Press Info:
Originally released on Laurent Garnier’s French label, F Communications, in 1997, 30 has long been out of print in the United States until now when Mute reissues it on January 27th, 2004.

30 is the follow-up to Garnier’s artist debut, Shot in the Dark (1995, reissued by Mute in 2001) and preceded the acclaimedUnreasonable Behaviour in 2000.

30 spawned the classic singles, “Crispy Bacon,” “Flashback,” and “The Hoe.”

Laurent Garnier and author David Brun-Lambert have written the book, Electrochoc, featuring stories and photos of Laurent Garnier’s musical journey while traipsing all these years between Tokyo, Sydney, Berlin and Manchester. It was published in France in the fall of 2003 and has sold 9000 copies.

Also in the fall of 2003, Laurent Garnier released the import-only, Excessive Baggage 5 CD box set thorugh F Communications.

Laurent explains,
“The whole box set idea came to me after we had been working for a few months with David-Brun Lambert (co-writer) on my book, Electrochoc. We wanted to somehow illustrate what we had been writing about, although with out being directly linked to it. Something urban, eclectic, timeless which would really define the music that makes my heart pound. I’ve chosen a few cities with which I have truly built a special relationship: Paris, London, Barcelona & Detroit. 4 countries, 81 tracks, 5 mixes recorded for 5 different occasions, in really different moods & atmospheres.”

(Si Begg Total Immersion Remix)

Press Info:
Si Begg’s classic Welcome to the Discotheque is released with new versions on the Harthouse label

British electronic music producer Si Begg has re-recorded his 2001 classic hit “Welcome To The Discotheque”, which was previously released on the [Feis] label. That 2001 release included seven versions, including the original and six remixes by renowned artists such as Funk D’Void, The Hacker, Lamonde aka Len Faki, Gayle San, Mhonolink and Michael Burkat. Each remix already gave the original track a unique touch by integrating deep bass lines, techno elements and modern funk influences.

The fresh new edition on the German label Harthouse offers a new dimension to Si Begg‘s legendary track and includes four energetic remixes that fuse the cult sound of the original with contemporary beats and powerful dancefloor energy. Each of the four remixes gives the track a different style, offering listeners a unique listening experience.

The “Si Begg Return to the Discotheque Remix” is a tribute to the original and ensures that the nostalgic charm of “Welcome To The Discotheque” is retained while adding modern elements. With a pulsating bassline and driving beats, this version stays true to the original track while still capturing the sound of the present. The energetic structure invites you to surrender to the dance floor and experience the essence of the track in a new, intense form.

In the “Si Begg Total Fusion Remix” version, Si Begg fuses together various electronic genres, bringing a whole new dynamic to the track. The fusion of house, techno and even breakbeat elements creates a distinctive soundscape that sets the track apart from the crowd. This remix particularly highlights the versatility of “Welcome To The Discotheque” and gives the classic a modern twist that appeals to both long-time fans and new listeners. The “Si Begg Hates Social Media Remix” offers a more experimental approach to the track and critically reflects on the effects of the modern digital world. Si Begg takes a satirical and critical look at social media, creating a dense soundscape characterized by distorted sounds and unconventional beat patterns. The sound design surprises and challenges the audience to engage with the track in a new, almost provocative way – a statement against the superficiality and fast pace of today’s digital world.

With “Si Begg Total Immersion Remix”, Si Begg draws the listener into a deeper soundscape. This remix is particularly atmospheric and focuses on hypnotic and dark elements. The structure of the track is designed in such a way that the intensity increases bit by bit, offering an immersive experience in which you lose yourself completely in the music. The deep basslines and subtle melodies invite you to an intense and almost meditative experience, perfect for late hours in the club when the dance floor transforms into a world of its own.

With these four remixes, Si Begg manages to reimagine “Welcome To The Discotheque” for today’s electronic music scene, while also bridging the gap between the past and the present. The combination of nostalgia and fresh modern influences makes this EP a must for fans of electronic music and offers a piece of music history in a new guise. The reissue is available on all known platforms and invites you to experience a legendary track from a completely new perspective. The original version and the six previous remixes are still available on the label [Feis], which, like Harthouse, belongs to the labels of UCM.ONE.

Press Info:
This release includes the original version which appeared on Mosquito Records MSQ016 EP in 2000.

I’ve also included the intro which precedes it on the EP, this was titled separately as “Freedom Is Irrelevant” but as it runs straight into Welcome and I often played it that way it seemed to make sense to include it.

The 2006 Remix (really just a re-edit) was part of a limited white label run I did in 2006.

The Original Dub version was how the track started. Just a little DJ tool , which I then chopped and hacked into the longer track Welcome a year later.

The 2005 VIP was a funny little version I did which I offered to Novamute. Didn’t happen in the end and it ended up being re-purposed for the “We Made Our Own Disaster Project” as “Touchomatic”
