Press Info:
Nicolas Bougaïeff continues his ‘Prime’ EP series on NovaMute – ‘Prime Funktion’ arrives this May, with single ‘Funktion’ available 8th April 2025

Berlin-based Nicolas Bougaïeff follows up February’s ‘Primal Extensions’ EP with ‘Prime Funktion’, the second instalment of his ‘Prime’ EP series on NovaMute. Expanding on his ongoing exploration of prime rhythms and polytemporality, Bougaïeff continues to push the boundaries of techno with intricate rhythmic frameworks and hypnotic, high-intensity club cuts.

He kicks off this latest offering with ‘Prime’, a bleeping, twisted, and trippy late-night techno cut built around a quintuplet groove and 7:6 synth structures. The fantastic ‘Funktion’ is another potent, menacing track, where a shadowy synth loop repeats over hefty kicks in a dystopian fashion, driven by prime rhythmic divisions that create tension and unpredictability. ‘Nucleus’ is a hypnotic piece rolling on thudding kicks, with tumbling percussive lines dancing over the drums while its rational intonation scale, tuned around the 17th harmonic, brings a microtonal depth to the melodies. Last but not least, ‘Womb’ contrasts ever-evolving melodic patterns ringing down over lurching drums and unresolved loops, creating a dynamic interplay between chaos and calm. The artwork mirrors the EP’s approach, visualising prime rhythms as layered circular structures, where individual patterns remain independent yet momentarily align—capturing the tension between freedom and synchronisation that defines the Prime series.

Nicolas Bougaïeff’s ‘Prime Funktion’ once again showcases his unmatched mastery of polyrhythm, with the EP already receiving early support from Charlotte De Witte, Dubfire, Boris, Laurent Garnier, and Elisa Bee.

Drawing from his PhD in minimal techno and decades of experience, Bougaïeff continues his quest to expand the rhythmic possibilities of electronic music. The Prime series introduces listeners to prime rhythms—polyrhythms derived from prime number ratios that challenge traditional binary subdivisions—alongside his pivot mixing techniques, which allow seamless tempo integration. This explores what Bougaïeff calls ‘temporal liberation’—where intricate rhythms both literally break the constraints of traditional techno and serve as a symbolic metaphor for broader notions of personal, social, and metaphysical freedom.

Beyond his releases on labels such as Mute and NovaMute, Bougaïeff co-founded Liine, creators of the Lemur music app—famously used aboard the International Space Station. He founded the Berlin Academy of Electronic Music and reaches a global audience through his online tutorials, where he explains innovative production techniques. His videos on pivot mixing have gained notable recognition among industry peers.

Press Info:
After seeing Tbilisi dogs barking at the cops during the ongoing massive protests against the newly “elected” government on every videos, I discovered last Christmas that this behavior is a global phenomenon.

Stray dogs do love a riot and somehow always side against authority.

this EP celebrates four of them that became symbols of civil unrests and fights for social justice.

“Side A” is dedicated to Chilean dogs Vaquilla and El negro matapacos and is inspired by early EBM cooked with my own techno twist.
Vocals are forward with lyrics being in Spanish and french

“Side B” is about greek dogs Kanellos and Loukanikos with the later of them being nominated for person of the year in 2011 by Time magazine…
Loukanikos track is my own blend of industrial metal techno with some trap elements that I’ve been experimenting with on my two Bloc Noir albums .
Kanellos goes into wave territories faster but softer than the rest of the EP with some post punk influences and vocoded vocals.

Press Info:
Life In Patterns returns with Symmetry of Chaos, a six-track EP by SLV available in vinyl and digital formats. Out on April 25, 2025, this EP embodies the Paris based label’s signature aesthetic—where dub-chord depth, organic textures, and high-impact rhythms converge into a hypnotic, immersive club experience.

SLV crafts a sonic narrative that balances atmospheric tension with raw, driving energy. Deep, resonant chords intertwine with pulsating low-end grooves, while intricate percussions and evolving textures create a sense of controlled chaos on the dancefloor. Designed for both peak-time intensity and deeper explorations, Symmetry of Chaos is a bold statement in contemporary techno.

Press Info:
Continuing to expand on their sonic world, BPitch Berlin present the ninth iteration of WE ARE NOT ALONE, a 12-track compilation bridging diverse forms and frameworks held together by a genuine love for the underground.

A testament to the breadth of style and genre that keeps BPitch alight, each WE ARE NOT ALONE compilation offers an insight into varying subcultures, and connects the dots between artists across the globe with a shared vision. From acid to industrial, EBM to trance, genre denominations fizzle and make way for a feeling, carving a space for each artist to document their own interpretation of an energy that has sustained the label and event series since its inception.

Kicking things off is UFO Inc. regular DJ Europarking, whose ‘Faze Swapp’ walks the line between playful and unnerving. Drawing on the late ‘90s hard-trance energy, he hones in on his bouncy, immersive production style, setting the tone for what’s to come. Diving into the deep end, BEC lays down a hard, bass-heavy swirl of malfunctioning lasers and tweaky vocals on ‘Tibetan Monks’. Stepping further into the dramatic art, Aida Arko readies some genre-bending, innovative storytelling on ‘May Be Life Maybe Death’.

Berlin-based Sarah Sommers steps up with an all hardware journey of tension-building synths, deep bass and hypnotic percussion. Not letting her foot off the gas, Gabby Diaz follows up with a swarm of brutal kicks and wailing distortions on ‘Bloody Dance’. Leaning further into the groove, ‘A Tear In The Sofa’ by Annē offers a paired-back dose of darkened minimalism.

Detroit-born, Berlin-based maestro DJ T-1000 slides in with expertly layered rhythms and shuffling percussion on ‘Unfeminine Woman’. Also showing some love to the Detroit sound, Byron Alvarado’s offering leans on soulful, lightly-swung techno with melodic inflections and flickers of euphoria. Next up, Ukrainian Omon Breaker lines up an emotive cut of synthwave-influenced trance energy driven by Garden Krist’s glistening vocals.

Kicking off the home run, X-Alox plunges into chaotic acoustics and fast-paced, maximal percussion on ‘Sexy Sexy’. Rebecca Delle Piane’s ‘Ammore’ leads with a powerful kick snare combo, tying the threads between hypnotic and minimal in equal measure. Rounding things off, the inimitable Dr. Rubinstein teams up with Blind Observatory for ‘Express Lane’, a smooth hit of groovy acid landing softly on cloud nine.

Playful as ever, whilst never losing sight of techno’s functional core, WE ARE NOT ALONE pt. 9 is an attempt at documenting a feeling, and a crucial snapshot into some of electronic music’s most exciting voices.
