After a stunning debut at the tail end of 2018, Huseyin Evirgen aka Magna Pia returns to Soma for his 2nd release with the Eostre EP. With full focus on the solo project, Evirgen has once again delivered 4 cuts of raw, analogue Techno that show great depth and drive.

Title track Eostre opens the EP with its subtle drones and hypnotic drum patterns and synth hook sets the tone of the EP perfectly from the outset. Lioness sets out with a distinctly rawer edge to it, a buss like bass line grinds against delayed drums and otherworldly synths. Acre keeps things on a more hypnotic note once again yet steps up the pace slightly, it’s gently looping patters ebb and flow perfectly. Syenite closes out the release and has Magna Pia delving right in to the dark recesses and disturbing synths pull and push their way through the void connected by powerful and intensive drum workouts.

Huge Soma debut for Jerm with pummeling Manni Dee Remix.

Athens based DJ & producer, Jerm, debuts on Soma with a massive new release, The Electric City EP. A relative new face to the greater Techno world, Jerm is quickly ascending the ranks with multiple hard hitting original productions and remixes which are garnering attention across the board. His debut Soma release sets down strong roots with direct and unrelenting Techno, moving from hard edged industrial sounds, to jacked up 90s flavoured elements. Also appearing for the first time on Soma, in the form of a remix, is UK Techno maverick, Manni Dee.

Control Theory opens the release with powerhouse beats, eviscerating synths and a colossal amount of attitude. Manni Dee’s remix of Control Theory feeds on that attitude and takes it up even more with clear nods to the rapid Birmingham sound. Glass Chinn keeps the intensity flowing with galloping percussion that leads directly into a dark, driving and industrial affair. Maiden Voyage works in more hypnotic elements whilst still retaining Jerm’s concussive and direct sound. The jacking and funked up vibes of Booze Cruise can be found as a Bandcamp exclusive.
