Unequal is a label founded by Anselm from Frankfurt am Main in 2015. Ranging from deep, spaced out analog techno to more droning, industrial rough sounds, the aim is to give an impression of whats going on in the FFM underground these days. Sophisticated broken beats and modular synths are essential for this project. Unequal means not to be just one specified style but an open-minded platform to express a diverse view of music within the techno genre.

The second EP on Unequal has two fearless tracks from Cloak. A1 is a peaktime oriented banger with evolving staccato hats and rough machine sounds all over. A2 goes one step further and disturbes with noisy droning synths and a sick low bassline. Flip side by Anselm tells a raw story in downtempo with crooked melodies and dense hi-hat rhythms.

Monoloc returns to Soma in the form of a special remix package that sees 2015’s ‘Gipson Ep’ reworked by Slam, Lucy and SHDW & Obscure Shape. Monoloc carefully selected his remixers to breath new life in to his fantastic debut release on Soma with superb results.

Soma label heads Slam turn in a brooding, menacing version of title track Gipson. Staying true to the original’s heavy and atmospheric vibe, the Glaswegian duo keep it stripped back and pounding. Stroboscopic Artefacts boss, Lucy steps up with his more experimental take on Cupel. The dubbed out atmospheres of the original take on a new life and Lucy leans hard on the electronics and delivers a broken beat, tweeked out trip. Relative newcomers SHDW & Obscure Shape round off the EP with a big, bold reinterpretation of Gipson. Thundering bass drums, hypnotic synths hooks and and an epic use of the original’s pad create a fairly ferocious end to the EP.

Lanthan.audio, the German label founded by Christian Gerlach, now presents its fourth release with a double LP featuring Urbano. The Brazilian-born German-based artist delivers 10 tracks where he expands different facets of his production skills.

The LP contains several powerful Techno pieces to get lost in his hypnotic rhythms as in A2 ‘Illusion’. Urbano explores his rave-like sounds with industrial grooves in B1 and D2. C2 ‘Travel Inside Your Head’ brings your mind into an acidic and loopy ecstasy combined with atmospheric cuts. Besides, B2 and D1 are your proper bangs to pump up your stamina, while C3 ‘Brother’ will definitely take you through a landscape of melodic beats.

Nevertheless, the talented DJ and producer illustrates his deep synth sounds in A1 and A3. Together with C1, ‘A Trip To Myself’ are clear examples of intense ambient voyages with melancholic vocals.
