Gerald VDH’s long awaited debut album is about to hit the shelves.

After more than ten years on the techno scene, hosting Vienna’s infamous MEAT MARKET parties, playing DJ gigs in some of the best clubs around the globe and releasing four solo EPs on his very own label MEAT Recordings, it is time to take his profile as a producer to the next level.

And this is exactly what SNACKS will do for Gerald. Besides delivering some of his typical techno bangers (PUSH, WASTE OF GOOD CEREAL, WINNING STREAK, EVERY ME) and a breaky roller in the legacy of his hit Otto Wagner Green (FEVER), he has taken some considerable risk by showing a completely new side of his production in the studio: WASH ME and SAIL AWAY are coops with Viennese singers, that could quite plausibly be described as pop songs. GAY DAD offers some Rammsteiny vibes along with some provocative, yet sexy lyrics.

SNACKS also features two amazing remixes by CHRISTOPH FAUST and PROJEKT GESTALTEN. The double 12” vinyl comes in a precious gatefold cover with a breathtaking 3D rendered artwork by Jesus Florez (Bogota, Colombia), which is, in effect, a work of art for itself.

SNACKS will hit the shops and digital platforms in the middle of pride month on June 10th this year.

MEAT Recordings is back with a digital compilation of seven pret-a-dancer techno tracks featuring the label’s trademark sound and beyond. For the 15th release in the history of the Viennese imprint Gerald VDH selected seven tunes by some of his favourite Austrian and German producers. Aida Arko, Black Lotus, Gerald VDH, Matt Mor, Scirox, Specific Objects and Verschwender (in alphabetical order, and in order of appearance) each present some of their strongest work to date, ranging from dark to uplifting, from playful to pounding and from educated to big room. Aida’s track “Subatomic” already received early and enthusiastic support by Amelie Lens, who featured the track in her BBC Radio 1 Residency show.

After the widespread success of his Otto Wagner Green EP two years ago, label head honcho Gerald VDH is back with another solo release sporting two club-ready original tracks and two equally intense remixes by musical companions Cleric and Elad Magdasi.

While the title track Martyr is a proper breakbeat roller reminiscent of Gerald VDH’s early output with a refined and mature touch, I Came Back For You starts with a simple melody that evolves into a furious arrangement of bass, percussion and vocals and can be expected to stir up every dance floor with its exceptional mentality.

Cleric’s remix is a complex re-interpretation of the title track, adding layers and percussion to form a fast-paced and straight forward techno trip. Elad Magdasi’s imagination of I Came Back For You on the other hand is playful and modern, with trance-like melodies and uplifting grooves on top of Gerald VDH’s vocal expression.

With cover art by queer London photographer Tyler Udal completing the package, Gerald VHD delivers an outstanding release that further shapes his unique vision of techno and implements the ideas of like-minded musicians to paint a dark, but certainly not depressing picture of techno in the modern age.

For the 13th release on Vienna based Meat Recordings, label mainstay Matt Mor is back with his follow-up release to his debut album in 2017. The artist returns with a 5-tracker as his first solo release on Vinyl.

‘Surrender’ kicks in with polyrhythmic structures and strong overdriven bass drums to let you know there ”ain’t no prisoners gonna be taken” on MR013. When you’re ready to pull down the tempo fader to evoke ecstatic behaviour among raving pieces of MEAT, ‘Method Of Regression’ provides the basic recipe to inject fun into your game just like they used to do things back in the old days. To avoid walking down the memory lane too far, ‘Method Of Rebellion’ will bring you back to present with full force and provides the foundation for successfully tearing down club walls with its gnarly punch and pulsating synth-hooks. ‚Humility’ shows no mercy with its heavy bass and resonating sub-frequencies, all complementing each other, forcing your sound system to reveal its strength, to strike with awe like rolling thunder on a summer’s night and resulting in an intense showdown of flesh, sweat and bass.

The EP also includes a remix by the Spanish Pole Group artist KWARTZ. The record will be released on April 3rd and will be available on vinyl, as a download and on all major streaming plattforms.
