-roots of Vatican Shadow – to create an album of dynamic electronic ambient music, equal parts rhythmic and atmospheric.

As befitting what began life as an ’emotional acid’ album best suited for an after-hours home listening experience, Games Have Rules was created in the early hours at New York’s Hospital Productions and Berlin’s Inanimate Objects studios, helping imbue the record with a sense of night turning into day, and the shifting contrasts of dark and light the music evokes.

Although not created as the result of improvisation the album retains an effortless, free-flowing structure, while simultaneously introducing the traditional techno drum kit over the course of the record, deconstructing the ever-changing, looming presence of New York City’s skyline.

Ambient in the most traditional sense, Games Have Rules omits the top-heavy reverb saturation of so many modern releases and builds from the ground up with an arsenal hi-fi and lo-fi production techniques/equipment with a cinematic sequence over the arc of the record.

But whereas New York City has so often been depicted in film as a prison, Games Have Rules is an embracement of the city’s endless possibilities: the LP’s gatefold black and white image of The Empire State Building lit up at night from the inside; the ongoing stories of rise and decline lived out at it’s base.

Press Info:
Originally a weekly broadcast radio show on the Dutch-based XT3 Radio, Reclaim Your City (RYC) gained its reputation as a highly acclaimed podcast series with its headquarters in Berlin. Since 2012, over ninety podcasts have been published from some of the biggest names in contemporary techno, Jeroen Search, Adriana Lopez, Fabrizio Lapiana, Exium and Jonas Kopp to name a few. With such success through its podcast series, RYC has decided to take matters to the next level and establish a label using its powerful concept as a platform.

Constantly gaining momentum and strength, techno epicenters have erupted from under the surface showcasing talent from across the globe. With each release RYC will exhibit two influential cities in the underground techno sphere by carefully selecting two artists from each region who exemplify modern style as well as the vision of RYC. In combination with a strong passion for art, each release will feature original artwork based around minimal and obscure atmospheres influenced by the architecture of the featured city or region.

or its first release RYC has decided to showcase Berlin and Paris, two cities historically known for placing great significance and expertise on the genre. Berlin, consistently home to a resonating techno culture, competes here with Paris who has been on the rise from beneath its bourgeois history. For this special first release Zadig and Antigone have been chosen to represent Parisian techno, as Blind Observatory and Subjected will in full support of Berlin.

Bringing us the first track on the EP is founder of Vault Series, Subjected, a mythical yet distinctive figure in the Berlin scene. ?Nordkiez ? No. 4? is a heavy-hitter, escalating straight to the point hooking the listener with the drop of the needle. Common to the Subjected style, raw climaxing chords mingle with an echoing bass to send you straight to the dance floor. The second track on Side-A, ?Beneath a Steel Sky? from Blind Observatory, brings you deep into another dimension with smooth spatial sounds that combine with piercing oscillations keeping the mind alerted. Yet again flying under the radar not offering much about his identity but a lot about his personality.

Both artists on Side-B hail from Parisian label Construct Re-Form, Antigone and label owner Zadig bring to us each an elegant exemplary of the label?s perspective. Antigone?s ?Blank Slate? features a resonating variant melody, climaxing to a heavy bass with divergent static to catch the wandering ear. The final track on the EP by Zadig, ?The 700 Steps of Sleep,? opens with a booming bass and ever so slowly crescendos into a foreshadowing array of mysterious reverberations.

This is just the beginning of an impressive journey for RYC; the collection will become a true celebration of underground techno around the globe.

These Bones
(Peter Van Hoesen Remix)

Press Info:
“This ancestral bones” – title of the second release of the Berlin-based label Ownlife. It features two original tracks of Leiras and a remix by one of the key-names in the electronic music-scene, the multifaceted Peter Van Hoesen.

The record opens with a direct weapon. “These Bones” combines the classic sound of techno with the actual vision of dance oriented music. Metallic sound melts over its gloomy atmosphere to a true profit for a dark clubsound.

“Diagram” is the ideal example for the characteristic, hypnotic sound of the label – with a hard-hitting rhythm, keeping the driving sound.

The B side completes the record with the remix of Van Hoesen. The different sounds of the original track intervene in a repetitive way, creating an incredible groove. The belgian producer illuminates the release, with a dreamy pad to an eigth minute long trip, what is the perfect end to this EP.
